Return Of The Prodigy
Return of the Prodigy Chapter 203

Katie did not know what to do.

The holiday resort and Plot No. 3 were both under construction, so Hartley Group was very tight on funding. Otherwise, she would not have to make a loan from Rivers Bank. She did have 30 million on hand, but it was barely enough to keep both projects running. It was probably only enough to sustain operations for a month. It was impossible for her to lend Austin the money! However, if she did not help Austin, the construction would come to a halt and it was the last thing she wanted to see. On the surface, it seemed as though she still had choices. In reality, every option was bad.

Did she have to ask Adam for help?

Adam was a man of high status, and there was no limit on his bank card. All she had to do was ask him for help, and he could tide her over effortlessly. However, she wanted to solve the problem on her own independently! Katie was stuck in a dilemma.

A wave of car honks could be heard coming from the construction site. A fleet of cement mixing trucks could be seen driving out, 20 trucks all told.

When they got to the construction site entrance, the drivers kept honking for the people in front of the gate to get out of their way.

The sound left Katie's mind in chaos, and it was harder for her to calm down and think properly with all the ruckus around.

Leroy waved his hand, and the drivers stopped honking.

Leroy beamed brightly. He laughed and said mockingly, "Katie, you're running out of time. Have you decided? Are you helping the guy or not? It's just a paltry sum. Aren't you going to help? You are the president of the chamber. Is this how you treat your friends? Are you going to watch him die?"

Austin Turner hastily lunged onto the ground and knelt in front of Katie. He bowed to her repeatedly and begged, "Ms. Hartley, please save me! I can't let them take the trucks. If they do, I'm done for. I'll never recover from this! I have parents and kids to feed. Ms. Hartley, I beg you. Won't you please help me?"

Katie frowned as she said sadly, "Mr. Turner, I really want to help you, but you already know the company's situation. This is the last of my cash flow. If I lend you the money, I..."

Austin clasped his hands together and looked up at Katie, eyes wide and pleading. "Please!" he whimpered, "Please please please please please..." His hands were gripping each other so tightly that his knuckles and fingertips had turned white. "Ms. Hartley, I know this is a tough decision for you as well, but I have no choice. You're the only person capable of saving me. If you don't save me, I can only jump off some building and kill myself." Katie parted her lips. She wanted to turn down Austin, but she could not bring herself to do it.

A car pulled up nearby.

When the car door opened, a woman carrying a child charged over. She said with tears trickling down her face, "I hear our family is going bankrupt. What happened?" Austin said in surprise, "What are you doing here? Go back. Our kid shouldn't be here to see this."

The woman disregarded him. She kept crying as she said, "I know you've made a lot of sacrifices for this family. Even if we have to go bankrupt, I won't leave you. We can always work hard together and rebuild our lives. If you try to kill yourself, what's going to happen to us?"

Austin moved two steps forward on his knees. He hugged the woman and said apologetically, "I'm so sorry. It was my fault for running up the debt. I'm an unworthy husband."

The two of them embraced each other as they wept powerlessly!

Disturbed by all the crying, the child started crying as well.

The three of them cried desperately!

Leroy shook his head and sighed pretentiously. "I'm so moved by you lot. Unfortunately... Ms. Hartley, please tell your men to get out of the way. Mr. Collins needs to take the vehicles." Katie's face turned cold.

Austin let go of his wife and turned to implore. "Ms. Hartley, please help me. I beg you."

Austin's wife also turned to beg Katie. "Ms. Hartley, we will be forever grateful if you could save us."

"I... I..." Katie stammered but was unable to say no. She hesitated for a few seconds before she sighed and nodded. "Okay. I'll help with the money, just get up, okay?"

Instantly, a look of relief swept across the faces of the Turner couples. They continued bowing gratefully.

"Thank you, Ms. Hartley."

"Thank you so much, Ms. Hartley."

Katie bent over to help them up. She raised her head and looked at Leroy frostily. "I'll pay his debt. Tell your men to leave this instant."

Leroy chuckled and said, "Katie, do you really want to help him? Even if you help him pay the debt, your company will still go bankrupt. I don't know why you're even trying. I told you, you're in no position to fight the Camdens. It's just a matter of time before your company goes bankrupt! When the time comes, you will come begging me for help." He laughed smugly before he turned to leave the construction site.

Nathan sneered coolly and said, "You have 12 hours to settle this. If I don't see the money tomorrow, I'm taking the trucks."

Before long, Leroy and his men got into the car and left. The concrete mixing trucks went back to the construction site, and construction resumed as usual.

Katie looked at Austin and his family sullenly. "Enough. Why don't you get your injuries sorted out at the hospital? I'm calling the bank now so that the money will be transferred to your bank account this afternoon." Austin thanked Katie again for her generosity before leaving with his family.

Thirty minutes later, Leroy arrived at Lush Life Spa and found Wyatt.

Wyatt was still dressed in his sleeping robes, apparently having just woken up. He sat in the hall and lit a cigarette and said confidently, "Judging by the look on your face, I can tell the ploy has succeeded." Leroy composed himself and said annoyedly, "If you had such a good idea, why didn't you share it sooner?"

Wyatt exhaled a ring of smoke, smiled, and said, "Weren't you afraid I was here to steal credit?"

Leroy flushed. He lit a cigarette as well and asked, "What should we do now? How long will it take to finish off Hartley Group for good?"

"By tomorrow!" Wyatt replied confidently.

Leroy nodded and asked quizzically, "Does Austin work for you?"

Wyatt paused briefly before glancing at Leroy.

Leroy raised his brow and asked quizzically, "Does Con-Tech belong to you?"

Wyatt said nothing. He simply answered mildly, "I'm only here to help you take out Hartley Group. Stop asking questions."

"How are you going to finish off Hartley Group tomorrow?" Leroy narrowed his eyes triumphantly as he spoke.

"Don't worry. I have already made arrangements. I'm going to pull Hartley Group under and make sure they will never be able to come back up again!" Wyatt laughed sinisterly.

"In that case, I wish you all the best!"

Wyatt shook his head and sighed. "It's such a pity I can't expose myself. Otherwise, I would've come along with you tomorrow. I'm dying to see their faces in person when they hear the bad news." Leroy chuckled and said, "That's simple enough. I can stream it to you."

Little did they know that a soldier from Black Snake Brigade was right next door listening to their conversation. He put down his headphones and made a call to Black Dragon.

Before long, Black Dragon called Adam.

"Drake the Dragon, I confirm this was a plot."

"Keep eyes on them and don't let them run. Also, replace out who the mastermind was," Adam said mildly.

"Roger. Do you need me to arrange anything for tomorrow?"

"No, it's fine. I have faith in Katie."
