Chapter 1324 The Red-chained Armor
The people who beat Field were so bloodthirsty that they decided to go after Darren and hiscompanions too, for absolutely no reason.
"What did he ever do to you? Why are you trying to kill us just because we know him?" spat Darrencoldly. Now he was in no hurry to leave.
"Bullshit. Do we need a reason to kill people?”
"Well said." Weber, watching from the sides, clapped his hands and smiled.
"Darren, please don't provoke them. Come on, just say a few good words for my sake,”
begged Field as he could sense a fight about to break out.
Darren was his last shot at survival. As long as he put in a good word for him, and proved that hisclan had a lot of divine patterns, the other party might spare his life. Divine patterns were, after all, tempting to anyone.
Darren shook his head. "You coward.”
"Darren, calm down. These warriors are all very powerful. Don't act so brashly." Field was very afraidthat Darren would be killed. If that happened, he was doomed.
"Fuck off.” Darren flew over and kicked Field out of the way. "It's so annoying to see you acting likesuch a coward."
"Humph! You are so arrogant! You have no fear of death!”
"Dario, don't waste any more time. Just kill him and take the woman."
"That's exactly what I was thinking of doing," said the leader of the group, with a sinister smirk onhis face.
Whoosh!
Bang! Bang! Bang!
Several figures were flung into the air by a single move.
"Those were some fast reflexes, Weber!" said Lindsay with a smile.
"Of course. I'm Darren's best buddy now. I should take the initiative to deal anyone who tries to hurthim. That's what best buddies are supposed to do."
Although the several opponents had the strength of cultivators at the top level of the Star GodRealm, they were nothing against Weber.
Even if it was Darren who fought against them, they wouldn't have any chance at winning.
Darren and his group then flew over.
"So, how do you want to die?" said Weber as he kicked the young man in the lead
"Who are you?" Instead of begging for his life, the young man ripped out a pained shout as hisbody twisted in anguish.
"Cut the crap.” Weber grabbed the young man and broke his arm as if he were merely breaking atree branch.
The young man gritted his teeth and didn't even make a sound of pain. "Do you think that you cantorture me with that cheap trick? It's going to take much more than what you can do to hurt me.""Aha, what a tough young man,” said Weber, his lips curving mischievously.
"Guys, there is no bad blood between us. This is just one big misunderstanding. Can we just let itpass?" The young man in the lead didn't utter a word, so another one in their group had to speakup;
"Just let it pass? Why the hell should we listen to you? Who do you think you are?" Weber had hishands clasped behind his back and his big belly bulged out, looking proud as he spoke.
"You ungrateful brat! Don't you know that we are from the Nine Mysterious Sect? What's more,Dario Yue is the son of the sect leader himself!" As the man spoke, he beamed at the young man inthe lead.
The Nine Mysterious Sect was very famous in the Tussle Region, and ranked in the top ten sects inthe Tussle Region. There were also warriors at the Superior God Realm guarding the sect.
"Sir, just let him go. The less trouble the better.”
By this time, Field had already rolled to Weber's side without anyone noticing.
He finally felt he was in the clear. He felt eternally grateful for Weber's help.
But he stood his ground about the power of the Nine Mysterious Sect. He knew that once theyoffended that sect, they would be in great trouble. So he persuaded Weber to back off, and he feltthat he did so out of good intention to save Weber's life.
"I told you to fuck off,”
said Weber as he kicked him away again.
"Darren, do you want to kill them or turn them into your believers?” Weber looked at Darren.Darren of course wanted to turn them into his believers, because the Power of Belief couldstrengthen his black god's power.
"Hey, you guys, be my believers," said Darren straightforwardly.
"What a joke! Your believers? Why should we believe in you?" said someone in the crowd in disgust."Wait, believers? You, you're a Defiant Master?!" exclaimed someone in shock.
"How could this be possible?” They couldn't believe that they had actually met a Defiant Master."Swear on your life to serve and believe in the Conflicting Chief God, then we'll let you live,”threatened Darren in response.
"That's..." they stuttered as they gave each other worried looks.
"That's impossible. Even if you are a Defiant Master, I won't swear my allegiance to you." In people'sminds, being a believer was the worst of the worst, even more so than being someone's servant.Darren didn't say a word and released a stream of sword intent with torturous itchy toxin on them. The toxin was so bad that it brought them to the edge of their deaths, and they finally surrendered—save for their young leader.
"Darren, How should we deal with this guy?"
"Well, since he's being stubborn, we can just leave him there to die." Darren didn't bother to fightwith him. He instead released several streams of sword intent which penetrated deep into theyoung man's bones.
"I swear you'll die. Your end will be much worse than mine,” the young man cursed ferociously as herolled and twisted in pain. His body was covered in scratches because of the itchy toxin.
Despite this, he had the mettle to stay tough and unyielding.
"Father, please help me..." Choking up blood, the young man forcibly used his arcane skill to send amessage to the Nine Mysterious Sect.
"Dario, what happened to you?" A worried and harsh voice spoke into the young man's mind."Father, I feel terrible. I want to die." The young man only managed to send one last message withhis remaining strength.
Darren and his companions ignored the young man and walked out with the several new believers."Darren, what should we do about this guy?"
They were referring to Field, who'd been kicked away by Weber, hanging from a tree. He was bloodyand beaten.
"Fine, let's go treat his injuries," said Darren.
"Why? He's such a jerk! We were already kind enough to spare him from the itchy toxin. Why shouldwe help him?" said Lindsay.
"Their clan has many divine patterns and killing points.” Finley seemed to have seen right throughDarren's mind.
"Correct." Darren smiled cunningly.
"Ha-ha, it turns out that you just want to take advantage of this opportunity, you profiteer,” saidWeber with a wicked smile.
They spent two hours restoring Field's health.
"Thank you, sirs! Thank you so much!" Waking up, Field swiftly dropped his head to the ground likea chicken pecking at a rice grain.
People didn't know how precious their life was until they'd gotten a taste of death. Now even Fieldhad set aside his pride.
"So, your name is Field Zhou?" asked Darren.
"Yes, that's right. My Lord," replied Field.
Darren glared at him. "You are a coward to the bone. Now you're calling me lord? You don't deserveto call me that, and don't you dare say it again.”
"Yes, sir!" Field prostrated to the ground as he spoke.
"You are far from a weakling. How did you get beaten up like that?"
"Alas," Field sighed. It was ultimately because he was too arrogant. With two series of divinepatterns and the Red-chained Armor protecting him, he always thought he was invincible among hispeers.
It was not until now that he realized that he was being naive, like a big fish in a small pond. He hadno idea how powerful the disciples of truly big sects were.
"I thought I was invincible since I have the Red-chained Armor which can withstand the attacks fromthe warriors at the low-level of the Celestial God Realm. I didn't expect that they also had divineweapons. My Red-chained Armor meant nothing to them, and I was easily defeated,” replied Field, bitterly.
"Oh?"
Darren gave no response, but Weber's eyes instantly lit up.
"Hand that armor you just mentioned to Darren, or else..."
Field was dumbfounded. The moment Weber spoke these words he just wanted to slap himself inthe face and never wake up. How could he tell them he had the Red-chained Armor? It was themost precious treasure his clan possessed.
"In order to thank you for saving my life, I really did intend to give it to you, sir." Field had no choicebut to bite the bullet as he offered his precious treasure to Darren.
