Return Of The Real Heiress: Secrets And Masks -
My Billionaire Family 469
Chapter 469
The doctor's words left Rita completely stunned. She stood there, staring blankly at the tightly shut doors of the operating room.
Her grip on the hem of her skirt nearly wrinkled it beyond recognition, her hesitation written all over her face.
Internally, she cursed, 'How could Morris be so heartless? A woman> means her entire life loses its worth.
t a uterus-does he know what that means? It
'She'll be nothing more than a puppet, an empty shell of who she once was. How could my granddaughter, someone I've poured so much hope into, be ruined like this? No. There has to be another way.
The doctor assumed Rita was too distraught to process what was happening. Feeling pity for her, he called out, "Ms. Hawkins? Ms. Hawkins, time is running out. Please, you need to decide now."
Rita took a deep breath, pulled her phone from her handbag, and turned to the doctor. "This is serious. Give me two more minutes to make a call."
She walked to the window and dialed the first contact in her address book. The first call went unanswered, and she called again. The second time, the line rang for an agonizingly long moment before someone picked up. "What is it?" Hearing the voice, Rita immediately said, "Rayburn, I need your help. Something's happened to Yulia. She's bleeding heavily, and the doctors say they need to remove her uterus. Can you come to the hospital and take a look at her?"
Rayburn went silent for a few seconds before replying coldly, "I told you she'd get into trouble because of you. Now you're facing the consequences, aren't you?
"One of you is stubborn and scheming, while the other doesn't take care of herself and is self-destructive. This is the outcome of your own making. I'm sorry, but I can't help. Just listen to the doctors."
With that, the call ended, leaving Rita with nothing but the steady beep of the disconnect tone.
Anger and frustration overwhelmed her as she sank weakly into a chair. After a moment of deliberation, she turned to the doctor and said, "Dr. Hart, do as you said. Remove the uterus."

After spending a full day and night out, Cherise returned to the Chivers Residence, freshly showered and with her work at Global Vision Group completed.
As she stepped into the vast, empty house, a hollow feeling settled in her chest. She couldn't help but wonder how Morris was doing.
Picking up her phone, she saw that news about Morris's disappearance had started to spread online. She clicked on a few posts, scrolling through the comments.
Most were blaming her, saying her bad luck had somehow affected Morris. Others were calling for their wedding to be called off, claiming she was a curse.
Cherise chuckled softly. She knew who was behind the smear campaign, and it didn't bother her in the slightest, With a casual toss, she let the phone land on the couch, choosing to ignore it altogether.
Just as she turned toward the kitchen to make herself something to eat, her phone rang. The caller ID showed it was Mary.
As soon as the call connected, Cherise didn't even have a chance to speak before Mary said frantically, "Cherise. I saw online that Morris has gone missing. Is that true? What a tragedy! You've only just come back, and now this has happened to him. 10:21 Sat, Dec 28

Compared to Mary's anxious tone, Phoebe's voice was much calmer. online-is it true?
"Just ignore those comments and posts. Those people are just hired trolls, jealous of others' happiness, and willing to spread nonsense for a bit of money."
Cherise chuckled softly, surprised that Phoebe was comforting her at a time like this. She replied, "I understand. But it's true that Morris has gone missing."
Hearing Cherise's response, Phoebe paused for a few seconds before saying, "It's fine. He's a grown man. If he's missing for a few days, so be it, Don't worry about it, Cherise.
"I know Morris-he grew up enduring hardships. He'd never do anything to let you down. When he gets back, just let me
know."
Cherise responded softly, "Alright, Mrs. Chivers. I trust him. I'll tell you as soon as he comes home." The moment she finished speaking, the sound of the front door unlocking echoed loudly through the house. Phoebe heard it too and asked, "What was that sound? Everything okay, Cherise?"
Cherise's gaze landed on the tall figure stepping inside. A smile of relief and joy spread across her face as she replied warmly, "Nothing. It's just that... Morris is home!"

After hanging up, Cherise set her phone down and stared fixedly at the man standing by the door. He was still wearing the same clothes and shoes from the day he left.
"Cherise, I'm back. Did you miss me?" Morris asked with a familiar, indulgent smile, gazing at Cherise.
Cherise nodded. "Yes," she replied softly. Seeing him about to take a step toward her, she quickly continued, "Stay right there. Don't move. I'll come to you."
Morris's smile deepened as he complied. "Alright," he said gently standing in place. The distance between them was about 30 feet, and Cherise nearly broke into a run as she closed it.
Her initial plan was to tiptoe and give him a light kiss, but just as she reached him, Morris spread his arms and, with a swift motion, lifted her.
He spun her around in a circle, holding her tightly, her feet leaving the ground. His embrace was se firm that it felt as though he wanted to merge her into himself.
In a low, tender voice, he kept murmuring, "I'm back. I missed you so much. I'm back. I didn't betray you, I'm back. I wasn't tempted by anyone else I held onto my principles. I..."
