Sky's Rejection
Sky’s Rejection Chapter 72

(Dimitri’s POV)

“I see the pup’s head Luna Queen, are you ready to push?” Doctor Lilian said, as she was crouched down. She had a heated blanket next to her, ready to wrap the pup up as soon as she or he was fully out.

“I am.” Sky said, as she gripped Ty and my hand in each of hers. I slowly brushed my hand through her hair, allowing her to relax fully. I still took about half her pain, trying to make it easier for her.

“Alright my love. Push our pup into this world. I am right here for you.” I whispered into her ear. I watched as she smiled up at me before an intense wave of pain jolted through me, or should I say us to be precise. Sky squeezed our hands, as her head lurched towards her knees and her body tensed up. She pushed with a slight grunt every time.

“There we go Luna Queen. The pup’s head is out. Let’s give one more big push to get the pup’s shoulders through. Are you ready?” Doctor Lilian said, excitement lacing her words. I looked down, seeing our beautiful pup’s head drenched in b***d and clear liquid. Well, that wasn’t a pretty sight.

Sky nodded, determination surrounding her features. The intense pain that started to fade away, suddenly jolted through me again. Sky growled as she pushed until her face was red. I felt as if we had been going at this for hours, though I am sure it hadn’t been more than ten minutes.

“Very good Luna Queen. Stop pushing now.” Doctor Lilian said, as I watched Sky slam herself back into the bed. She was panting heavily as sweat dripped down her forehead. Ty grabbed the cool wet cloth beside him, as he began to pat her face clean.

Then I heard it, Sky shot up into a sitting position startling Ty, as I stared at the doctor in amazement.

The first cry of our pup.

By now Doctor Lilian had a huge smile on her face, the pup completely cleaned off and wrapped up in a heated blanket. Our bundle of joy cooed as he or she looked around the room. What a curious little thing.

“It’s a girl.” Doctor Lilian announced as she handed the pup to me. I squatted down, leveling myself with my mate. “Luna Queen will need to push the placenta out, so she will need a minute before holding the little princess.”

“She’s perfect. Look at her Di.” Sky said in a whisper. I wanted to hand her to her mother so they could bond but I knew Doctor Lilian was right.

“She looks just like you. The perfect princess anyone could ask for.” Ty said as he stared adoringly at our little girl. He will be a wonderful grandfather and hopefully help me keep all the boys away from her. I can only imagine how much trouble she will replace herself in, if she is anything like her parents.

“Wait…” Doctor Lilian stated, her mood shifted between joyful to a worried atmosphere it seemed. “Luna Queen’s poison levels seemed to have evaporated. The poison is gone. We will need to make sure the pup didn’t take any of it. I don’t understand. I also do not see the placenta, this is impossible.” She seemed to be rambling to herself by now, but her words didn’t calm my nerves at all.

A slamming noise against the door stopped Lilian from continuing. The hinges shook from the impact. What could possibly be going on out there? I looked at Sky, seeing her worried face as she breathed heavily in pain. The contractions weren’t letting up. I glanced over at Ty seeing him ready to kill or be killed to protect Sky and our little princess.

“Doctor Lilian, figure out what is going on with my mate. The Queen is your full focus right now, no matter what happens around you. Ty, take the princess.” I demanded. I kissed our pup before handing her off to Ty.

‘Take her immediately in the bathroom, under the bath tub I secured a soundproof bunker. Place her down there and then come help me. I am not sure how they got this close, but we can’t allow them to get closer.’ I mind linked Ty. Without a response he ran to the bathroom. I heard him whispering sweet calming words to the pup before he reappeared by my side. Sky was panting uncontrollably at this point, and I was certain something must have gone terribly wrong from our princess’s birth.

‘Sky, love, I need you to be brave. Doctor Lilian is going to help you, I promise. The pup is safe. Ty and I will not let anything reach you or our pup.’ I mind linked her in a calming voice. I needed her to think I was calm so she would reach the same mind set. She nodded slowly as she began to calm her breathing.

‘ALPHA’ My warrior ringed through the mind link. His screech echoed in my head. s**t, he was the head of my elite. I opened my mind to Ty, needing him to hear what was happening instead of me relaying everything to him. He looked at me in confusion before he heard more incoming mind links.

‘KING’ Another warrior screamed into the mind link. I heard grunting before he blocked me out too. He was a guard I placed at the hospital. s**t, they are close.

‘Son, the doctor was in on it…… F**k.’ Father’s mind link cut off making me fear how many of my men have been hurt.

