Return Of The Prodigy
Return of the Prodigy Chapter 67

Adam frowned slightly. "That's it?"

Joseph smiled and said nothing.

Adam waved his hand, and Black Dragon got up.

"Since you don't want to talk, I'll make you spit out the words with my fist," said Black Dragon

Joseph's eyes focused, and he sprinted toward the exit all of a sudden.

The sudden turn of events left everyone stunned. Joseph looked very confident until a moment ago, but now he was on the run.

Black Dragon was also surprised. "Fuck!" he cursed and chased after Joseph.

However, Joseph had the upper hand, and one of his legs was already out of the room. It would take him only a second to turn around the corner and disappear. Bang!

There was a loud sound. Something had smashed into the door, shutting it. At the same time, countless shards shot toward Joseph's face.

Joseph leaped sideways, narrowly dodging the shards, and preventing his face from being disfigured. Even then, a piece brushed past his ear, snipping a lock of his hair. Joseph took a careful look at the door, noticing that it was hit by an ashtray, or what was left of it. He was now clear that it was Adam who intercepted him earlier.

A feeling of unease welled up inside him. However, Black Dragon was hot on his heels, so he did not have the time to ponder this matter.

Black Dragon punched at him, and the strength behind the fist was nothing to sneeze at.

Joseph raised both his arms to parry the blow.

The impact was so strong that Joseph staggered backward, his arms numb.

"Dammit, this one is also strong," Joseph cursed and stepped sideways, aiming his punch at Black Dragon's ribs.

Black Dragon used his left hand to parry the blow, followed by a punch to Joseph's head with his free hand.

Joseph was quick to react. He dodged Black Dragon's attack and used the wall next to him as a springboard to put some distance between them. In the next moment, he took out some playing cards from his pockets and threw them at Black Dragon. The cards made a whistling sound as they rained down on Black Dragon.

Black Dragon subconsciously raised his arm to block the attack. However, the cards easily cut his clothes and skin. Surprised, he hurried to roll sideways. Shikk! Shikk! Shikk!

The cards were like blades as they embedded themselves into the ground and nearby walls. They gleamed under the lamplight, giving off an eerie feeling.

These playing cards were not made of paper but of a thin sheet of stainless steel and thus extremely sharp.

Holy shit! Black Dragon broke out in a cold sweat and cursed inwardly. If he had been a tad slower with his sideways roll, he might be a corpse now. He had made such a stupid mistake and in front of Drake the Dragon on top of that. He flew into a rage, sprinting toward Joseph and ready to tear him to pieces. "Get here!"

Black Dragon pounced at Joseph like a wild animal. The latter hurried to dodge and put some distance between them. At the same time, he threw all kinds of weapons at his opponent. Playing cards, chips, needles...

Black Dragon could only dodge and then go after Joseph again. However, he was slower than his attacker, so it would take him some time to catch up to him.

"Fuck, I really want to see how many weapons you have hidden on you!" Black Dragon roared, relentlessly chasing after Joseph.

"That's enough. You're slower than him, let me take it from here," Adam, who sat on the sofa, said suddenly.

"Drak-Boss, I haven't lost yet," said Black Dragon, still unconvinced.

Adam got up and replied, "He's not as strong as you are, but he's quicker. Nevertheless, it's easy to defeat him by making use of our surroundings."

With that, Adam kicked the sofa he was sitting on until a moment ago toward Joseph.

"Fuck!" Joseph dodged sideways and started running again.

Adam followed him like a shadow. Before the sofa could fall to the ground, he was already in front of Joseph.

Joseph was startled. He stretched out his hand to throw the weapons hidden on his body, however, Adam's hands moved as fast as lightning, grabbing the other's shoulder and yanking it hard. Crack!

Joseph's right shoulder was dislocated, and his arm dangled limply.

"Ahhh!" Joseph cried out in pain, but he still tried to make use of his other arm.

Crack!

In the next moment, Joseph's left arm met the exact same fate.

In a matter of seconds, he had lost the use of both arms. The difference between them was too vast.

At this critical moment, Joseph opened his mouth and shot something at Adam.

The two were very close, and Adam did not have the time to dodge.

Despite the impending danger, Adam's expression did not change. As if he had already predicted the attack, he moved his head slightly to the side and the glistening object brushed past his neck.

