Talented Martial Hero -
Chapter 1217 Detected By The Chief God
"What's wrong?"
When people saw Darren's pale face, they panicked. Except for Darren, no one else could sense thatterrifying power, and so, they didn't know what caused this change in him.
However, Duke, who stood behind Darren, trembled violently.
Every fiber of Darren's being wanted to cry out with the utter terror that coursed through him, buthe found himself unable. He was desperate to settle himself, but he could not think straight.Buzz...
The God Character in Darren's head spun automatically at its fastest speed ever.
As the God Character spun, it released a grey mist that instantly enveloped Darren's body.
The terrifying pressure receded at this moment, and Darren collapsed to the ground. Wave afterwave of tranquility washed over him, leaving him feeling incredibly relaxed.
Duke fell to the ground as well. However, he appeared lifeless.
"What happened, sir? Are you okay?" Carlisle and the others rushed to Darren's side and asked.Their voices and expressions were laced with concern.
"I'm all right." Darren waved his hand and dismissed their unease. However, his heart still flutteredwith fear as he got to his feet.
He was curious and wanted to learn who had released the pressure. It had felt like the entire worldwas pressing on him, leaving him incapable of any thoughts of resistance.
Whoosh!
A shadow flashed and landed beside Darren.
"What did you feel just now?" Lindsay's brows furrowed as she asked.
"Did you feel it as well?"
"Yes," Lindsay nodded before she continued, "I didn't feel it to the extent that you did. But it wasenough to show me that you were in extreme danger. I can't believe that you are unharmed.”
"So you know what that was?"
"Of course. One of the chief gods detected you," Lindsay appeared grim as she spoke.
"What?" Darren blurted as shock coursed through him. "Was that pressure from a chief god?
Why did he suddenly focus on me?" Darren asked, puzzled.
"According to what my father has told me, it is impossible for a chief god to detect and attack aDefiant Master under normal circumstances. This has something to do with some law restrictions. However, a Defiant Master can catch the chief gods’ attention in certain situations, at which point, the chief gods can crush the former with their god's sense.
My father said there could be two possibilities. First, if a Defiant Master dares to intrude in the chiefgods’ territory, he will be killed. Second, the chief gods will take action if a Defiant Master acquiresthe faith of another Defiant Master or one of their descendants.”
Lindsay paused for a moment, and then said, "For example, if I vow to believe in you now, the chiefgods will kill you. Since you caught a chief god's attention and you haven't trespassed, there couldonly be one explanation. Duke must be a Defiant Master or a descendant.”
"I see!" Darren's eyes widened with understanding. He released a little of his god's power to healDuke's injuries.
A moment later, Duke woke.
"Are you a Defiant Master?" Darren wasted no time and asked him directly.
Confusion reflected on Duke's face as he looked at his surroundings. Everything in front of him feltunfamiliar.
"Who are you?" his voice trembled as he asked. When he glanced at Darren, his eyes widened. Hefelt as though the man in front of him was familiar, but he could not recall his identity.
"It's me. I'm the Conflicting Chief God. You just vowed to believe in me," Darren tilted his head as heanswered. Something didn't feel right about this situation, but he couldn't quite figure out what waswrong.
"Ouch! I have a headache.” Duke cradled his head and tried hard to recall. After a while, he quicklyknelt on the ground and bowed. "Sir, I don't know what happened. I felt terrible as though I hadslept for tens of thousands of years. My mind was blank just now."
"Well, I'm glad you remember me now. It appeared as though you'd lost your memory.” Darrensmiled with understanding. Then he said, "Tell me, Duke. What's your relationship with the DefiantMaster?"
"I don't know. As I was orphaned at a very young age, I don't know anything about my family. However, throughout my childhood, I've had a recurrent terrible dream about the Defiant Master. But each time I woke, I could not remember what I experienced in my dream.
That's why I agreed to serve you without hesitation when I learned that you are a Defiant Master,”Duke explained.
"It seems that he's a descendant of the Defiant Master, like me,” concluded Lindsay.
"Yes, he should be,” Darren nodded. A thought flashed through his mind, and he turned to her andasked, "Did your father suffer from the chief gods’ oppression at that time?"
"Of course, not. According to my father, all Defiant Masters suppressed by the chief gods died, including the strongest in history," Lindsay disclosed.
"In that case, I am fortunate enough to pass the test again. Ha-ha," Darren smiled.
"Lucky enough? I think you are strange. Even the chief god's pressure couldn't kill you! Tell me.What treasure are you hiding?" Lindsay asked with arms akimbo.
"I honestly don't know. It's just luck.” Darren shrugged and pretended to be ignorant. He didn'twant to reveal the secret of the God Character in his mind.
"Fine then. Don't tell me. Anyway, the stronger you are, the better it is for me.” Lindsay glared atDarren but didn't ask any more questions.
Darren turned and commanded, "Everyone return to the camp now! And take Duke so he can rest!""Yes, sir."
Someone immediately grabbed Duke and flew away with him.
"Sir, Duke's subordinates and the other forces have escaped. What should we do?" someonereported.
"Follow them, and convince them to believe in me. As for those who don't agree, don't torturethem. Leave them.”
Darren knew that the leaders of those forces were dead. Since the people were leaderless, themajority would choose to submit to Darren as it was very dangerous for them to leave the groupand live in the Tussle Region alone.
Once the people left to carry out his orders, Darren returned to the sect he had chosen
He was happy that he had time to cultivate.
A month passed peacefully.
In the Xiling Clan of the Tussle Region
Boom!
A great god's power erupted in the sky, shaking all the palaces nearby.
This sudden and violent movement pleased Caleb, the ancestor of the Xiling Clan. His eyes flewopen, and he rushed out of his secret room at once.
"Ha-ha-ha! Davis succeeded! He has attained a major achievement in his Lawless Avatar. He'll have agreat future.”
Caleb was speaking about Davis’ avatar.
It was named the "Lawless Avatar," as no laws restricted it.
In addition to the nine chief gods, only a few great talents possessed such an avatar, and each ofthem grew into a famous overlord later.
This was why Caleb paid so much attention to this young man.
"Ancestor, I have finally succeeded. I will explore the Immortal Land and replace the medicine for you tomake you immortal,” Davis flew forward and said with great joy.
"Good, good. What a good boy!" Caleb nodded with satisfaction.
With the help of the Lawless Avatar, no rule cultivator would be able to hurt Davis. Hence, it wouldbe easy for him to enter the Immortal Land and get the magic herbs and elixirs.
"Oh, by the way, I will help you get that Defiant Master now. I apologize for making you wait.""You are right. It is time to catch him. I believe you should go by yourself. Your avatar's safety cannotbe risked," Caleb instructed.
"But, ancestor, I have just reached the upper-level of the Star God Realm. I am far weaker than myavatar."
"There's no need to worry. Your real body can deal with a Defiant Master who is in the Domain GodRealm. What's more, the soul of your real body and avatar are independent of each other. Even ifyou are injured, or god forbid, you die, your avatar won't be affected.”
"Ancestor, I understand. I shall do as you have asked." Davis didn't hesitate any further. “Mycultivation level is at the upper-level of the Star God Realm. It is enough to deal with that brat, * hethought.
