Sweet Twins Indulge in Daddy's Love -
Chapter 294 Miserable
Doris gasped. She knew that Nancy loved medical science. She would even devote her whole life's energy to medical science.
She had only been employed for a short time. How could she be tired of it already?
She must have had a bad day at work.
"So, you're going to be a full-time housewife now? I think it's good that you decided to marry Charles. A lot of people want to be a part of the Fu Family. You should marry him as soon as possible. After you get married, you wouldn't need to work anymore. You'll also have time for your kids," Doris said, as she smiled softly.
She knew that Nancy devoted much of her time to her work.
If she agreed to it so easily, then she must've felt unhappy.
What could have made her unhappy?
Nancy turned around and hugged Doris.
"I don't want to get married yet. I just want to give my children a good life!"
Doris knew that although Nancy was soft, she could be a bit stubborn sometimes. She wasn't the kind of woman who depended on a man.
"Then what is it, Nancy? Tell me!" Doris gently shook Nancy.
"I'm just so tired of all the rumors and plots in the hospital! I'm so sick of it!" Nancy sobbed.
"Well, that's easy. Just resign!" Doris then hugged Nancy.
"But I don't want to rely on Charles. I'll end up feeling useless and uncomfortable!" Nancy mumbled.
"I told you to resign, but you don't want to resign. I told you to get married, but you refused to get married. What are you going to do?" Doris furrowed her brows in confusion.
"I don't know what I want!" Nancy had never been so indecisive in her life.
"I think you should get some sleep. Maybe tomorrow you'll come up with a solution to your problem!" Doris gave her a pat on the back.
"Yes, I should go to sleep. Hopefully the solution will come to me in the morning!" Nancy sighed, as she drifted to sleep.
She needed some time to relax.
Perhaps after her nap, she'd come up with a solution to her problem.
After all, she might have been too tired to function properly. She then slowly let go of Doris as she fell asleep.
Once the sun had come up. Doris awoke and found Nancy still asleep.
She then sat up and fixed her pajamas in front of her mirror. When she was done, she walked out of the room.
As she got out. She noticed Jay sitting on the sofa. He seemed to have stayed there the whole night. He looked at her as she got out of the room. "Honey, how is it going?" he said.
"Not much. Nancy just told me how tired she was of the rumors and deception at her workplace!" Doris groaned, as she expressed her concern for Nancy.
"And then?" He squinted his eyes. The answer she gave was not satisfactory.
"If you don't like the answer I gave you, then you can go and ask her yourself!" Doris huffed.
"How do you expect me to know when even you don't know? I'll tell Charles!" Jay then took out his phone.
Charles had stayed up all night.
"Daddy, where is mommy?" the two kids chimed. They had been pestering their dad all night when Nancy hadn't come home.
"Your mommy has an important operation tonight. She might come home very late!"
"But why is she always so busy?" Nadia frowned.
"She isn't the only doctor in the hospital. So why does she always have to be there? Daddy, can't you let the other doctors take mommy's shift in the hospital?" Bobby whined.
"Sure, I'll have the other doctors take mommy's shift!" Their sad teary eyes made Charles worry. He was afraid that he might disappoint them.
It was no easy task taking care of two kids for a whole day; putting them to bed was the hardest part. It didn't help that at the end of a long and tiring day, he would lay alone in a big empty bed. He barely got any sleep.
As tired as Nancy was, so was Charles. But the ones who missed her the most were her children.
When Charles heard his phone ring, he assumed that the call was from Jay. "Hello, what did Nancy say?"
"Nancy said that she was tired of all the rumors circulating in the hospital," Jay said casually.
"That's it? She didn't tell you anything else?" Charles scratched his head.
All this time, he thought that Nancy simply overworked. He never knew that she was unhappy with her work environment.
What could have happened in the hospital?
Did Jessie have anything to do with this?
"Charles, do you want me to investigate this for you? Or do you want to figure it out for yourself? We can't simply guess what happened! Although, one thing is certain: someone tried to hurt Nancy. It must have been one of her coworkers in the hospital. You know her well enough. She wouldn't be that disheartened unless someone discouraged her," Jay concluded.
"You don't need to investigate it for me! I can just call someone from the hospital and ask them about Nancy." Charles thanked Jay for the offer. He then ended the call and phoned Hiram, asking him to investigate.
After Nancy was done eating breakfast, she got her keys and headed to her car.
"Are you going to work?" Doris gave her a worried glance
As a matter of fact, Nancy was still unsure of what she wanted to do. It felt wrong to stay at Jay's house while Doris was pregnant and mentally unstable. She knew that if she stayed there, she might put Doris in a bad mood.
"I haven't resigned yet. So I still have to go to work!" Nancy picked up her bag and walked out.
"Wait! Nancy, let Jay drive you to the hospital!" Doris said, as she ran after her.
"He doesn't need to drive me there. After all, I'm not pregnant!" Nancy chuckled.
"Humph! You're teasing me again, aren't you?" Doris muttered, as she crossed her arms.
"Why would I make fun of you? You're pregnant. Don't think about it too much! I need to leave now, so you should head back inside." Nancy then got in her car and drove away.
"I don't know why you're so worried. As long as I'm here, you don't need to stress about it." Jay massaged Doris 's shoulders to relieve her tension.
"Go away! You men are so unreliable. Why can't you be more like us? Humph!" Doris hissed, as she pushed him away.
"Nonsense! Not every man is like that! Alas!" Jay sighed, as he placed his hand on Doris' belly. "Honey, you should come out quickly. When you get out of mommy 's belly, mommy will stop abusing daddy!" "Who are you cursing, Jay? Me or the baby? The baby needs more time to develop inside my belly. Don't you know that pregnancy lasts for nine months?"
"Yes, I know. I have to leave now to go to work. Laura, take good care of Doris for me while I'm away. If anything happens to her, it will be your fault!" He then rushed to the car.
"Mrs. Fang, please be careful. I don't want you to fall." Laura tightened her grip on Doris's hand.
"Are you afraid of Jay?" Doris said, as she looked back at the fleeting figure of Jay's car.
"Yes, he is the master of the house, and I am merely a servant. Isn't it right for me to be afraid of him?" Laura spoke softly.
"Why did you call him 'master'? He was just joking a while ago. Didn't you hear it?" Doris scolded.
"Yes, I can tell! But even if he was joking, I still have to give him respect. So please, let's go back to our room,
Mrs. Fang. The autumn wind is very cold. I don't want you to catch the flu!" Laura advised, as she led Doris to her room.
