Rejected And Forsaken -
Chapter 47
Narrator
David walked in slowly, looking around the place he one lived in. The place that he grew up in. The place was still the same. The pack house was a huge place, consisting of a grand room and several rooms on each floor of the house. The kitchen and the living room, would be in the ground floor. While the first floor consisted of the beta’s quarters, one part of it was used by the elders. The second floor had the high elder’s room and the top floor was specially for the alpha and Luna.
A feeling of nostalgia washed over David as he ascended the grand staircase which was covered in with a red carpet. This was the same set of stairs he used to run up and down during his childhood. He used to play in the hall way with Cade, who used to be his best friend then.
A sad smile curved his lips when remembered those days. When he reached the first floor, he glanced at the corridor where he and Cade used to play sword fight. He shook his head.
“Greed got you Cade. I wish things ended up in a different way.” He gulped down a chunk of saliva and sighed.
He felt a hand on his back. When he turned around, Carol was looking at him with eyes full of emotions, as if trying to tell him that she was there for him. Behind her, Evan and Nolan too stood looking at him with a gaze filled with encouragement.
David nodded. He had better friends now. He will have to let go of the past and move forward. Taking a deep breath, he cleared his throat.
“So where should we look first?” king Richard wondered as his looked around.
“I think it would be better if we split up. This floor is for the beta. Evan and Nolan can take charge to raid this floor. Let is do to the second and third floor.” David suggested and they nodded in agreement.
“And send some warriors to check the basement. Perhaps some civilians are hidden there. Remember, don’t hurt anyone. We don’t want to shed b***d unnecessarily.” David asserted.
A group of warriors were sent to search the basement and the ground floor while the others raided the upper floors. Nolan and Evan were quick to look for anyone or anything that could be of their interest. David and the rest of the gang ran up the stairs.
Their first destination was the second floor. David had a feeling that elder Barron would have hidden it in his personal quarters. David carefully entered the place with Carol and king Richard right behind him. They started to search high and low, looking for what they had come to replace.
“I am sure Barron would have hidden it somewhere here.” David muttered as he raised the shelves and the cupboard.
“Why do you think it will be here?” Carol inquired as she flipped through the clothes in the closet.
“Remember when Barron got defensive when they were accused of stealing the opal? Cade had no idea about it until they said so it cannot be in the alpha’s quarters. I think Cade’s father and Barron were the culprits in this.” David explained.
“What is this?” Carol inquired as she uncovered a hidden safe.
“What?” David and king Richard hastened towards her to see what it was.
“Yes. Let’s open that.”
David tried to unlock the safe using different combinations but it was useless.
“Just break it open.” Carol muttered feeling impatient.
Shrugging in response, David extended his claws and used it to pierce through the door of the safe, breaking it open. As soon as it opened, a purple glow filled the entire room. King Richard gasped in excitement.
“The opal! It’s……it’s glowing?” he was shocked.
David glanced at him and then at the glowing stone.
“Isn’t it supposed to glow?” he questioned.
King Richard shook his head.
“No. It will only glow when it’s true powers is to be unlocked. Which means the true leader of the vampire clan is now ready to take over…..”
The king trailed off as realisation hit him. His eyes widened as he glanced at his daughter and her beloved.
“It is you!” he gasped as he placed his hands on their shoulders.
“Huh?” Carol furrowed her eyebrows and glanced sideways at David.
King Richard chuckled. “You see it is said that every 1000 years a legend will be born. When he or she is ready to lead the clan and the mystical world, the opal will glow. It will readily offer it’s powers to that leader.”
The king felt immense pleasure after realising that David and his daughter was the chosen couple.
“I am so proud of you. I….let’s take the opal back to the clan. We have a lot to do. We must prepare for your coronation as the king and queen. We must……”
“Whoa. Dad. Stop stop.” Carol cut him in.
“Coronation? Dad….I still have to complete my training….” Carol frowned.
She trailed off when her father started to laugh.
“Oh my dear . You are ready. You just don’t know it. With David by your side you will conquer the world. You are the chosen for this millennium. You are more than ready my dear.” He said as he picked the glowing stone and placed it in the little wooden box he took from his pocket.
“Let’s go. We have got what we must get. There is no need of staying any longer.” He murmured and walked out of the room, leaving Carol gaping at his retreating back.
“What the hell…..” she gasped. “We are the chosen couple? What in the world does that mean?” she exclaimed.
David chuckled as he picked cold hand and kissed her knuckles. Carol felt a feeling of relief wash over her. She smiled as her eyes landed on the man she had fallen so desperately in love with. Yes. She could do it. She has David beside her. With him, she could do anything.
“Let’s go babe. I don’t think daddy would like it if we are late.”
“Let’s go babe. I don’t think daddy would like it if we are late.”
Carol forced herself to get up and walk out of the room and in to the grand room of the pack, where the warriors had gathered the civilians who were hiding in the basement of the pack house. “What do we do with them your highness” they asked the king.
He looked at the pack members who were trembling in fear. Their eyes were downcast as they stayed still, as if they were too scared to move a muscle. The children his behind their mothers, sensing trouble from the night dwellers.
The king glanced at the sorry pack members to David who was already glaring at them.
“Son. What do you want to happen to them?” he asked and faced the captives.
“It is not my turn to take the decision. You all have wronged David, your true alpha. And today, he will decide your fate.” The king declared, as he scanned the crowd. He then looked at David who smirked at him. King Richard nodded at him, giving him encouragement.
David stepped forward. He looked at the wolves of his pack who once did nothing when he was pushed around. Perhaps some of them condemned him being bullied like that. Perhaps they were too scared to voice their opinions against their superiors.
David saw innocent little pups peeking from behind their mothers, their little eyes filled with fear and uncertainty. David sighed.
He can’t. He can’t hurt them. Those little souls were innocent. They certainly didn’t deserve to be punished.
“I don’t believe that punishing the reminder of this pack is worth it. Those little innocent children don’t deserve to be punished for anything. They didn’t do anything. I don’t want to hold any grudges against this pack. You are free to go.” He announced and bit his lips.
He took quick steps towards Carol and quickly grabbed on to her, taking her in to his embrace. He sniffed on to her hair, taking in the scent that he adored and allowed his anxious heart to calm down a bit. Facing them was too much for him. But still, he had to forgive them. Because he knew that was the right thing to do.
Those little pups deserve a chance at life. The king smiled at him, proud of his daughter’s beloved. He walked up to them and patted on David’s back.
“You both sure are the chosen couple for this millennium. We haven’t even have crowned you king and queen, but even now, you have proved that you are one of a kind. Only the strongest can forgive like that.”
