Talented Martial Hero -
Chapter 1216 The Terrifying Pressure
Duke wasn’t only talented. He was also born with a Primeval Bloodline. Darren couldn't help butthink he would be a great addition to the team.
As soon as the battle was over, Darren flew towards Duke.
"I'll go straight to the point. If you want to live, you need to become my believer. Are you willing todo that?" Darren asked bluntly.
Duke glared at Darren with venom in his eyes. He let out a furious roar, but didn't say anything else."You better think twice before answering me,” Darren cautioned him.
"Go to hell! I will never surrender to you," Duke growled. He sounded more beast than man.
"Very well then. I shall respect your decision. There will be no torture. I will kill you here and now."Darren had expected that Duke would be a very difficult man to deal with. He was stubborn anddetermined. Now that he had made his decision, even the Soul Assimilating Bugs wouldn't changehis mind.
"Sir, let me have a try," Jefferson said, stepping forward.
"There's no need. It would be useless to torture him now." At first, Darren thought that Jeffersonwas planning to make Duke suffer until he surrendered
"Sir, I'm not going to torture him. I want to try something else.” It was as if Jefferson had read hismind. Then he added, "He's a tough guy, so I'm certain violence is no use on him. But we can use hisinterest on the divine weapon to our advantage.”
Jefferson's words seemed to perk Darren's interest. It reminded him of when Duke first sawJefferson's level-eight divine weapon. There was a gleam of interest in his eyes as he looked at it.
"I see your point." Darren nodded his head. He seemed pleased at Jefferson's suggestion. Then heturned to Duke and said, "Duke, I still have some fragments that can be forged into a level-eightdivine weapon. If you're willing to become my believer, I will create another divine weapon for you. What do you think?"
Darren kept his eyes on Duke the whole time he spoke.
Upon hearing those words, Duke's eyes widened. It was only a fleeting moment before it darkenedagain.
"Did you really think that I would surrender... Just for a divine weapon? That's ridiculous!" Dukeclosed his eyes.
But just as when Darren was about to give up, Duke spoke up once again. "If you get me a level-nine divine weapon, then I will consider it. Otherwise, you can kill me now."
"Huh? Who do you think you are? Do you honestly believe you deserve a level-nine divineweapon?" Jefferson shouted. He had lost his composure then and there.
Although the level-nine divine weapon was only a grade higher than the level-eight, there was ahuge difference between them. For one, the materials of the level-nine divine weapon were so muchmore precious than the eighth's.
Generally speaking, only the warriors at the top level of the Celestial God Realm or the Superior GodRealm could wield it. They were the only ones who had the strength to take advantage of its fullpower.
Darren possessed level-nine sword and blade divine weapons, but his cultivation level was not highenough to unlock their true potential.
Thus, Jefferson felt outraged when Duke wanted a level-nine divine weapon. It was a shameless.demand on Duke's part. A level-nine divine weapon wasn't something that he could simply have."Fine."
To everyone's surprise, Darren agreed to Duke's request. It didn't even take him long to think aboutit
"Seriously? Do you even have a level-nine divine weapon?" Duke opened his red eyes once again.
"I never say yes if I know I couldn't keep my promise,” Darren replied calmly.
"Where would you even get a level-nine divine weapon?" Lindsay looked worriedly at Darren.
"I remember storing some fragments in your space. Those can be used to cast the weapon,” Darrencleared his throat as he answered. It signified that there was an underlying message beneath it. Heknew that Lindsay would understand what he truly meant to say.
"Fuck off!" She glared at him and said, "What do you mean you've been storing them in my space? Those fragments are mine! I have already given you too much. Yet, you are asking for more? I neverknew how greedy you truly are. Fate won't take too kindly on you and you'll suffer theconsequences soon!"
"Your Highness, I believe that someone as beautiful and kind as you would help me again. However, you don't have to worry. I would only like to borrow them for now. Then, I will give you any treasureyou ask of me in the future. What do you think?" Darren smiled at her.
"I refuse.” Lindsay crossed her arms over her chest and turned her face aside.
"Are you sure?"
"Over my dead body!"
"Very well then. We'll forget about it. I'll get my hands on those materials by another way. Since youno longer want to help me, we better part ways. Good bye," Darren said casually.
"You!" Lindsay pointed her finger at Darren and said, "No. I must go with you.”
"Fine. I won't ask you to leave. But mark my words. I will no longer help you in the future.” Darrenthen began stretching his legs luxuriously.
"Are you threatening me? I thought we're friends! But now you dare threaten me. I was wrongabout you, you bastard.” Lindsay began to throw accusations at Darren. The plan was to pretendthat she was so mad at him that they fought, and she would end up not giving away the materialsto him.
"Don't even try starting a fight with me. You either lend me the materials or you're on your own,"Darren threatened. It was as if he had read her mind.
Lindsay bit her lip and thought for a moment. It was as if she was contemplating on killing someoneor not. "Fine! Here are the materials. Consider it as my gift to you."
At last, she gave in. Darren was very important to her after all.
"You truly are my best friend forever, Your Highness. So please don't be mad anymore.” Darren gaveher a smile, ignoring the murderous looks that she kept shooting at him.
"You're such a scumbag. Don't talk to me..."
"Hahaha."
Everyone else found their interaction amusing.
The materials to be used to cast the level-nine divine weapon floated in the air. Duke could sensethat these were high grade indeed. He thought Darren was only bluffing just so he would surrender. He didn't expect that Darren would really have them in the end.
"So? I have the materials. As long as you submit to me, you can get your level-nine divine weaponany time you want."
Duke then turned back into his normal human body. He seemed weaker now compared to before. He fell down to his knees and bowed to Darren.
"I am willing to serve you."
"That's good to hear. Now, make an oath. Use your soul as you swear that you will now follow theConflicting Chief God forever," Darren said.
"The Conflicting Chief God?" It was only then that Duke realized something. "You! You are theDefiant Master!"
"Correct. It seems like you haven't noticed this before. If I am not the Defiant Master, then whywould I be able to take over the other forces and turn them into my believers?”
"I understand now. You really are the Defiant Master!" Duke growled.
"Why? Are you taking back your words?" Darren frowned.
"No. I'm still willing to submit myself to you and become your believer. I swear to it now.” ThenDuke swore on his soul that he would believe in the Conflicting Chief God for the rest of his life andthat he would never betray him for all eternity.
This took Darren by surprise. He wasn't expecting Duke to say yes without hesitation.
"Okay. Get up.” After Duke's oath, Darren used a kind of force to lift him up.
All of a sudden, a bolt of lightning tore through the depths of the void.
In a flash, the whole area was plunged into darkness. The lights had been blocked out.
A pair of cold, dark golden eyes opened amid the darkness as it stared down on the earth.
"Huh!" Darren suddenly found himself trembling all over. His body moved on its own accord, prostrating on the ground.
