Return Of The Prodigy
Return of the Prodigy Chapter 66

"What are you doing in this place?" asked Adam with a frown.

Riya sneered, "Heh, do you still dare to question me? I'm here with my friends. Do you have a problem with it?

"What about you, though? Why are you here? Were you following me? Do you want to take revenge for what happened earlier?"

Adam's frown deepened. "I'm here because I need to take care of something. This isn't a good place to be, you should go home."

"Hehe, don't make me laugh. What kind of business might a madman like you have here? I bet you're here because you want to cheat on Katie.

"But the question is, how much money do you have on you? Do you know how expensive this place is? A single bottle of wine here costs the same as a year of your nonexistent salary!" Riya sniggered.

Adam did not want to argue with her further and prepared to leave. As for that man spiking the drinks, he was not going to deal with him personally. He would call the security guards and have them throw him out.

However, that man unexpectedly walked up to Riya and said with a smile, "Riya, who is this? Do you know him?"

"He's a distant relative, a live-in son-in-law with mental issues," Riya said with disdain. "He got into a fight with me today, and I think he followed me here."

The man frowned and said with a sneer, "I'll let him off since he's a relative of yours. Otherwise, I would've made him kneel and apologize to you."

"Ugh, I don't have a relative like him," said Riya, disgusted.

The man's eyes twinkled. He wrapped his arm around Riya's shoulder and said, "If that's the case, I'll help you teach him a lesson." He then motioned at Adam with his finger and commanded, "Listen up, you'll only get one chance. Get down on your knees and apologize to her. Then, get the hell out of here. I don't want to see you in this place again."

Adam shook his head. The world was full of men that would lose their minds as long as a pretty girl was around. However, Riya was Katie's cousin, and he could not just watch as she was taken advantage of.

"He spiked your drink. Whether you want to drink it or not, it's up to you. Goodbye," Adam reminded Riya and turned around to leave.

The man's complexion changed, and he cursed, "Motherfucker, stop right there! When did I put anything in her drink?"

Adam did not feel like wasting his time with him, so he just kept walking.

Embarrassed, the man flew into a rage and grabbed a bottle of wine, throwing it at Adam.

Adam turned around swiftly, grabbing the bottle before it could hit him. His face turned cold, and he said, "Do you want to die?"

Seeing the murderous intent in Adam's eyes, the man was scared out of his wits. However, since Riya was by his side, he gritted his teeth and continued, "Son of a bitch, how dare you slander me? I'm not going to let you off!"

"You're well aware of what you did. And if I'm just lying, you should have no problem draining that, right?" asked Adam pointing to the glass.

The man was taken aback for a moment, but he yelled to cover his embarrassment, "Who do you think you are? Why should I do as a madman says? You accused me of spiking her drink. Do you have any proof?"

The ruckus attracted the attention of the people around. The music stopped as did the people on the dance floor; they all turned to look at them.

"What's happening?"

"That man seems to have put something in that girl's drink."

"Oh, here comes the loser that needs to use drugs to pick up girls. He's a disgrace to every man on this planet."

The crowd chided the young man.

The man's face flushed amid all the jeering, and Riya was no better either. She yelled suddenly, "Don't listen to him! He's just a madman who likes running his mouth and spouting nonsense!" Then she turned to Adam. "Drake, you've caused enough trouble. You followed me all the way here, and you're still not satisfied? Bill is my friend, and there is no way he would put something in my drink. Since you keep throwing accusations around, I'll prove you wrong here and now!"

She then grabbed the drink on the table and drained the content in one go.

Seeing that she had disregarded her safety just to prove him wrong, Adam groaned, "What an idiot."

He then turned around and left, no longer paying Riya any heed. If she was so eager to bring about her destruction, she was free to do so. He would not stop her.

At the same time, the security guards stormed the place and pacified the patrons. The music resumed, and the crowd returned to the dance floor. Within the blink of an eye, everything returned to normal as if nothing had ever happened. Adam took the elevator to the top floor and headed to Paul's office.

Paul got up to greet him as he saw Adam enter the office. His right arm was in plaster, and he was forced to use an arm sling. He was in a rather sorry state.

