Sweet Twins Indulge in Daddy's Love
Chapter 297 Crossed Lines

"Anna's life?" Charles asked surprised. "Oh, so the reason why she wanted to commit suicide is being fired?" he asked again, crossing his hands. He could almost pity her if he didn't know firsthand what she'd done. It was well-known that David spoiled his daughter very much. Charles was sure it was another attempt of Anna to get away without a punishment. As a matter of fact, Charles could figure out that Anna was just threatening him with her life.

However, it was impossible to make David see what was right in front of his eyes.

Charles knew all about a father's love and feelings. He knew that he would do anything to protect his children. It was understandable that David loved his daughter so much. But it was unreasonable that David couldn't tell right from wrong. It was a crime to support something so morally wrong. 'What a mess,' he thought.

Charles was starting to feel the beginning of a headache. However, David was nothing but relentless. He put on a flattering smile and said, "Yes, Mr. Fu. If President Hobart hadn't pushed her too hard, how could Anna want to commit suicide?"

Charles still had a cold face. A muscle twitched in his cheek. He picked up the cup on the desk and took a sip of coffee.

He was not a fool. He knew the game Anna was playing. But, there was always a risk that she might do something impulsive and act on her threat.

He needed to tread water carefully. But one thing was certain. He could not let it go unpunished this time.

Jessie was an example of how things could go wrong. This time he would have to act wisely.

Charles didn't want to make any more trouble. He only wanted to make sure that Anna was out of Nancy's life.

However, he was not entirely sure on how to best proceed with this case. He was used to firing people for their incompetence. Hardly any of them wanted to commit suicide forthat. He was presented with a brand new and an absurd problem.

Charles was watching David with a penetrating stare. David knew he was calculating something in his mind.

So he said carefully, "Mr. Fu, you are the boss of that hospital now. You can't stand by and do nothing about it. You must teach President Hobart a lesson, or he might do something evil!"

Charles smirked and said, "You mean you want me to fire President Hobart?"

Hearing this, David laughed immediately. "If that's the case, that's great!" Charles was beginning to enjoy this cat and mouse game.

"And then?" he asked cheerfully. Charles was really curious to know the answer of this question. He raised an eyebrow.

"Mr. Fu, are you worried that no one will be the president of the hospital after Hobart leaves?" David asked, his eyes polar.

'Interesting,' Charles thought. He fixed David with merely an inquiring gaze and asked, "Well... Shouldn't I worry, Mr. Wang? President Hobart has been working in the hospital for so many years, and he has done a good job, hasn't he?" He could see David was becoming impatient now. Good!

"Yes, that's true. But it doesn't mean that he is a good man!" David threw his next card and said in a hurry, "If you trust me, please give me one day. I promise I can replace a person to replace President Hobart!" Charles chuckled, "Mr. Wang, don't you want to know who fired your daughter?"

David's eyes instantly became cautious.

'Isn't it President Hobart?' he thought.

David started sweating. He was sure that Anna had told him about President Hobart being the one who had fired her!

But now, looking at the mocking smile on Charles's face, David felt that this matter was not as simple as he knew. There was something more. Something he did not know about.

He did his best to relax, racking his brain as he tried to think if he had missed something. Taking a deep breath he forced himself not to panic and said in a trembling voice, "I don't understand ..." Charles sighed slightly, "Alas, Mr. Wang, you are a smart man. How could you not understand it?"

David's face turned pale in an instant. Blood beat at his temples, his throat so constricted he could barely swallow. He was indeed very smart. He knew the answer by the taunting words and expression of Charles!

But he needed to keep trying. So he asked hesitantly, "Mr. Fu, do you have a problem with Anna?"

Charles turned on the phone and found the video. "Watch it yourself! Perhaps you can enlighten me as to its contents?"

David took the phone with a shaking hand. When he saw the two people in the video, he blinked. It took a full minute to fully comprehend what he was watching. Air whooshed out of his lungs as if he'd been hurled to the ground.

