Sky's Rejection -
Sky’s Rejection Chapter 56
(Dimitri’s POV)
‘Find out whats wrong with mate. Something is wrong with mate. Should we call the doctor? Maybe we should just take her to the pack hospital.’ Demon rants in a panic as he paces around my mind. I really need to have him calm down so I can think.
Since we got Sky home three days ago something has been off. I was concerned that maybe the vampires did something to her. What if it isn’t reversible? I can’t think like that right now. She hasn’t awoken since she fell asleep in my arms. Ariel helped bathe her while I waited next to her. The night passed and turned into day. I started to worry but Diane said she was probably just tired and needed the rest. Day became night and then proceeding into another day. At this point I tried to wake her. Shaking her awake, putting her into a cold bath. Anything I could think of.
She didn’t even budge.
At this point I don’t know what to do. Father and mother are keeping the pack going as I try to keep up with the paperwork from home and trying to figure out what has happened to my mate.
That is why I chose to call this meeting. I look around at everyone surrounding me and realize how everyone else seems just as worried or stressed as I am. Ty is pacing, bags under his eyes, almost looking as if he has lost weight. Dean seems anxious, glancing all around, as if someone may jump him at any second. Diane has her hand on Dean’s leg, seeming as if she is trying to calm him down but also looking stressed and lost in her own mind. Ariel is ready to pop her pup any day now as she sits curled up on top of Mark with a tear stricken face. This seems to be getting under all those pregnancy emotions.
“I am not honestly sure where to start…” I begin trying to clear my throat of any emotion lingering in my words. I need to get to the bottom of this. “Diane, lets start with you telling me every detail you know that happened at the vampire kingdom.”
Diane begins to explain what occurred in the vampire kingdom, not leaving even the smallest detail out. She pauses for a second, making me wonder if something happened she thinks I can’t handle.
“What is it?” I asked impatiently as Demon growls in my head, causing my headache to worsen. It’s not bad enough I cant get the comfort from my mate, I also have to deal with a moody wolf.
“I am not sure if it is anything really, but after the unsuccessful Queen training session, Sky began to turn pale, vomiting uncontrollably and that is when the King came in and took her to the pole. Proceeding to punish her with the whip until I released her counterparts.” Diane said quietly.
“Did you see the trainer give Sky anything?” Ty asked as he got closer to Diane. My fist were turning white as I tried to keep my composure under key and my teeth were grinning together with the anger vibrating through me. If that trainer isn’t dead yet, he will be in no time.
“No I didn’t. Sky was giving him crap so I kept my head down as not to show the smile plastering my face.” Diane said sadly, as she looked down in shame. Dean rubbed her back, trying to bring his mate some sort of comfort. I understood that and respected him for it. I was also jealous though, knowing that no matter what I did I couldn’t bring comfort to Sky right now.
‘I want mate, let’s just go back to mate. Please Di.’ Demon whined as I felt his sadness over wash my emotions, I felt hot and cold right now. The smallest thing could make Demon jump from anger to a depressed state in no time.
“So…. It’s possible?” Ariel asked as she took in everyone’s expressions.
“I guess so, but I wouldn’t know what he had given her. Though he didn’t like her.” Diane said slowly with a nod.
“Dean, I want you to go replace this trainer.” I said with certainty.
Before I could continue Diane cut me off. “No, that isn’t possible. The king killed him before he punished Queen Sky.”
I growled before I could hold Demon back. He didn’t like hearing about our mate being hurt. No matter if it happened in front of us or not. I understand it because I don’t either but I know how important all this information will be to figure out what is happening with our mate. Calm down Demon, I thought to him. He didn’t respond but he receded to the back of my mind with a grumble.
“Are you good Alpha?” Mark asked slowly, now realizing I was close to shifting as my nails dug into my desk and teeth cut into my lips. Dean had Diane hidden behind him and Ariel was looking at me with pity.
“I am fine,” I said gruffly as I tried to clear my throat as I calmed down. “What are your ideas for helping Sky?”
