Selling Myself To The Alpha -
Chapter 166
Adele POV
Relief washes over me when the plane touches the ground
It is official I hate flying.
"Are you okay?" Axel asks concerned as we get off the plane. "You look a little pale."
"I'm fine. Just give me a minute," I wave it off. "It was my first time on a plane."
"You're joking," he gapes at me.
"Not everybody grew up rich," I grunt and take deep breaths of fresh air as we walk towards the rental car.
"I'm sorry," I apologise instantly. "I didn't mean to snap at you."
"I understand," he smiles. "You just don't feel so good."
"Terrible is the word," I mumble and get into the car. The truth is, I feel like hell. My legs are wobbly, and the bile is sitting at the bottom of my throat, threatening to overpower me. But not even feeling this weak, will stop me from getting Sheldon. I had to pretend that I was clueless about their operations, and I hated it. I want him to know that he was the one being played, not me.
"We can wait a couple of hours until you feel better," Axel offers as he starts the engine.
"Just drive," I sigh, close my eyes and lean back into the seat. "I'll get over it."
*******
I watch Axel thanking the Motel manager and running back to the car where the team and I await him.
"And?" I ask eagerly as he gets in.
"We're in luck," he replies. "The manager loves money more than his client's safety. He's willing to help us. Sheldon and his family are residing here. They're at the pool."
"Nice," I grin. "We can drown him and make it look like an accident. It's less drama than transporting a body across the border."
"Sure," he smirks. "But that would bring unwanted authorities to our packs. The manager will lure Sheldon back to his room with a sob story about a housekeeper breaking something."
"Let's go then," I open my door.
Quickly, we make our way to Sheldon's room and hide in the bathroom. We do not have to wait long until we hear footsteps approaching.
"I'm truly sorry," the manager says. "We'll replace it."
"What baffles my mind is how she managed to break it in the first place," Sheldon argues. "I bought that console for my son yesterday and it's still in the box."
"I'm sorry, sir," the manager continues as they unlock the door.
"You should fire her," Sheldon huffs as they enter the room.
We wait until Sheldon is in the centre of the room before we step outside our hiding places.
"Hello, Sheldon," Axel says and Sheldon pales as he looks at us.
"Don't think about it," Axel warns when Sheldon looks at the door. "Mind-linking your wife or making a run for it, is a bad idea. Chris and a team are waiting outside. You don't want your kids to see this, do you?" "Thank you, sir," Axel looks at the manager. "You may leave.
It is quiet in the room as the manager leaves.
"I've been waiting for this moment since I set foot in your office that first day," I sneer.
"This is it," he sighs and sits down on the nearest chair. "! had a good run. I know my punishment is death, but I'm begging you. Don't let my kids see this and please spare them. They're innocent."
"Now you're concerned about innocence," I roll my eyes. "It didn't bother you when you took advantage of desperate women."
"Listen, I don't care if you judge me," he looks at me. "1 did what I did and now I'm going to pay the price. I'm simply asking that you spare my children, but the choice is yours."
"Call your wife and kids back to the room," Axel orders him.
"You will tell them that you must go back for urgent business. If you so much as twitch in the wrong direction, I will kill your family in front of you."
Sheldon nods and mind-links his wife.
Liana POV
I take a deep breath as David, and I walk into Silvermann Enterprises' boardroom. My eyes search for Reese, and I walk towards him.
"Thank you for doing this," I whisper.
"Don't tell me you're nervous," he looks at me surprised." You fought a pack of wolves in human form, surely you're capable of talking to a room of people."
"m just the Luna, remember?" I raise my eyebrows and he has the decency to look away awkwardly.
"I didn't know what I was talking about," he mumbles."
Sorry."
"You don't need to apologize" I laugh softly. "I'm not offended, it's a fact of life. A lot of men - especially alphas
- don't take women seriously with these things. And I don't hold it against you. Alphas were raised to be exceptional.
Besides that, I used to be human and many still hold that against me. The alphas will take you more seriously than me. My voice will be heard, but not tonight. Tonight, I need them to listen."
"Let's go make them listen," Reese smiles and guides me to my chair.
"Alphas," Reese says loudly, and everybody quiets down. "What I'm about to tell you, isn't easy to hear. And I wouldn't have believed it if I hadn't seen it for myself."
I sit quietly as Reese informs them of all the disturbing things we uncovered at Dark Moon. Asking Reese to tell them, was the right choice. It is a well-known fact that Moonstone and Clear Moon are allies, getting the information from a third party is more convincing.
"The members of Dark Moon need a home," Reese continues. "Clear Moon, Moonstone and I will take as many as we can accommodate, but it's not enough. We need your help."
There is a moment of murmuring and deliberation before a few of the alphas raise their hands, and David writes down their names.
"Thank you," Reese nods and glares at the alphas who did not volunteer. "I'm not going to lie; I'm a little disappointed in the rest of you."
"Come on, Reese," Alpha Jones speaks up. "This is not a small thing you're asking. We're talking entire families here.
People that need housing and jobs. Those rescued wolves are going to need medical care for goddess knows how long. My pack doesn't have the resources."
"Those wolves will remain here," I say aloud, and everybody turns to look at me. "We already started converting a building into a wellness clinic for them. They will receive around the clock care which includes therapy and counselling."
"It's noble of you but do you have any idea of the financial strain on your pack?" Jones argues. "Clear Moon is a rich pack, but it will drain your resources and negatively impact your members."
"Dark Moon is funding it," I pull my shoulders back and look him in the eye. "Philip made himself extraordinarily rich with his illegal activities. He has no heirs or living family members, and we took over his resources when we took over his pack." "Who gives you the right to decide where the money goes?" Jones' nose is flaring with anger. "You don't know the first thing about economics and ..."
"I know enough," I cut him off sharply. "Dark Moon's money is blood money. Nobody gets to keep it, it's wrong.
Something good must come from this, and since were the ones who risked our lives to free the world from that evil bastard, it's our right to decide what to do with it."
"All the packs who volunteered to take in wolves will receive compensation from Dark Moon's funds for every wolf they take in," I continue as I stand up. "We never asked you to bleed, we asked you to help."
"You could've led with that," Jones huffs. "I would've ..."
"Exactly," I cut him off brusquely. "You would've helped if you were gaining something. The alphas who volunteered did so selflessly. That tells me they have caring hearts, and that they will act in the best interests of people in need. Their act of kindness will be rewarded."
"Rest assured, gentlemen," I look at the alphas. "Not a single cent from Dark Moon will go to any individual's pocket. Including ours. The money will help the pack members to get on their feet. They have suffered enough."
"For those of you who doubt our intentions," I look at Jones. "Feel free to contact Silvermann Enterprises' legal department. They will provide you with financial records about everything we confiscated. Including Dark Moon's bank accounts as proof that we didn't keep anything for ourselves."
"Are there more questions?" Reese asks.
"Are you going to sell Dark Moon's estate?" Thomas, one of the volunteering alphas, asks.
"Do you want to buy it?" I smile at him.
"No," he chuckles nervously. "I have no use for it."
"Does anybody else want to buy it?" I ask the room and they all laugh and shake their heads.
"Good," I smile as I walk away. "Because were going to burn it to the ground."