"Mr. Fu, Anna is my only daughter. Since she is still young, please let her go." Charles sensed that David was desperate to save Anna at any cost.

He was a father himself. He did not approve the way David was raising his daughter. But he still felt sympathy for him. He needed to make him understand why he did what he did. He looked at him and said, "I didn't mind what Anna did last time, so I let her go. But I didn't expect that Anna would continue to frame Nancy. Last time, she used Boyd in her nasty plots. Fortunately, Boyd's life was not in danger and he lef the hospital alive. I know you found someone to protect Anna. The reason why I didn't get involved last time was Nancy who said she would deal with it by herself. If Anna could stop, things would be much easier for all of us. I didn't expect that she would become even worse. This time, she even used Jessie to frame Nancy. Well, David, how could you have such a vicious daughter?" If Anna hadn't framed Nancy, Charles would have let her go with a suspension. But now he needed to make sure Nancy would never be in trouble again. Nothing was more important to him than Nancy's safety.

This time, Charles was indeed irritated by Anna. She had crossed the lines.

David felt he was losing ground. Charles was not in a mood to negotiate with him.

He decided not to say something that would anger Charles more.

"Mr. Fu, I'm sorry!" David was not stupid. He knew that he was partly responsible for his daughter's errant ways and vicious plots.

It was better to slip away as soon as possible. He was beginning to worry that Charles might decide to punish him too.

Charles lit a cigarette and flicked the ash slowly. "David, don't leave in a hurry. I haven't finished yet!"

David gulped and said, "Mr. Fu, I'm listening!"

"Mistakes can be forgiven, but one must pay the price for a crime! Don't you think so, David?" Charles picked up his phone and said, "Viola, come to my office." Within a minute Viola hurried in. "Sir," she addressed Charles.

"Have you prepared the documents I asked you to prepare yesterday?" Charles looked up from his desk and asked with a voice that sliced like steel.

"Yes, of course. The papers are ready," Viola replied respectfully.

"Then, what are we waiting for? Show it to Mr. Wang. If he has no objection, let him sign his name!" With barely a glance, Charles gestured her to proceed.

Viola needed no further direction. "Okay." Viola handed the document to David swiftly.

An electric tingle ran down the spine of David. "What's this?" he asked as he took the file. Knowing he had no choice, he opened the file. When he saw what was written in the documents, he felt the blood drain out of his body.

"Mr. Fu, Mr. Fu, are you going to buy my shares of the hospital?" David asked, dazed, his thoughts reeling.

Charles raised a brow. "How unexpectedly forthright of you! Well, it's five percent higher than the market price. Very good!"

"Mr. Fu, what if I don't want?" David asked, his voice low and tremulous. David knew under the leadership of Charles, the hospital's revenue was good and the stock price went up all the way. He was really reluctant to sell it. But at this point he was not sure if he had a say in the matter.

Charles stood and walked around his desk. "Do you need me to announce what you have done for Anna? If I really expose it to the public, aren't you afraid that your group's stock price will plummet?" he asked, leaning a hip against his desk. Charles knew he had upper-hand in this deal. David was desperate enough to agree.

"Mr. Fu, is there no room for negotiation on this matter?" David swallowed convulsively and then cleared his throat.

Charles replied without hesitation, "No."

David gritted his teeth and agreed, "Okay, I'll sign it. But, Mr. Fu, I hope you won't expose it to the public. Anna is still young. I don't want her to lose her future!"

"As long as you sign your name, I promise you that it will end here!" Charles went back to his desk.

He just wanted Anna to leave, hoping that the hospital would have nothing to do with the Wang family anymore after this deal!

And most importantly, he hoped Nancy could work in the hospital more comfortably.

"Okay!" nodded David He had no choice but to sign his name on the agreement. When he was finished signing, Viola handed the contract to Charles.
