Rejected And Forsaken -
Chapter 49
King Richard pov.
“Attention everyone! Princess Carol and prince David!”
The announcer announced in to the microphone. Making all the guests turn towards the stage where I was waiting for them to come and sit on the throne. I smiled when I saw my little girl walk towards the stage, hand in hand with her beloved.
Both of them, held their heads up high, their faces void of any emotions, though I knew that in their hearts, their would be going feelings would be going haywire. After all, they were going to become the next power couple of the millennium.
It meant that they would be the most powerful with the opal at their service, however, it also meant their lives would be filled with trials and hardships. Perhaps, lots and lots of wars and enemies too. But I knew they would make through it.
Carol and David walked right up to me and halted in front of me. Smiling at them, I kissed on their foreheads.
“I am very proud of you both.” I whispered as I lead them towards the throne which was on the stage, specially prepared for their coronation ceremony.
As soon as they sat down, I raised my staff so that everyone present in the hall would look at us.
“By the power bestowed in me, I crown Princess Carol as the queen of the mystical world!” I announced as I placed the crown my beloved used to wear on special occasions, on our daughter’s head. A strange feeling of ecstasy filled my heart as I watched how it sat on her head. She looked so my like her mother – my beloved.
But then I averted my gaze. This was not the time to get emotional. I tried my best to ignore the pang of hurt in my heart as I thought about my beloved partner, who I believe left me too soon. She should have been a part of this day. She should have been with new through out all the struggles. Oh how I wished that she was here with me now.
Sighing deeply, in an attempt to hide my emotions, I faced David who was sitting on the king’s throne. I smiled at him. I just knew he would be the best partner to my daughter.
“By the power bestowed in me, I crown Alpha David as the King of the mystical world!” I announced, making my voice loud and clear as I took the crown from my head and placed it on his and handed him the king’s staff.
I then took the opal that had been resting in it’s box since the day we retrieved it. It’s glow had intensified since that day. As soon as I opened the box, the whole place filled with it’s purple glow, making the guests gasp in amazement. We had invited all the rulers of the different kingdoms so that they would bear witness to what happens in the ceremony.
I heard hushed whispers among the guests, clearly shocked by the intense glow of the opal. They knew what that meant. All of us watched in utter amazement as the opal started to levitate from the box and float over the newly announced king and queen.
Then it slowly descended on the staff I had handed to David and settled itself on it.
“They are the chosen couple!”
“The power couple of the millennium!”
Gasps and whispers were heard from the invitees. The king and queen of the elves and fairies were quick to stand up from their seats and walk up to the stage.
“We pledge to work with you and be your support in every possible way, your highness.” They said as they bowed down.
The rest of the rulers of the different kingdoms followed their suite. I saw Evan and Elle watch them from the side lines with proud looks on their faces. Meanwhile the Nolan and Kat watched them from the other side, with equally satisfied looks. It was obvious that they were all proud of Carol and David.
It was such a pleasure to see them have a great start to their reign. And it was great to know, that they had the support that they would ever need.
Smiling to myself, I excused myself from the throne room where the coronation was held and walked up to my room. I needed to see my beloved. My Maria. There still was a pang of hurt and emptiness in .y chest as I ascended up the stairs.
I walked up to the side table in my room as soon as I entered it, where I had kept her picture. I took it and stared it for a long while.
I walked up to the side table in my room as soon as I entered it, where I had kept her picture. I took it and stared it for a long while.
“Maria…..” I whispered as I traced her beautiful red lips, and brown hair on the picture. Our daughter was a carbon copy of her. And today, seeing my daughter in the queen’s attire had reminded of my lost love far too much than I wanted to.
“My love. I miss you so much.” I whispered as tears rolled down with no control.
Suddenly, a sharp pain jolted from my chest towards my shoulder. I grabbed my chest, as I took deep breaths trying to lessen the pain. But it just wouldn’t go. I started to cough uncontrollably. What was happening?
Still coughing and holding on to my chest, I staggered towards the door, hoping to replace someone to help me. I was barely able to make it to the door, I fell down as soon as I opened the door.
I lied on the floor for sometime before I finally succumbed in to the darkness that kept overpowering me.
Narrator
Ronald went upstairs, following his brother. He had sensed that his brother was not fine. He certainly looked as if he could use some companionship. However, he waited for sometime, hoping that he would come back soon. But when that didn’t happen, he rushed up the stairs and walked straight to the king’s quarters only to freeze on his spot.
“Richard!” he gasped.
There, on the door step, lied his elder brother, unconscious. B***d trickled out of his mouth while his already pale face seemed to have drained it’s colour.
“No!” he screamed as he rushed to assist him.
“Richard!” he called, trying to wake him up. But it was useless.
“Damn it!” he cursed as he lifted his brother and ran down the stairs, looking for anyone to help him.
“Guards!” he screamed as soon as he reached the ground floor.
Soon several guards ran to assist him, and they carried the unconscious king to the hospital.