‘I am coming down the hall now with Diane, they broke through the barrier. We need help.’ Dean exclaimed between breaths through our link. I had to be out there with my men. Ty looked at me, knowing exactly what I was thinking. He didn’t seem like he was thinking in the same mind set as he glanced back at Sky. The sweat had collected over her face, dripping down her gown. She didn’t need to see what was going on right now, but I knew if we left, she would already be worried. What should I do?

‘Mother, Is father and my men alright?’ I asked through the link, trying to get an idea of the situation out there. I needed to know how bad everything was.

‘Forty – five rogues of all different species appeared out of nowhere right outside the hospital. Two warriors were injured until the elite and your father stepped in. They are holding them back, but the witches are now chanting. I made Ariel leave to collect all the children and elderly. They need to get to a safe room. Dean just showed up with Diane.’ Mother informed me through the link. I need to be with them, if they get any closer to our room Sky will be stressed out with the situation or worse…. Die.

‘All elderly and children are secure in the safe room; we will wait for your orders Alpha King.’ Ariel mind linked me. All but one. Our pup is here with us.

‘They are proceeding down the hallway, backing us into a corner. We are only a few feet from your room Dimitri.’ Dean linked, his exhaustion leaking through the link.

Ty whipped his head towards me. The fear evident on his face as his complexion seemed to become paler than normal. ‘If all those men can’t hold off forty – five rogues, how are you and I suppose to stop all of them from getting to Sky and the princess?’

Ty was right. I have over a hundred men out there fighting them off and still they made it to us. None of my men have died yet though. That’s a positive, right? Though it could just be pure luck as well or they could be toying with us. No. I stared at Ty and as if he read my thoughts he jumped into action.

“Lilian, I know you are busy right now, but I need you to set up a protection barrier in this room.” Ty said in a panic. I watched as Lilian eyes lit up in fear and Sky jolted in a sitting position. She held her stomach as her complexation dropped to a deathly pale color.

“What is happening? Ty? Dimitri? TELL ME NOW.” Sky demanded, her pain seemed to be intensifying and I couldn’t understand what was happening to her right now. Goddess, please let my mate be alright.

“We are under attack. They broke the barrier and forty – five rogues have invaded the hospital.” Ty said. He was looking at her as if this was his fault, but I knew better than that. He was just upset that he had to tell her about this during a time like this.

“Alright. How dare you ask Lilian to place a protection spell on this room only. Our people are out there. I will not hide behind a shield while our men and women die.” Sky gritted out between the pains. I could see how uncomfortable she was sitting up, but we seemed to hit a nerve.

“Love…” I began before she cut me off.

“No Dimitri. Is our pup safe?” Sky asked as I nodded my head to answer her. I didn’t want to speak again just for her to cut me off. She wasn’t in the mood.

“Calling one, calling all.

Nature here, nature far.

Lavish none, banish all.

Don’t prolong, who don’t belong.”

Sky laid back as she chanted, over and over again. Her hands raised towards the ceiling with her eyes scrunched up in pain. Her body glowed, dimmer than normal. I don’t think she should be doing something this powerful in the situation she is experiencing right now.

‘They are gone.’ Mother sighed in the mind linked with relief.

‘Son, what did you do? They all vanished.’ Father said in happiness and skepticism. He probably thought it was their own ploy of attack.

‘Dean? Diane? Place the protection barrier over the pack again. We don’t need this to reoccur tonight. Double it this time. Sky can help strengthen it later but not right now. She just used to much energy to keep them away, I need her to heal and rest.’ I mind linked my beta couple hoping they get it done before anyone comes back on our lands.

‘None killed. Ten injured. Nothing severe. Also, you should know that the doctor disappeared as well. I am not sure why.’ My head warrior of my elite team mind linked me.

‘Keep an eye out for him and get the injured some help. Have my mother join you.’ I mind linked in response before I got a ‘yes, sir’ in response. Now that I knew everyone was safe, I would be able to focus back onto my mate and our princess. That reminds me….

‘Ariel? Everything is safe now. Help the children and elderly back home. Thank you for being an amazing Gamma female.’ I mind linked Ariel before turning my focus back to where it was still needed. Sky was panting, as her eyes closed every so often before she would snap them back open. She was fighting the pain, fighting exhaustion and seemed to still be uncomfortable.

“Did we remove the placenta yet? At least locate it?” Ty asked, looking deeply at the doctor. She shook her head no, as Ty grunted in annoyance. This has been one hell of an evening. I don’t think we could do with any more surprises.

“Alpha, you should see this.” Doctor Lilian spoke in a shaky voice. When I looked at her, my heart raced, as fear crept up my spine. Why did the doctor look confused and petrified at the same time?

What was wrong with my mate?