“Let’s start her on the antidotes for all witch and werewolf poisons.” Dean suggested as Ty and Mark nodded along. That isn’t a bad idea. It would rule out poisoning and prevent her death if it is. We would already be three days behind which worries Demon and myself.
‘Ron?’ I asked through the mind link to the pack doctor. Even if they have the link closed my Alpha call will go through.
‘Yes my Alpha. How may I help you?’ Ron responded through the link, sounding as if he was running some where. Maybe he is working out?
‘I need you in my room to start an intravenous therapy and administer the cure for all werewolf and witch poisons.’ I told him through the link. I keep the medical wing pretty stocked so I am hoping we have everything we may need for this.
‘Of course Alpha, I am already on my way.’ Ron responded before cutting off the link. Good.
“Ron is on his way. Is everyone in agreement with this?” I asked my group as they all rocked their heads in agreement. Ariel looked worried, though she still agreed with everyone.
“What if it is not poison?” Ariel asked in concern. I didn’t think that far ahead. All I know is I want my mate back and I don’t care what I have to do to bring her back to me.
“It shouldn’t hurt her, even if she is not poisoned. This will just narrow down what is going on with her and rule out some deadly options.” Diane said with a slight smile on her face, though it didn’t reach her eyes and she seemed just as exhausted as Ty. How close did my mate get to this witch and was she really not involved with the kidnapping? Why does she seem in less of a troubled state than my mate?
‘We need to keep an eye on her.’ Demon commented and I couldn’t agree more. I won’t keep any traitors in my Kingdom no matter how much Sky seems to trust her. Until Sky can explain why I will keep my guard up around her.
“Let’s go then.” I said as I stood from my desk and walked towards the door. Everyone followed suit behind me, as we walked in silence to my room. I honestly was so lost in my own thoughts that I couldn’t keep a conversation even if I wanted to at this point.
As we arrived at my door, I took a deep breath. My body relaxed, my mind stopped racing with thoughts, as my shoulders sagged. My mates scent was almost as good as her touch, smile and voice. Almost.
Ready? I asked in thought to Demon. I don’t want him flipping out and trashing the room again when he sees our mate unconscious. I feel him roll his eyes as he breaths in our mate’s scent again.
‘I am calm now. Let’s go see mate. I won’t freak out this time.’ Demon said, I could here the calm in his voice but there was still an edge to his voice.
We can’t endanger our mate Demon so just relax, I thought in warning, trying to calm him down more than he is acting like. I heard him grumble right before laying down in my mind with a sigh. I knew he was calm enough now as long as I didn’t get myself worked up. I took another deep breath as I felt Mark and Dean place a hand on each of my shoulders. If I couldn’t do this alone, I knew I had both of them behind me.
“We got you man,” Dean said with a slight smile, as he squeezed my shoulder in reassurance.
“We are always right beside you, Di.” Mark said and for once I was happy he didn’t calm me Alpha. Right now I needed my best friends not my Beta and Gamma. I nod in appreciation, happy that I have these two as my best friends.
I slowly push the door open, realizing I had my hopes up. I thought I would just walk in, see my mate awake and smiling at me. I knew it was a long shot but I still hoped. Demon whines at the thought and I already feel the struggle to keep him under control while our mate is in this condition. My eyes start flashing between my wolf’s and my own as I close my eyes and try to take deep breaths.
We need to stay in control right now Demon. The pack and our mate need us to be level headed. Please just calm down and let the doctor figure out what is wrong with Sky, I thought to my wolf, trying to calm him down. He slowly recedes into the back of my mind as I feel the doctor enter the room with us. Here goes nothing.
“Doc, I need you to run whatever test you think is necessary and figure out what is wrong with my mate. We also decided it was best if you started the antidotes to any poisons that could potentially harm a wolf or witch.” I stated, or more like demanded as calmly as I could right now. He looked at me and then Sky, making Demon want to growl in protection of our mate but I held it back.
“Anything for our Luna Queen.” Ron replied before getting straight to work. The more he touched her, the more Demon wanted to rip his head off.
