David pov

“David!”

I heard a voice that I thought I would never hear again. My gaze rested on Carol, my mate. The one who carried my mark. A small smile curved my lips as I gazed deep in to her green orbs. My heart palpitated as our gazes met.

Yes. This girl means the whole world to me now. She was the one who healed my broken heart. She was The one who showed me that I too was worthy of love. I smiled at her.

However, her eyebrows were knitted in a deep frown. I knew she was looking at Hailey.

“Who is that?” she questioned.

I sighed and turned around. Hailey was staring at me with sad eyes. Before I could say anything, she ran up to me and halted right in front of me.

“David.” She whispered. “I am so sorry…. please. I was so wrong to reject you. I….I should have known that Cade too would replace his real mate.” She gasped as tears suddenly started to stream down her cheeks.

Frowning, I stared at her as she tried to explain through her sobs and gasps.

“He….he cheated on me….he …..David please forgive me.” She pleaded.

I wanted to scoff and tell her to get lost. I desired to hurt her the way she had hurt me that day. But I just couldn’t. Maybe she had already learned her lesson. I knew it would be hard for any wolf to ignore the mate bond. So it seems that Cade also didn’t ignore the bond when he finally met his mate. However, she did it. My first mate did. She rejected me on the spot, right in front of everyone. And not only that, she slept with my so called best friend that same night. I would say that the only reason she was able to overcome the divine bond would be because of unimaginable hate towards me.

But that was something I didn’t care about any more. I don’t give a damn about what she thought about me. She has rejected me and I have excepted. I have nothing against her. I just want to go on with my life

“Fine.”.” I shrugged.

I knew she was hurting and perhaps this was not the best time to give her a piece of my mind. To my surprise, Hailey smiled through her tears. Small giggles escaped through her lips and she quickly wiped her tears.

“Yo….you do?” she giggled. “Thank you. Thank you so much David.” She gasped.

“Now we can be together and lead this pack as the real alpha and Luna. We can do it the right way the way it really should have been. I…I am so lucky to have you as my mate……” she started to babble as I made a face and glared at her.

I snapped at he face twice making her trail off and stop babbling nonsense.

“Oh hello! I said I forgive you. Not that I want you back in my life as my mate.” I scoffed. This she wolf was delusional.

“I forgive you for making me feel the stabbing pain of rejection. I forgive you for sleeping with me ex best friend that same night, making me pass out in my room with the excruciating pain it made me feel. I forgive you for replacing me with someone who you thought was better.”

I scowled as I reminded her of the things that she did. Those memories started to make me angry. All those days I was feeling dejected and worthless because of what she and the members of this pack had done to me.

“And now you want to be with me because I have defeated them? I’m sorry Hailey. But I’m not interested.” I scoffed.

“Please. David. Please don’t say that.” Tears started to flow out of her eyes once again.

“I swear that is not true. I have truly realised my mistake. Please David. Please take me back. Please accept me as your mate.” She cried. She knelt down in front of him, as she sobbed hysterically. Her tears kept streaming on her cheeks.

“I am afraid that is too late for that now.” I murmured, starting to feel bored and tired of listening to her ridiculous pleas.

“I have found my second chance mate. And she has excepted me. And I love her to the moon and back. She means the whole world to me. For her, I’m ready to lay my life.” I murmured, looking straight at Hailey, he was now stunned and shocked.

She certainly didn’t expect that. Her eyes were wide as her mouth was agape.

“Wh..what?” her question came out as a hushed whisper as she scrambled up to her feet.

I was fed up. I just didn’t want to listen to her anymore, nor answer any of her questions. I have forgiven her and she was free to go. I wouldn’t mind what she did with her life as long as she doesn’t interfere with mine. I sighed and turned around to walk towards my mate. My Carol who was obviously glowing with happiness. Smiling, I walked up to her and kissed her forehead and let my lips longer there for sometime. Oh I love this woman.

“David.” Carol gasped against through her smile.

“Do you really love me that much?” she asked, apparently elated to hear me confess the death of my love to her in front of everyone.

“Yes my love. You are my everything now. I love you.” I replied gazing deeply in to her deep green orbs. I caressed away the hair that was matted to her face with her sweat. Hugging her, I inhaled the scent that I had loved since day one.

“I love you too David.” She whispered against my ears, hugging me back.

“No!”

A shout suddenly filled the air that made all of us look at the owner of that scream. We saw Hailey holding a sword, ready to fight.

“David is mine! He was my mate first! You cannot have him. You are not even a werewolf. He deserves a wolf like me!” she screamed like a maniac.

“David is mine! He was my mate first! You cannot have him. You are not even a werewolf. He deserves a wolf like me!” she screamed like a maniac.

She pointed the tip of the sword at Carol and glared at her.

“I challenge you. Fight me leech!” she demanded. But carol just smirked.

“Why should I degrade myself by fighting for something which is already mine?” She asked.

“You have had your chance and you ruined it. He. Is. Mine. Now. Pup.” She scoffed at Hailey who was already seething in anger.

“Why you…..” she growled and started to run at Carol, but I took shielded her with my body, protecting her.

“Step away David. Let me kill her!” she growled.

“No.” I simply replied. “Can’t you see that we have marked each other already? There is no way that I am leaving her. Even If you challenge her or whatsoever.” I told her firmly.

“Let’s go Carol.” I turned around to go to the pack house. We still had a lot of work to do. “ We still need to replace that opal.” I added.

All of us turned around to leave, but I just couldn’t ignore the sound of steps approaching us.

A growl and a hiss was what I heard. When I turned around Hailey was grabbing on Carol’s hair and going to stab the sword in her.

“No!” I screamed. But Carol was fast enough to grab on to Hailey’s hand and unarm her in a jiffy. Carol too looked furious as she attacked with her fangs bared and eyes glowing red. She delivered punch after punch, not giving Hailey much time to recover.

“I am tired of you bitch!” she screamed and used her hands to squeeze Hailey’s head with all her might. Hailey was feeling too much pressure. A vampire’s strength would be lethal if it is used in the wrong way.

Hailey started to scream in pain. But that didn’t stop Carol. She continued to crush her skull until it exploded under pressure, raining the place with Hailey’s b***d. Carol stepped back from the corpse, dropping it on the ground, as her eyes slowly returned back to normal. Licking her lips and tasting her Hailey’s b***d, she smirked.

She took a deep breath. “I never thought I would kill for a man.” She smirked. “But David is worth it.”

Her father chuckled and shook his head.

“That she wolf asked for it anyway. Now let’s replace the opal.” He added and looked at me.

“David. Lead the way. You will know this place better than any of us.”

Nodding in agreement, I walked in the pack house for the first time since a long time.
