Talented Martial Hero -
Chapter 669 The Portrait
Darren shot a glance at Hobson. One stream of blood traveled all the way from Hobson's neck tohis fingers, dripping continuously.
"What happened?”
"I, I just looked at the portrait on the wall, and then I became blind," Hobson hissed in pain andstammered.
Darren turned his head back and narrowed his eyes at the scene. He could see a portrait of twopeople, and every part of it felt surreal. In Darren's eyes, the picture was too vivid. The personmaking this image must have been a professional, and he didn't feel anything uncomfortable aboutthe portrait.
"I've seen this portrait, and it should have affected me just like it happened in your case.” Darrenturned to look at Hobson. "Why don't I feel anything?" His eyes landed on the trembling fingers andblinded eyes of Hobson. "You should refine some magic herbs to heal yourself first," Darren said.Hobson nodded only to replace some magic herbs. "I just used my spiritual sense to probe. I don'tknow how, but I suddenly felt immense pain in my eyes, and I became blind." If Hobson's eyes werefine, he would've looked at Darren with eyes full of worry. He pursed his lips and continued to dohis work. He knew Darren would check the portrait too. "Darren, if I were you, I wouldn't try torepeat what I just did." Hobson went silent and began to refine magic herbs to cure his eyes.Darren looked at the wall again.
The portrait had two figures. One of them was a young man in white with a ruler engraved inancient runes in his hand
On the other hand, the second person in the portrait was an exceedingly beautiful woman. Everylimb of the woman felt like it was animated and moving in front of him. Darren's eyes fixed on her,and his mind became blank. It felt almost as if she was alive and could jump out any minute.
The woman in the portrait tempted Darren to unleash his spiritual sense to scan her.
He felt a lump in his throat.
The portrait released a strong aura. It sent a chill down Darren's spine. Dizziness washed over himfor a moment as if he was drowning in the deep water. His ears could hear nothing but the beepsound.
His mind was utterly absorbed in the portrait of this woman. The more he looked at her, the moreshe started to allure him. Darren's heart started thudding wildly in his chest. The beauty of thatwoman seemed to increase ten-fold, and he was unable to look away. It was as if someone hadnailed his face on the wall, and his eyes could only see her.
Even if he missed one second, he would regret it for the rest of his life.
Her purple clothes felt like waving back and forth in the air. Darren could almost see her smilingthat made his heart jump. He had not felt this comfortable and warm since forever. Who would havethought that this happiness was only a small fleeting cover for the portrait to act against him?"Ah!"
The piercing pain in his eyes brought him back to his senses.
Darren covered his eyes and squatted on the ground. His hands started to tremble because ofimmense pain. He felt a drop of wet blood streaming down the back of his hands.
"She's so charming.” The pain in Darren's eyes increased. "It has affected me too.”
Darren was like a drowning child only to breathe faster as if he was going to die.
"Who is the woman in the portrait? Why couldn't I free myself?" Darren brought his tremblingfingers down. "Why did I become blind?" Now that Darren was back to his usual self, he wasshocked at how he felt for the woman in the portrait.
He had never been so obsessed before. That kind of unworldly and ethereal feeling was sofascinating.
It took Darren a long time to calm down. He sat on the ground and assimilated the spiritual energyto heal his eyes.
Darren took a deep breath and blinked his eyes several times. When he felt like his eyes were backto normal, his shoulders relaxed. He stood up and narrowed his eyes at the portrait.
"Oh my God! That man is so fierce! My eyes exploded just because I took a glance with my spiritualsense.” Hobson also looked towards the portrait and shivered. He didn't even want to rememberthat frightening moment.
"Then you should go to see that woman. I'm sure you will be stuck.” The corner of Darren's mouthlifted.
Hobson chuckled and shook his head. “I don't dare. Even your eyes exploded. I would be foolish if Iwent to see it." He averted his eyes from the portrait and grinned.
"Let's fly along the wall to see if there are other portraits.”
"Okay."
Darren and Hobson flew along the wall, one on each side. After two hours, they returned to theplace where they had been.
"I just saw one portrait over this side. Beyond that was a dark world, and I dared not to march pastthe portrait.” Hobson shuddered, remembering the portrait. It was good that he returned ratherthan going forward.
"l also found one, and there was no path ahead.” Darren found the same situation.
