Talented Martial Hero -
Chapter 527 Legendary Weapon Protection
Darren turned to look at the clouds and marveled at the aura he sensed above them. It was strongindeed, despite its vast distance from him.
"How powerful mutants are! I must say!" he exclaimed. "Are there any seven-star grand warriorsamong them?"
He felt an equally strong aura in Eddy, but that aura was a little weaker than that of a seven-star lawenforcer.
However, now that the law enforcers couldn't come to the Bottom Spiritual World, the mutantswould prove themselves a serious problem for this world.
At that moment, all the great and powerful martial artists and rule cultivators in the Bottom SpiritualWorld looked toward the clouds with no little sense of unease.
That unease was doubled when a booming noise shook the heavens.
Their amazed eyes were drawn to the southern sky, where the inky black tail of a dragon swept itsway through the air. Gradually, the rest of the creature's body emerged from the misty clouds. It washuge, perhaps three thousand feet long.
By comparison, Scott, whose skill was equal to that of a five-star grand warrior, was only a hundredfeet long when he transformed into a dragon. So how strong could that black monster be?"Perhaps this dragon is the Dragon King of the demonic monster domain,” Darren murmured tohimself in astonishment. "Could he belong to the Dragon Blood Clan?"
He had once thought that only Scott's family had a dragon bloodline. Supposedly, the legendaryDragon King to whom he just had referred was also a dragon, or could turn into one.
But on second thoughts, the existence of the Dragon King was entirely plausible. Darren had oncemet a flood dragon himself, and subsequently gained the inheritance skill of the Dragon Blood Clanby killing it. Maybe that flood dragon's bloodline had not been the only one of its kind.
Before he could ponder this any further, there was another sound like a tremendous thunderclap, but this time from the north side of the sky. There, a double-headed man appeared among theclouds, one thousand feet in height.
This new creature's skin was a deep blue, darker than the sky behind him, and its two heads werefierce and terrible to behold. It was plain that its power was no less than that of the Dragon King.Boom! Boom!
The whole landscape shook as the two titans made their presence felt. The double-headed manroared and the dragon swept his tail about, and horrible quakes rattled the mountains.
If the Bottom Spiritual World hadn't been upgraded before, it was certain that the whole land wouldbe destroyed by this two mutants.
One of the many warriors present finally regained his nerve and let out a defiant shout. "Youbastard! Stop!"
His courage spread like a wildfire among his comrades, many of whom immediately joined him.Taking flight together, they sped upward toward the two giant kings.
"Kill them right now!"
But even as he said these words, the skies around the two kings began to fill with their troops:double-headed men and demonic monsters.
For a nerve-racking moment the two airborne armies surged toward each other. The people on theground watched breathlessly as they finally crashed together, and the battle was joined.
But, as brave as the men in the air were, it was clear that they were outmatched by their monstrousopponents. As quickly as the fight had begun, it was over, and soon they were raining back to theground, beaten and exhausted.
Darren observed all this with mounting outrage and dismay. He was as eager as anyone to meet thetwo mutant kings in battle and completely obliterate them, but he knew that it was hopeless.
As confident as he was in his own skill, he knew that he wasn't good enough to take on the DragonKing or the Double-headed King. If he flew up there and challenged them both, they would kill himimmediately for sure
For a long, awful moment, the whole land was darkened by the shadow cast by the two mutantkings and their victorious armies. The humans below saw nothing before them except the promiseof a slaughter.
Then, incredibly, a subtle swishing sound penetrated the uproarious commotion of the scene.
At the same time a golden arrow stabbed upward through the sky, a black line trailing behind."Huh? What is that?"
Darren looked, and despite the vast distance between himself and that golden arrow, its powermade his heart skip a beat.
"Even the seven-star law enforcers couldn't penetrate through the space, but how can that goldenarrow make it? And where did it come from?"
But then his confusion left him in a flash, and he exclaimed, "Oh! I got it! It's from the HeavenlyPalace Sect!"
The masters in the Chasm Clan had once said that whenever the mutants rioted, it was possible toprotect the land by the use of two legendary weapons.
That golden arrow looked like one of them, and it belonged to the Heavenly Palace Sect.
Wherever it had come from, it was a mighty weapon indeed. Darren could sense that much.
The arrow tore through the void, its sound penetrating the clouds like a sharp cry of triumph.
The dragon saw the incoming threat and answered with his own menacing roar.
He twisted in midair, bringing his tail around to lash out and strike the arrow aside.
But he was too slow. That glinting golden weapon buried itself in his tail, nearly severing it.
So then the Dragon King gradually disappeared into the clouds with a roar.
For a few moments everyone simply stood frozen in awe, watching the dragon's retreat. But then asecond golden arrow appeared in the north end of the sky, bolting straight for the Double-headedKing. The giant mutant spotted it and threw himself aside, desperate to avoid sharing in his ally'sdefeat.