At the same time, Joseph leaned backward and used the floor as a springboard to launch himself toward the window.

At the critical moment, Joseph chose to jump off the building.

The building was not too tall and had only four stories, but if one did not manage to adjust their posture while landing, they would die on the spot.

Adam walked up to the window and looked outside.

"Drake the Dragon, I'll chase after him." Black Dragon prepared to rush outside and chase after Joseph.

However, Adam grabbed his arm and said, "There is no need for that. Check the weapons he used. It should help us discover his identity."

"Damn, the fight just now was too frustrating," griped Black Dragon unhappily.

"Black Dragon, no need to get angry. That guy was a coward and didn't dare to fight you head-on. Of course, this didn't stop our boss from dislocating both of his shoulders in seconds. He paid the price for injuring me yesterday." Paul seized the opportunity to flatter Black Dragon and Adam. Black Dragon glanced at him.

Paul stood with his head high, not embarrassed in the slightest. "I'm just telling the truth."

Black Dragon felt exasperated by Paul's attitude.

Adam turned around and headed for the exit. "Since the matter here has been resolved, I'll take my leave. Report to me if you replace any information on Joseph Alfieri's identity."

"All right."

"Thank you, Boss."

Black Dragon and Paul replied.

Adam headed downstairs and glanced at the sofa where Riya had been sitting. The sofa was now empty; it seemed she had left already.

Adam shook his head and left Tarot Club, returning to the hotel.

When he got into the room, he saw Katie putting the papers on her desk in order.

"You're back," said Katie without turning her head.

Katie's words left Adam dazed. It was just an ordinary sentence and there was nothing special about it, yet it was something he had been craving for a long time. This was what it meant to have a family to return to. No matter how late, there would always be someone waiting for him. "Yeah, I'm back. Is Annie asleep?" asked Adam as he took off his shoes.

Katie nodded. "Yes."

"Mom called me and told me about what happened with my aunt. You did nothing wrong, thank you," said Katie as she turned to look at him.

Adam forced a smile. "I bet your parents blamed me for what happened."

Katie smiled. "I already told them how things stand. You were just trying to help me. Don't worry about my parents, I'll deal with them."

Adam and Katie chatted for a while. They said no sweet words to each other and only chatted casually. However, this experience was not worth any less.

Sweet words were like honey, and their sweetness would last for a day at most. Yet, the casual talk they were having would accompany them forever.

-

The next day, early morning.

Katie and Adam took Annie to the kindergarten, then headed to the office together. As soon as they reached their destination, they saw several people gathered at the main gate. The scene was so chaotic that it reminded them of a farmer's market. "What's happening?" Katie frowned, moving toward the gate.

As she got closer, someone yelled, "Katie Hartley is here! That's Katie Hartley!"

The crowd turned to look at Katie. Then, several reporters squeezed through the mob and approached Katie with cameras and mics, starting to take pictures of her.

"Ms. Hartley, do you look down on the poor? Is that why you break off relationships with your aunt?"

"Ms. Hartley, you're managing a project worth hundreds of millions of dollars and there should be many job opportunities. Why did you refuse to give your cousin a shot?" "Ms. Hartley, did your parents really kick your aunt out of their house?"

Questions rained down on Katie, who stood there dumbfounded. She had no idea what was happening.

At this point, Amanda and Riya squeezed out of the crowd, holding rotten eggs, tomatoes, and other vegetables, which they threw at Katie.

Adam moved swiftly. He hugged Katie and blocked everything that was thrown at her.

In the blink of an eye, Adam was covered in filth, and a horrible stench spread out in the area.

"Everyone, take a look! That's Katie Hartley! She looks down on the poor and doesn't want to have anything to do with her poor relatives now that she struck it rich with this project. "She's willing to support her demented boy toy but refuses to help her relatives even a little bit.

"They are a family of ungrateful people, and they kicked us out of their place, forcing me and my daughter to sleep in the streets!

"Please help us!"

Amanda cried her heart out. If they were not privy to the situation, they would believe that the poor woman had been badly mistreated.

As for Riya, she looked at Adam with a complicated expression.

After she had drained that glass last night, she soon lost consciousness. By the time she woke up, it was already morning, and she was in a hospital bed.