Black Dragon, who was sitting on the sofa, also got up and greeted Adam, "Drake the Dragon."

Adam waved his hand and said, "There are no outsiders here, so no need for such formalities. Take your seats.

"I assume that guy isn't here yet."

Paul looked at the clock and said, "He should be here soon."

Adam nodded. "In that case, let's wait."

"Boss, do you want to drink something?" asked Paul.

"No, thanks. Anyway, I wish to watch what he does first. You and Black Dragon should deal with him when he gets here," said Adam.

Paul nodded and started pacing back and forth in the room, too anxious to sit down.

Not long after, one of Paul's subordinates came to notify them. "Mr. Booker, that man is here."

A few moments later, Joseph Alfieri entered the room. He walked in as if he were strolling in his backyard, wearing a smile on his calm face.

Today, he had changed into a set of white, casual clothes, and his shoulder-length hair was slicked back. The only thing that had remained was that green chip dancing between his fingers. Whether he was walking or sitting, the movement of his hand did not stop. Adam narrowed his eyes. This guy seems good with his hands.

With no trace of politeness, Joseph walked up to the other sofa and sat down. He acted as if he owned the place.

"Heh, did you change bodyguards today?" Joseph teased. "Mr. Booker, have you considered my proposal?"

Paul scoffed. "There is nothing to consider, and my reply is the same as before. There will be no casinos in Lisle!"

"Oh?" Joseph frowned, his calm expression suddenly becoming grim. "Mr. Booker, does this mean that you've given up on your life? Or do you think you can stop me with your new bodyguards?"

Paul kept his cool and did not panic. Black Dragon and Drake the Dragon were with him today, so no matter who came at him, that person would be destroyed.

"I

I suggest you abandon this foolish plan and leave Lisle," Paul retorted. "Do that, and I'll act as if nothing ever happened. Otherwise... Do you see this arm? You might end up the same."

"Hahaha, Mr. Booker, you're an outstanding individual for being able to sit on this throne. Unfortunately, words won't get you far in the underworld. Without strength, you're bound to be crushed soon or later.

"However, I don't blame you. You're just a frog in the well who has never seen how vast the world outside is. There are people who are much stronger than you are, and you can't afford to offend them. Mr. Booker, farewell."

With a flick of his wrist, Joseph threw the green chip between his fingers at Paul, aiming for his throat.

If the attack was successful, Paul would perish on the spot.

The chip flew through the air as fast as lightning. Paul only saw a blur and had no time to dodge.

At this moment when Paul's life was at stake, another object shot in the air at high speed.

Clang!

The green chip fell to the ground, breaking into three. As for the other object, it kept flying and nailed itself to the opposite wall.

When they turned to look at it, it turned out to be the cigar cutter that was on the table.

Joseph's pupils constricted, and he stared at Black Dragon and Adam, who calmly sat on the sofa.

The cigar cutter was thrown so quickly that Joseph did not get to see who threw it. Moreover, it was important to remember that Joseph had the upper hand as he initiated the attack. Yet, his opponent was able to grab the cigar cutter on the table and intercept his attack. The enemy this time is formidable. And he's faster than I am...

"Hehe, Mr. Booker, it seems you've hired someone pretty skilled." He then got up and greeted Adam and Black Dragon. "My name is Joseph Alfieri. May I ask which of you two intercepted my attack?" "Why did you come to Lisle? Who sent you here?" Adam said calmly.

The answer to this question was what concerned Adam the most. He did not wish for Lisle's underworld to be thrown into chaos, and he was puzzled as to why someone like Joseph would be here.

Lisle was just a small city, and it was unlikely to attract the attention of a big shot. Someone as skilled as Joseph would thrive even in the underworld of a big city, so what was his reason for coming to Lisle?

Was my identity exposed? Are the enemies of the Drakes on the move? Is this person someone they sent here to probe the situation?

If that were the case, this matter was directly related to the massacre of his family six years ago. For this reason, Adam could only tread carefully.

Joseph's expression did not change in the slightest as he replied, "No one sent me here. I came to Lisle in search of wealth, and the skills I have are best suited to the management of casinos."