Yet, to his horror, the speeding projectile smoothly adjusted its course in mid-flight, following himeven as he continued his evasive maneuver.
There was a sharp bang and a flash of light that dazzled the onlookers for a brief moment.
When their eyes had cleared, they saw that the glorious weapon had ripped through one of theDouble-headed King's arms, cutting it clean off at the shoulder.
Everyone covered their ears as the king opened both of his mouths.
The whole earth shook as his two heads screamed as one.
The echoes of that murderous sound carried all the way to the southern land, where the HeavenlyPalace Sect was at.
There, a venerable, white-haired old man gazed across the sky. One of his hands held a bow ofexquisite bronze, while the other was bloody and trembled.
He had drawn the bow twice, and that had taken all of his strength.
"I cannot draw the bow again,” he managed to say. "Quick! Send a message to the Chasm Clan. Tellthem to activate the legendary weapon.” His companions nodded, and several three-star top levelgrand warriors set out at once.
Meanwhile, the Dragon King was conferring with the Double-headed King. The two quickly agreedthat human beings couldn't sustain such a powerful counter-attack for long.
Besides that, they were too enraged for their wounds to keep them from going on the attack againMore than anything else, they wanted to crush the Heavenly Palace Sect for this humiliation.
Their huge bodies drew a curtain of darkness over both the southern and northern lands. The smellof death wreathed every creature as the power of these awful titans descended.
Sizzle!
Just before they could touch the ground, the two kings were halted by incredible, invisible energies.Mystical golden runes shimmered across the landscape beneath them, repelling their powers.
The Dragon King and Double-headed King howled constantly.
The Dragon King paused for a moment. "Damned humans! Sooner or later, I will annihilate everylast one of you. I promise that you don't have long to live."
The earth reverberated with his rough, threatening voice.
"Delicious human, It will not be long before I eat you! Ha ha ha! Soon enough I will make a deliciousfeast of you! Ha ha!"
Later, the Dragon King and Double-headed King ordered their followers to destroy the golden runesthat had impeded them.
The mysterious glow of those runes was powerful enough to illuminate the sky. If you looked up,you could see that they formed a gigantic net, covering and protecting the north, south, east, andwest lands.
Obviously, this was the legendary weapon of the Chasm Clan.
According to the ancient records, this weapon was honestly little more than a net which had oncebeen used for fishing.
What set it apart from any other net was that it had belonged to a mysterious holy emperor in theRemote Age. Later generations knew little about it. They didn't even know what kind of fish it hadbeen used for.
It was generally agreed that the holy emperor had to have been more powerful than those whocame after him, since the time he'd lived in was more ancient. Take Hiram the Great, for instance. Hewas the holy emperor of the recent age, and everyone knew about his prowess, but he was stillweaker than any holy emperor from the Middle Age, and even more so than one from the RemoteAge.
Therefore, the ancient holy emperor's net, which had been preserved for hundreds of millions ofyears, was enough to ward off any attack by mutants. If the person who could summon that net hadenough power, then even the holy emperors in the later ages would need to work hard to break it.But at the same time, it would take a lot of power to maintain this defense net. So when thesuccessors of the Chasm Clan used it, it would last for five years at most.
That was why the masters in the Chasm Clan said that the legendary weapon could protect theBottom Spiritual World for several years, but not indefinitely.
The mutants attacked the fishing net in a frenzy, but for all their combined strength, they couldn'tbreak through it. Slowly but surely, they exhausted themselves, and their confidence crumbled.Seeing all this from the remote eastern land, Darren was exceedingly relieved. That legendaryweapon would give him time to improve his skill.
"In three or five years, I have to achieve the power which can defeat the seven-star grand warrior,”he said through clenched teeth. It was a formidable challenge indeed, but it was not impossible.Meanwhile, the Dragon King and the Double-headed King still couldn't breach the net. Graduallythey lost interest in it and began to take notice of each other.
"So, Dragon King, you finally showed yourself," said the double-headed mutant, revealing his sharptusks with a lick of his lips. "You may not be a real dragon, but you still look like you taste prettygood."
Hearing this, the Dragon King hissed with irritation. Rather than lashing out, however, he took to thesky, heading back toward the demonic monster domain.
"You won't get a chance to replace out, you two-headed insect,” he retorted coldly as he went. "Once Ikill these human beings, it's your turn to die."
With the crisis averted for the time being, Darren steeled himself, flew outside, and unleashed hisspiritual sense to feel the sword intent.
Hundreds of thousands of sword intent's fragments of Starry Tower were scattered across the land.Although they had been consumed for the most part, there were still many left. Thus, Darren wasable to replace them by using spiritual sense.
After searching for ten days, he had found several sword intent's fragments. Some were deep insidea mountain, while others were beneath the surface of a wild lake. Soon after that, he would reachhis next destination: the Starry Tower.
