Sweet Twins Indulge in Daddy's Love
Chapter 191 Guess The Ridd e

In the city, who would ever dare to offend Charles?

"It's all because of you women. I replace women are just trouble and can't do anything right!" Jay reiterated.

By that time, the policeman and Jay had reached the room where Charles was locked up. Jay ended the call after telling Doris off.

"Hey, what's the matter? What did you mean by that?" Doris couldn't fathom what was going on and thought to herself, 'Charles already has Nancy. Why would he be involved with another woman and get into trouble?'

Did this mean he had a mistress on the side?

'Wow, rich men really can't stay faithful and will go out to play, no matter what!'

She pondered whether or not to tell Nancy. After a while, she decided to let her know. As they were best friends, her loyalty was with Nancy anyway.

Nancy was still awake at that time. Like Doris, she couldn't sleep either.

Listening to the patter of rain outside, she felt ill at ease.

When her phone beeped, she didn't expect it to be Doris. After all, it was already so late.

Therefore, when she saw the screen flickering, she thought it was just a message.

However, she saw that it was not a message but a call from Doris.

Before picking up, she thought with a bitter smile, 'This pregnant woman, why don't you have a good rest at this late hour? It's not good for the baby!' "It's already so late. Why..."

Before she could even finish her words, she was suddenly interrupted by Doris, "Nancy, Charles isn't at home now, is he?"

"How did you know he's not home?"

"Well, he's in..." Doris faltered, feeling embarrassed.

"Tell me, where is he? Just say it. You can't leave me hanging. You either finish your words or just drop it. Or do you want me to play guess the riddle?" Nancy said, obviously agitated. She only asked Charles to go out fix the issue in the hospital. The night was almost over, but he had not yet returned by then.

Now she couldn't even get through to his phone, which made her paranoid the whole night, thinking of nonsense things.

"Uh, he is at the police station. He is detained because he seems to have committed a crime," Doris finally said with difficulty. Nancy was stunned when she heard that. Charles was detained? How did that happen?

Was there something wrong with the medicine that he bought?

Did the patient have an adverse reaction after taking it?

She was so petrified just thinking about the possibilities that her brain was about to explode. "Tell me exactly what happened, Doris."

"I don't know. I'm not sure either. I only heard that he was with a woman. Oh, I really don't know. Anyway, I just wanted to tell you that in case Charles doesn't go back tonight, you don't have to worry about him. He has found a place to stay in, ha ha..."

This heartless woman never forgot to make fun of her at every opportunity that she could replace.

Nancy's mind was in a total mess. She couldn't imagine what could have happened and didn't understand what Doris meant at all. She quickly ended the call and dialed Jay's number instead.

But by then, Jay had turned off his phone because he was irritated by the way Doris had behaved earlier.

Thus, Nancy's call couldn't get through.

Jay knocked on the door of the room where Charles was held. Charles was taking a nap that time. When Jay entered, he opened his eyes which were slightly red.

"Charles, didn't you have anything better to do than stay here for the night?" Jay said jokingly to lighten up the mood, seeing how embarrassed Charles was.

"I'm sorry to bother you at this time. I'm a busy man. However, I didn't expect that I would be blackmailed by this woman. You'd better replace a witness to prove my innocence. By now, the Internet must be full of public opinions about me. Well, judging people and killing them invisibly is very hateful!" Charles didn't have his phone with him because the police took it. But based on experience, the news about him on the Internet must have been blown out of proportions by now.

Jay looked at the woman on the next room and pointed towards her with his chin. "Is that her?"

"Yeah, that's the one." Charles nodded slowly.

The woman was sitting on the chair, looking tired as if she was about to fall asleep.

Jay decided to walk over and knocked on the glass wall. "Hello."

The woman vaguely heard his voice. She raised her head and looked at Jay in horror when she saw him.

"Do you go around blackmailing people?" asked Jay in a contemptuous tone.

The woman looked at him and even had the audacity to grin.

"This is not your first time, is it?" probed Jay further.

The woman began to count her fingers as if she was thinking and then stretched out eight.

"Eight times. I am quite experienced on this." Jay swept his wet hair away from his face and confidently said, "This time, you will fail. I am telling you, you won't even get a penny!" Upon hearing this, the woman lowered her head dejectedly.

Jay walked back to Charles. "I'll contact Hiram first. Don't worry, I'll replace a witness to testify for you and get you out of here as soon as possible."

"The top priority now is to get the evidence and make a statement that I am innocent. My reputation can't be ruined by this," Charles said angrily between his teeth.

Had he known beforehand that such a disgusting thing would happen, he would have brought Nancy with him when he went out.

But it was now useless to think of what could have been. It had already happened and it was hard to argue with this woman. "Okay, I'll go check it now!" Jay said and then prepared to walk out.

"Hey, Jay. Do you think I should call Nancy to let her know?" Charles asked.

He was afraid that Nancy would wait for him and not sleep.

Jay smiled. "Maybe she has already gone to bed. But if you are worried about her, why don't you call her yourself?"

Then he took out his phone to give to Charles.

Charles was torn whether to call or not. He thought for a while and finally waved his hand, "Forget it. I won't call her. I can't explain what happened over the phone clearly. I'll explain it to her slowly tomorrow." "Well, in that case, I'll take my leave now," Jay said before he walked out.

Back at home, Nancy couldn't fall asleep. She was browsing through her cell phone and looked through the headlines of all the news.

Sure enough, the news was all about Charles being caught cheating with a woman.

The headline was so eye-catching that it was the first thing you would see.

Nancy felt an inexplicable pain in her heart and wanted to cry.

She had thought that Charles was different from other men. She believed that he would stay faithful to her and wouldn't fall in love with other women.

It turned out that she was wrong. Charles was no different than other men. He was a jerk who couldn't stay away from other women and couldn't remain loyal to her!

She was so exasperated that she turned off her phone and forced herself to lie on the bed to sleep.

Unfortunately, sleep wouldn't come to her. She even started counting sheep, but to no avail. She couldn't sleep at all.

In her mind, the scene of her father abusing her mother and Jill's arrogant look kept surfacing, coupled with Fannie's contempt and framing.

Nancy hugged herself tightly, feeling utterly alone and cold all over her body.

When she met Charles, she had thought that she had met someone she could rely on. After all the hardships they had been through, they finally decided to live together.

She didn't care much about the benefits she could gain from his status. The most important thing was that the children could both stay together by her side. To see them happy and healthy as they grew up was all she could ask for.

But fate wasn't in her favor. She had to face these unbearable hurdles one after another, without giving her any breathing space.

'Go to sleep, Nancy.

Sleep to clear your mind. When you wake up, you can decide then what to do.'

She would never resort to begging Charles to stay if he wanted to leave.

But if he opted to stay, she would not let him touch her again.

She thought he must be dirty because of other women!

Her nightmares haunted her for the rest of the night.

In her dream, she saw Charles, Jill, Fannie and Caspar all laughing wildly in the rain.

She wanted to cry, but she couldn't. The pain she felt was truly unbearable.

Waiting for the morning to arrive wasn't easy. Time dragged and Nancy felt as if she had died. She felt totally lethargic.
