Richest Mogul 1285
Chapter 1285
The call hadn’t ended yet, but she could hear the voices of security personnel passing by. It seemed Skylar wouldn’t get to see Joe today.
“Is there anything else?” Joe suddenly asked.
Skylar’s eyes turned red as she asked, “If I said I have evidence proving you’re Joe Martin, would you meet me now?”
The call was abruptly disconnected as soon as the words left her mouth.
Skylar stood frozen in place, her body stiff. A sense of disappointment and confusion washed over her.
After a moment, she regained her composure and called the airline to book a ticket to Murida
tomorrow.
At that moment, in the airport lounge, Rosa glanced at Ned, who had just finished his call. Hist unusually silent demeanor and tense expression made her feel anxious and uneasy.
She suddenly felt a wave of apprehension wash over her. “Ned? Was it work–related?”
He hadn’t answered when she asked who was on the other end of the line. She had a gut feeling that the person calling Ned was Skylar, but she didn’t know what they had discussed.
Looking at Ned and recalling all the news articles about him, Rosa felt increasingly uneasy. There was a nagging sensation that this man before her would soon belong to someone else.
Ned lifted his gaze to meet Rosa’s. “It’s nothing.
She bit her lip, wondering if it truly was nothing
Reflecting on Ned’s brief words during the call, they had been concise and without much detail. He had merely asked if there was anything else, his tone cold, similar to how he spoke with his employees.
But for some reason, Rosa felt that something was off.
“Ned, I miss our home,” Rosa said softly.
Ned snapped back to reality and looked down at Rosa, who was gazing at him cautiously, as if afraid of losing him.
“We’ll be home soon.” He reassured her.
“Ned, you’re the person I love the most in this world. Promise me you won’t leave me, okay? Soon, we’ll have a home that belongs to us. Just like we used to talk about, we’ll have a few kids, and then we can all live happily together.”
Rosa painted a vivid picture of their hopeful future.
This wish was something she had once made with Ned. Many men would replace it hard to resist such a warm dream. After a moment of contemplation, Joe nodded in agreement.
Rosa was overjoyed. “Good thing we’ve decorated three kids‘ rooms. We have to have at least three kids. Both of us grew up as orphans, and I hope our home will be filled with laughter and joy.”
Joe seemed lost in thought and asked, “What did the police tell you about my accident back then?”
“Why are you suddenly asking about the accident?” Rosa’s smile faded instantly. She couldn’t shake the thought of who had made that call earlier.
It was Skylar; it had to be Skylar. Rosa knew she wouldn’t give up easily. She was determined to ruin her life.
“The place where you had the car accident didn’t have any surveillance. You were thrown from the car, and several people died in that crash,” Rosa reluctantly explained under Ned’s intense
gaze.
But in truth, she didn’t know all the details. The police had only said there was no surveillance footage, and the other car had vanished. Only several people had died.
In that car accident, Ned was the only one who survived.
Ned recalled that when he woke up, there were no police to investigate the cause of the crash. Beyond his hospital stay of over a month, there had been no further information about the incident.
