Rejected And Forsaken
Chapter 50: Epilogue

Narrator.

King Richard found himself on a strange land. There was greenery every where. However, he was certain that this wasn’t the forest that he grew up in. Definitely not the place where his clan was located. He started to look around for any thing interesting.

“Richard!”

That voice shocked him beyond words. His heart skipped a beat as his breathing hitched. Can it be? Gasping, he turned in the direction of the voice, searching desperately for the owner of the voice.

“Maria?”

He called out hopefully. Is it possible that she was back?

“Hey.” The voice called out once again. And this time, Richard found himself frozen on his spot. Slowly, a smile spread on his face. There, right in front of him stood the one who he had missed immensely over the years. She was wearing a white gown, which sparkled magically. Her rouge lips was stretched in a wide smile, showing him her pearly whites. Her deep brown eyes sparkled while her brown hair blew in the breeze.

It really was her!

“Maria!” he gasped as he rushed towards her. With in just a few long strides, he was in front of her.

“Rich…..” Maria trailed off. She had so much to say, but her tongue suddenly refused to form words. All what she could do was stare at her beloved. Her Richard.

“Maria….. I’m…. Are you back?” Richard asked hopefully. Maria giggled.

“No silly.” She covered her mouth as she giggled. “But you are coming to me….” she whispered.

Richard’s eyes widened. Was it time for him to go? He looked at his beloved who looked so pure and….. perfect.

She was perfect, like she always was.

Yes. He still wanted to be with her. He wanted her. Carol had now found her better half now. There was no need for him to stay anymore.

“Yes…..I want to be with you. For ever and ever……” he whispered and a blinding light engulfed both of them, spreading it’s rays throughout the whole green forest.

The news of king Richard collapsing reached the ears of the new leaders. Carol, David and the rest of the group rushed towards the hospital. However by the time they reached, he was already admitted in the intensive care unit.

Everyone gathered outside the unit, concerned about the well being of their beloved king. Though David and Carol were crowned as the new rulers, their respect for their old king Richard didn’t waver. The doctors and nurses tried to figure out what was happening to their beloved leader.

They continued to run test after test, while they continued to connect and disconnect different machines to his body, but nothing seemed to work. However, the doctors continued to try their best without giving up.

Their efforts seemed to be fruitful at first. But then, he took deep gasps of breath and suddenly, pulse rate dropped. The heart rate monitor stopped beeping. The doctors looked at each other in shock but they tried one more time.

“Bring the defibrillator!” the head doctor shouted.

But it was no use. He was gone.

It took weeks for Carol to get over her father’s sudden death. However, with David’s support she was able to suppress her grief. She had to. After all she was the queen of their clan.

On the day a month passed after his demise, Carol and David visited the grave of the late king. Carol walked carefully up to his tombstone and stared at it for a long time.

“I miss you so much daddy.” She whispered. David too bowed down, to pay his respect to the mighty king, who were both stern and soft at the same time.

A soft breeze played with their soft hair, giving an unexplainable feeling of contentment.

“He is still you babe.” David whispered, as he snaked his arms around her.

Carol smiled. Yes. He was still with her. She turned around, as she silently wiped away her tears, facing her beloved who was there for her. He would be her rock from now on. David smiled and nodded at her, giving her encouragement. Taking a deep breath, she moved forward with David.

Yes. She had the support she needed. She had David. The king of her heart and her clan. They would rule justly. And with his support, she knew that she could do it right.

David walked beside his mate. The one who he believed was worthy to die for. Thinking about his past made him smile. Perhaps being rejected and forsaken by his own kind was not that bad after all. He now had learnt that just because he had fallen, doesn’t mean that he couldn’t stand up and face his fears to beat them up. He now knew he was stronger than he thought he was.

He was the king of the mystical world, who was once rejected and forsaken.

End.
