Chapter 1098 We're Friends
When Barnes whipped out the stick, cracks appeared on the God Character of the first fiendancestor. How powerful it was!
However, the stick had used up all its strength to beat the God Character. It no longer had anypower left to slay the first fiend ancestor.
More cracks continued to appear on the God Character. The first fiend ancestor's body was writhingand squirming, its evil aura flowing crazily.
Crack! Crack! Crack!
When the first fiend ancestor took one step, his foot crashed through the ground and created avoid.
"Damn it!" Barnes’ sudden attack infuriated him.
Barnes knelt in mid-air, his strength seemingly gone. His dark eyes stared coldly at the first fiendancestor.
"Why do you even help the humans? What benefit does it bring to you?" The first fiend ancestordescended in front of Barnes and looked him in the eye.
"I'm not trying to help anyone! This is for me!"
In the River of Forgetfulness, Darren had told him that both the Inner Fiend and the immortal werehunting for him and wanted to kill him. He immediately returned and hid around the LothlannContinent.
When he was certain that he was safe, he hid himself to cultivate and was able to develop the powerof the Suppressing Stick.
When he heard a loud noise outside, he realized that the first fiend ancestor must have beenmaking trouble. That was what prompted him to go out.
Then, when he saw that Darren was being beaten by the first fiend ancestor and was on the verge ofdeath, he felt a strong compulsion to help Darren. However, although he had developed the powerof the Suppressing Stick, he knew that his strength was still weaker than the first fiend ancestor. Ifhe went into battle without thinking, he would surely die.
After observing for a long time, when the human senior holy warriors rushed into the sky, Barnescouldn't help but rush to Darren's rescue. He couldn't figure out why he had such a strong urge tofight for this human. He could have just continued to hide and deal with the crisis that the immortalbrought to him.
However, he could not fight what he felt.
“Does this mean he is my friend? And my friend is a human being? That's funny, * Barnes hadthought to himself before going to save Darren.
The first fiend ancestor glanced at Barnes coldly. He sent him a telepathic message. "It's a pity thatyou're not in the Primitive Wilderness, or you would have become a ferocious fiend. Now, make achoice. Surrender or die."
The first fiend ancestor wanted to bring Barnes under his control.
"Fuck off!"
Barnes swore, gnashing his teeth.
"Die." The first fiend ancestor was displeased with Barnes’ answer.
His bloody arm stretched out and grabbed Barnes.
Bang!
All of a sudden, a broken, bloodied dragon body rushed over and knocked down the first fiendancestor.
"Thank you, Barnes!" Darren exclaimed, his breathing labored. He looked at Barnes tenderly.
With a smile, Barnes shook his head. "You little brat. You got me in trouble. Now, I'm done for. Withmy current strength, I can't even defeat the body parts of the first fiend ancestor. When the InnerFiend and the immortal come together to kill me, I will only be assimilated by them. I will die sooneror later."
Barnes’ words stung Darren's heart. He had lied to Barnes about the Inner Fiend and the immortalcoming to kill him.
"Barnes, do you consider me your friend?" Darren asked.
"Hiss!" Barnes laughed. "I'm a ruthless warrior. I don't have friends. It's something I simply don't do!""Then why did you help me?"
Barnes fell silent, unsure of what to answer.
"Answer me. Please. This is very important,” Darren implored.
"Ugh! You are so annoying. If you think you are my friend, then you are! You are my friend." Barneswas exasperated.
"I should give you more credit..." Darren murmured quietly.
Bang!
The first fiend ancestor flew back and struck Darren violently with his claw. A wide, gaping holeappeared at the center of Darren's body.
"Don't be so arrogant! If only I had enough power, I would have torn you to pieces!" Barnes roared. The first fiend ancestor ignored Barnes and thrust his palm towards Darren. The blow piercedthrough him yet again.
Coldness enveloped Darren's body. Death came to him as fast as the tide.
"If you kill me, you will never replace the World Essence.” Darren's calm voice entered the mind of thefirst fiend ancestor.
"I don't need that. I can return to the Primitive Wilderness after devastating the mortal world.""What do you mean?" Darren was shocked.
"You're dying. You don't need to know." After he finished speaking, the first fiend ancestor aimed atDarren's heart. He grinned menacingly, preparing to deal the final blow.
Whoosh!
A figure suddenly appeared in front of Darren.
Bang!
Half of the figure's body was crushed upon impact!
"You are my friend! Don't forget that!" Barnes yelled.
"Roar!"
Darren roared in grief witnessing Barnes’ body get torn apart.
Darren had already had to witness two seniors die before his eyes. Now, this ruthless creature whoregarded him as a friend was going to lay his life down for Darren. The pain in Darren's heart wasalmost too great to bear.
Buzz!
In an instant, the force of control spread out and Darren absorbed the remaining half of Barnes'body into the Ancient Void Battlefield.
"Finley, do as I say. Let Barnes assimilate the Inner Fiend. Make sure this happens!"
Finley had been waiting in the Ancient Void Battlefield for a long time. He could hear the noiseoutside, but he could not figure out what was going on because Darren's force of control wasgradually becoming more powerful.
Finley was surprised by Darren's command.
"Y-yes!"
Darren had never ordered Finley around like that before, for he considered the two of them to belike brothers. However, Darren needed to relay the urgency of the situation. It was critical in order tomake sure that Barnes did not die.
As soon Barnes fell into the Ancient Void Battlefield, Finley snatched him up and took him to awasteland.
At the center of the wasteland, the Inner Fiend was lying on the ground. His golden hair framed hisface like a halo and his whole body was covered in runes. Every time the Inner Fiend had recovereda little, Finley would beat him and break his body again. Even if he had an Eternal Body, he wouldn'tbe able to escape Finley's suppression.
"No! No!"
The Inner Fiend could feel the arrival of Barnes. He was still conscious, after all.
"Why are you here? You shouldn't have come here!"
The Inner Fiend was extremely terrified.
“Inner Fiend..."
Barnes groaned. He was astonished to see the Inner Fiend lying on the ground like that.
"Monkey, I don't have time to explain it to you. Now that Darren has ordered me to let you takecare of the Inner Fiend, you know what you should do," Finley said calmly.
"I know. The day has finally come..." Barnes’ voice was full of bitterness. Salty tears appeared in thecorners of his eyes.
"Inner Fiend, it's time for you to come back..." Barnes whispered
"No, my real body! Please let me go. Please, let me go." The Inner Fiend's voice was filled withdesperation and longing. He stared at Barnes pleadingly.
"You shouldn't have existed. How am I supposed to let you go?”
Barnes flew over, exposing his sharp teeth.
Finley stopped Barnes with one hand. He looked at him with a serious expression. "When you regainyour full strength, don't bring trouble to the world.”
"I hope I can do it," Barnes murmured. With that, he pounced on the Inner Fiend.
"Roar! Roar! Roar!"
Roars of pain and resentment echoed throughout the Ancient Void Battlefield.
