Rejecting, Your Broken Promises -
Chapter 9
Alpha James
B***d Claw Pack
I can’t believe that someone had the nerve to help that girl. I clenched my hands again. I sent everyone away from the meeting hall and started questioning the whole hospital staff. I am so angry I can’t even speak correctly. I grind my teeth in fury, as I know what happened in the kitchen. That little b***h, who was responsible for killing my Luna, was my son’s mate. How could the Goddess do that to him, or to me? I was almost sick over it. She is nothing to this pack, to me, or to him. How is it possible for them to be mates?
It did explain why he took off like that and never came back. He knew, because he left right after turning 18, and never came back until now. How could this have happened? I want to kill someone for this. She didn’t just do this spur of the moment. She planned with that girl to leave. If they were here, I would ring both their necks. I growled out in frustration again. I have questioned half the hospital staff, and no one knows anything. I started with the day shift crew, and am now working through the night shift crew. This is taking a while because they have to come one at a time to be questioned and then have to go relieve another nurse to send them back to me. I will be at this another 2 hours before I am done.
Goddess, how could you have been so cruel as to punish me with the girl being my son’s mate? I don’t want her around me, and I will refuse to give up my pack if he actually accepts their bond. I know he won’t though. I believe he rejected her, as he should have, and then was hurt from the mate bond being broken. That was why he collapsed on the floor. He did what he needed to, what he should have done. I am sure that Amanda helped take Katrina to the car for them to run away from here.
“How in the hell could she have gotten by the guards? They all know her scent. They all know that she is not allowed to leave the packlands. She should not have been able to get out of here. I cannot believe that I was outsmarted by these two freaking girls. I should have been harder on Katrina. I should have killed her years ago like I said when I got a call to check on Nina, and I told them that they had both been killed by rogues. No one would have been the wiser. I just couldn’t do it. It made me feel better to hurt her and see the damage that I did to her with each beating. It helped to ease the pain in my heart from losing my mate. I have no idea how she didn’t die from all that I have done to her. I have spared Katrina no mercy since I lost Tori. I miss her so much every day.
I called the doctor from the hospital into my office, so I could question him. I don’t think he knows anything, as he is a trustworthy person, and works for me. I don’t believe I need to ask him any questions, but I am going to question everyone regardless. I need answers and you can only get them from asking hard questions. The doctor sits down and nods at me, and I smiled back at him.
“Trevor, this is just a formality. I don’t believe that you knew anything about it, but I still have to ask you. Did you know that Amanda was going to take Katrina and leave the pack?” I asked him.
“Yes, I did Alpha”, Trevor replied back to me.
“I didn’t think you did, you are excu…wait…what did you just say to me?” I asked him and my tone was dangerous.
“I knew, and I agreed with Amanda. Katrina needed to be saved from this pack. You were eventually going to snap and kill her, and she didn’t deserve that”, Trevor told me, and then sighed. He knew it was coming, and I have to say he has f*g earned it too. I stood up and went over to him, picking him up from his chair and throwing him across the room. He crashed against the wall and then fell straight to the floor. I walked over to pick him up again and slammed him straight into the door. He had been knocked out when he hit the door, and his head was lying on his neck and chest, with his arm hanging at a bad angle. I could care less. I will take his life for allowing Katrina to be taken from here.
I really wish I hadn’t thrown him so hard though. I hate that I knocked him out. I need answers to my questions. I need to know where they went, so I can go and get them. I heard a knock at my door, and I don’t need to deal with anyone else right now. I set the doctor down in the chair he had been sitting in and then tipped him over so he wouldn’t fall out of it. I know I propped him on his bad arm, but that is my gift to him, pain. Maybe the pain that he is going to feel from it will wake him up faster. The knocks are still consistent on my door, and I know that it had to be another Alpha outside my door because my pack members know better than to test me.

I walked over to the door and jerked it open and said, “What?” in a loud tone. I saw Alpha Heath standing there in front of me, and I took it down a notch. I would go toe-to-toe with a lot of people, but he is not one of them. He has a huge pack that I would have no hope at all of beating if it came down to a fight. I pushed down my anger and in a nicer tone I said, “What can I help with Alpha Heath?”
“I heard a commotion in your office, and I needed to talk to you anyway, so I came to see what was going on. Are you OK? You seem very upset” Alpha Heath said, and I looked behind him to see his grandson, Percy, who will be taking over for him when he decides to retire.
“I am totally fine Alpha Heath. We had an incident earlier tonight, and I am just getting to the bottom of it”. I took a step to the side to keep them from seeing the doctor slumped over the arm of the chair. I saw Percy’s eyes glaze over and I knew he saw the doctor in the chair. I also know he is linking Alpha Heath, but this is none of their business. I went ahead and link a few of my warriors to come to my office. I will not allow them to interrupt what I am doing. Whatever I need to do to replace out where she went, because I will get her back. If I need to, I will convince the Alpha of whatever pack she went to that she needs to be returned here, as she is my son’s true mate. Most Alpha’s will help as if it was their mate that ran, they would want them returned to them too.
“We can speak in the morning, Heath, I am a little busy right now. If there is nothing else, please excuse me,” I said and went to close the door, but it was blocked by Heath’s boot. He is really overstepping now, and I open the door a little and hear footsteps coming, and I know it is my men. I start smirking at him, and the next thing I know, I see 6 warriors from Ever Green approach Alpha Heath.
“He did call in some warriors, Percy, but we only needed two men to take the 5 of them down. They should wake up in the next hour. None of them were harmed. What do you need us to do? We already have your luggage in the SUV and we are ready to go” the warrior said, and I growled at Alpha Heath. This was way more than overstepping. This is my pack, and I will not allow them to get away with this. I will be reporting them both to the Alpha King because I know that Percy called them in. I assumed he was linking with Heath. I forget, he comes from a line of Alphas, and his brother is an Alpha too. I needed to get them calmed down before I got into a war with not one, but two packs.
“I think that there has been some confusion here. I am just questioning a witness. I am missing two pack members and I fear for their safety. I would like to get them both back into my pack before they get hurt out there. Neither of them are trained to be able to protect themselves, and one of them is mated to my son. So, as you can see, this is very important to me. Excuse me if I seem overly aggressive to you both, but I need to get them back here as soon as possible. I am only trying to protect them, anything could have happened to them out there. They will be safest, here, with me”, I told them, and I could see that Percy’s eyebrows go up with what I had just told them. I smile a smug smile at them, but I will not get cocky about it yet, they are still both standing here.