"Darren, who do you think had been engraving the painting on the wall? The figures in the portraitare so vivid and ethereal, like real people. Just a portrait is so powerful. Who are the people on it?"Hobson couldn't hold on anymore. He had so many queries in his mind that he felt like he would gomad.
Darren was silent for a moment. He wanted to know more about those portraits too. Just who werethose people?
To replace the answer, they had to probe the portrait and observed it, and maybe they could drawsome conclusion.
Darren pursed his lips. That was easier said than done. He didn’t want to go blind all over againwithout going anywhere near the answer.
The pictures seemed to hold some spiritual power. His eyes opened wide at the realization.
"The figures in the portrait are surrounded by runes. I guess they are rule cultivators.”
The portrait would need extraordinary power if he would ever want to scan them. If I use my silveryeyes to see them, will I get hurt?’ Darren thought.
Darren furrowed his eyebrows and looked carefully at the portrait of two people. The worst resultwas that his eyes would explode again.
He activated his Spirit Power to enter the world of rules, and his eyes turned silver.
His silver eyes swept on the portrait and widened. What he saw on the wall were not two livelycharacters anymore, but two human shapes made of some extremely complicated rule silk threads.“It did work."
Darren's mouth quirked up when he noticed that the portrait couldn't hurt him anymore.
There were also many words around the female form. He glanced at it and started reading it aloud."Fairy Claudia has been here for a visit. If someone extraordinary were lucky enough to see me, hewould be given half volume of the true rule.”
Below that were more densely engraved words that Darren couldn't recognize.
"Although the words above are ancient, they are still recognizable, but the half volume of the truerule recorded below cannot be read at all." Darren shook his head.
However, since a fairy had left it, the true rule should be a treasure. Darren decided to place animpression of the words in his mind. He extended his spiritual sense and imprinted the words deepin his subtle self. He would later replace a way to understand it.
Darren darted his eyes at the man, and there were also some words around.
He squinted his eyes and started reading the words aloud. "Today, I've been here with Claudia, having a good time. I'll leave half the volume of Divine Thunder-Manipulating Formula to a luckyman and hope he can value it."
Darren could see similar strange words. The pictures attached to it were the only exception.
There were four pictures in total. Darren's silver eyes scanned them one after another. Complicatedand long rule silk threads surrounded them.
In the first picture, those rule lines condensed into a ruler. Thunderbolt surrounded the void and hitthe ruler.
The second picture had a new monster that looked similar to the Water Kylin. It raised its claws intothe sky and created a huge black vortex in the void. In such a situation, even stars couldn't hold onand started falling.
It seemed that every picture depicted what would happen after the previous one. Darren looked atthe third picture and confirmed this fact. In the third picture, the divine thunder triggered by theruler hit the monster, who vanished in a flash.
In the fourth picture, the thunder rushed into the void. The stars exploded and formed a scenery asbeautiful as the colorful Milky Way.
"What these drawings show is the power of the Divine Thunder-Manipulating Formula,” Darrenconcluded after reading them.
Under these pictures, there were a few words that Darren could understand.
"This is a rule formula of an immortal. Martial artists can't practice, or they would die immediately.Even if you are a rule cultivator, you are not allowed to practice unless you have already entered thesenior Holy Realm. If you are a rule emperor, it would be the best. A rule emperor can practice hardto achieve small achievements.”
Darren's mind went blank when he saw this.
According to the text, the cultivator who wanted to practice this rule formula must be at least a rulecultivator who was in the senior Holy Realm. And he had better be as strong as a rule emperor toachieve little success. What did this mean?
Who was the young man in the portrait? It seemed that the young man didn't give enough face tothe emperor.
"It must be a great treasure. I should remember it." Darren used his spiritual sense to keep thewords of this rule formula in his mind.
The portrait was finally done, and he blinked twice only to replace his eyelids becoming heavy. He keptbreathing hard because of exhaustion. Darren got out of the state of silvery eyes and returned tothe normal state.
"Darren, what happened to you just now? Why didn't you wake up? You scared me!"
Only then did Darren hear a cry. Darren slipped his stunned eyes at the worried face of Hobson.
"I am fine. I used some special means to observe the portrait, and I am just fascinated by it.” Darrensmiled lightly, and he cleared his mind to recover his Spirit Power. He had two more pictures toobserve.
