Talented Martial Hero -
Chapter 1063 The Bad News
Upon returning to the surface of the River of Forgetfulness, Darren flew alongside the river.
There was a powerful force ahead of him that shook the river. He could see how the river was on theverge of collapsing from the attacks on its restrictions.
Darren flew over and saw the dark aura around Barnes. The monkey had pushed his strength to thelimit.
Ahead, Barnes was struggling to get through the fourth layer of restriction.
Soon, he fell to the ground with his stick in hand. It was evident that he was getting frustrated."Alright. I give up," he said.
"What's wrong?" Darren was smiling when he asked.
"This restriction is too powerful. I can’t seem to break it no matter what I do.”
The River of Forgetfulness had eighteen layers of restriction. Darren had discovered that theimmortal was beyond the twelfth layer, which meant she was even more powerful than Barnes. Afterall, he couldn't even get pass the fourth layer.
Now, Darren's strength had grown considerably the past years. But even if he used all his strength,he could break through the fourth layer at most.
Knowing this, he spread his spiritual sense to search for any signs of the ancient senior holywarriors.
"Why are there a hundred thousand senior holy warriors from the ancient times preserved here?"Darren muttered.
"What senior holy warriors? Those aren't just senior holy warriors. You can see how they have beensealed so securely,” Barnes pointed out.
Darren unleashed his spiritual sense again. It was then that he detected something unusual.
The stone-like figures at the bottom of the river had some strange rule powers suppressing them."Are they all half-step emperors?" Darren was surprised by this revelation.
"In the ancient times, most were tribulation holy warriors. They shouldn't be at the level of half-stepemperors,” Barnes explained, yawning.
"So what kind of realm do you think they are in?" Darren asked.
"They're at least at the peak of a six-tribulation senior holy warrior. Some may even be seven-tribulation senior holy warriors.” Barnes then soared up in the air. His deep, dark eyes swept far andwide.
Darren frowned and remained silent.
"They sound dangerous enough to become a threat to humanity if ever they get out of the River ofForgetfulness. In fact, they may be as dangerous as the first fiend ancestor.” At this, the Water Kylinstarted to get anxious.
There were a hundred thousand of them. If all of them were six-tribulation senior holy warriors, theircombined powers would be enough to destroy the whole world. To make it worse, some might evenbe seven-tribulation senior holy warriors.
As they couldn't get through the fourth layer of restriction, Darren and his companions began toconcentrate on their cultivations there.
However, Darren could not calm down because he could not help but imagine what the Godly Citythat the witcher ancestor mentioned was like.
"Darren, you must leave the River of Forgetfulness at once.”
The witcher ancestor's voice suddenly came to Darren's mind one day.
"Why?" Darren could sense something was wrong upon hearing the witcher ancestor's tone.
"A crisis is coming. The immortal has left here.”
“Immortal? What turmoil will she cause?"
Darren didn't understand what the witcher ancestor was talking about. The immortal had long beenout of his small world. She could have caused trouble anytime she wanted. And yet, the witcherancestor was claiming that a turmoil was coming now.
"There is something you don't understand. No outsider wants to be in this world. All of them longto go back to the Primitive Wilderness. There's only one way to return and that is to get the WorldEssence. They can only acquire this by destroying this world," the witcher ancestor explained.
"The World Essence?"
"Each mortal world has its own World Essence. It's the only way to get to the Primitive Wilderness.”"Where do I replace the World Essence?" Darren asked.
"No one knows, actually,” the witcher ancestor answered.
"I think I got it now. You mean to say that the immortal plans to destroy this world to take its WorldEssence.”
"Exactly! I think she's leaving because she finally found out where the World Essence is. Once shelocates it, she'll surely seize it for herself even if it means destroying the entire continent. Once thathappens, she'll be returning to her world," the witcher ancestor said anxiously.
"I won't be able to stop her if she really knows where it is.” Darren began to worry as well, but therewas nothing he could do. The immortal was more powerful than him.
"You can't stop her, but you can still replace the Word Essence and hide it in another place! That's theonly way," the witcher ancestor suggested.
This flustered Darren a bit. If the witcher ancestor's speculation was correct, the immortal wouldmost likely replace the World Essence first before he could.
Sensing Darren's disquiet, the witcher ancestor continued, "She was in a cave at the bottom of theriver before the thirteenth layer. That must be where she found the information on the WorldEssence. I'm sending you there right now. See if you can replace anything.”
"That's great!"
Deep down, however, Darren felt like he still needed to replace some more information about theWorld Essence if he were to track down the immortal.
"You must be quick. If you can save the World Essence in time, then I can send you to the Godly Cityin three years."
"Very well."
Darren nodded his head, and then turned to Barnes. "Barnes, the immortal has finally escaped. Youand the Water Kylin should go out of here too.”
"What?"
Barnes instantly opened his eyes and jumped up.
"Good that she's out. I can stay here to cultivate. No one will disturb me.” Barnes sneered afterthinking for a while.
"Stop that. I heard the news that she has allied herself with the Inner Fiend. Do you think you canjust hide here?" Darren was only making up lies to get Barnes out of there.
"No way!"
This seemed to have caught Barnes’ attention. A dark light flashed in his body.
"Why would she choose to work with the Inner Fiend? She's already too powerful. It's unreasonable.Where did you even get this news? You are clearly lying to me!"
Barnes glared at him accusingly. They were in the River of Forgetfulness after all. How could Darrenknow her whereabouts when he himself couldn't?
It didn't even make sense that she would ally herself with the Inner Fiend.
"Believe it or not, it's my wife who told me this.” Darren had no choice but to push through with hislie.
Barnes was stunned by his friend's determination. It made him hesitate. He had heard of Elsa andhow she was assimilated by that immortal.
He knew Darren wouldn't just mention her if he wasn't telling the truth.
"My wife is inside the immortal's body, so she's a reliable source,” Darren continued to lie.
"Bullshit! I don't believe it! How can the Inner Fiend have such powerful ally?
He has nothing to offer to her,” Barnes roared.
"You're being obtuse. If you're an immortal, are you willing to have an eight-tribulation senior holywarrior as your salve?”
Darren had made it clear that the two had gotten into an arrangement. The Inner Fiend wouldconsider her as his master if she would help him assimilate Barnes. This would turn him into aneight-tribulation senior holy warrior, and she would have a very powerful slave in her hands."Argh!"
Barnes bared his sharp teeth making him look even more ferocious.
"Damn it, damn it!" Finally, he believed Darren.
