Talented Martial Hero -
Chapter 683 The Punishment
As both of them were injured, the strength of their Holy Will slowly declined.
But even so, the force was still significant and was at least stronger than what Orval could havedone while he was alive.
Jordan's head was bleeding, but he didn't care much. He frantically released countless runes andtransformed them into various weapons, desperately wanting to kill Hobson.
Harrison was furious too. Despite his oozing blood and torn heart, he charged towards Hobson withall his might.
Various kinds of Holy Will attacks fell upon Hobson, all fatal and potentially disastrous. Within a fewseconds, Hobson's body had suffered hundreds of injuries. However, they were all completelytreated by the old man.
But since he had to use his Life True Rule to cure Hobson frequently, the old man himself had nowconsumed too much of his Spirit Power and was slowly growing weary.
With his body breaking and healing over and over again, Hobson found it difficult to bear the painany longer.
"Kill them!" the Crimson Sea Sect leader, Harrison, thundered as he waved his hands.
Instantly, two streams of blood gushed out of his palms. One was aimed at the old man, the othercharged its way towards Hobson.
As for Jordan, he had already approached the old man and launched a large amount of runes athim.
They caught the signs of weariness on the old man’s face. This made them believe that as long asthey struck him and distracted his attention from Hobson, killing Hobson would become mucheasier for them.
As the old man was constantly moving through the space, Jordan and Harrison couldn't inflict muchharm on him. But even so, constantly healing Hobson had worn the old man out. Hobson could feelthe recovering process get slower and more painful.
'If it goes on like this, I will die without a doubt, * he thought ruefully. He sensed that the old man'sability to master the space and repair his body was waning noticeably.
"Sir, please aid me with your Space True Rule!" Hobson called out to the old man, then released hisoverbearing Fringe Holy Will and raced towards Harrison.
Given the circumstances, the old man had no choice but to try his best to control the Space TrueRule so that Hobson would be able to dodge Harrison's attack and then charge him.
A howl ripped through the air. Harrison thundered as he noticed Hobson coming his way, a furiouslight shining in his eyes. In this critical moment of life and death, he released all his power.
But by then, Hobson's spear had already been unleashed in Harrison's direction.
After a harsh clang, Hobson's spear was smashed to pieces.
Harrison's energized Holy Will had broken through Hobson's spear and blasted upon his body."Jordan, aim at the old man!" Harrison shouted to Jordan.
Grabbing this opportune moment, Jordan revealed all his runes and assailed the old man.
As Hobson's body exploded in the blast, the old man had no time nor spare energy left to deal withJordan's attack. Hastily, he fumbled to heal Hobson without heeding the approaching danger.Jordan's blow fell upon the old man and the force of it flung him against the stone wall. It was avery damaging blow that a big chasm appeared in the wall.
For the first time since this whole ordeal had started, the old man had failed to escape the blow. Itwas plain that the reason for this failure was that Hobson was too weak and frail that the old manhad to consume most of his energy to bring him back to life. As time went by, it was natural for himto grow weary.
Having savored the taste of success, Jordan was more inspired to fight. His next attack was evenfiercer than the last one.
It was clear that the situation wasn't looking up. Hobson had hardly recovered when he receivedanother blow from Harrison's bloody palm.
'I'm so screwed this time. He was in a state of great shock and absolute terror. With the old manlying on the ground, badly injured, he had no choice but to rely on himself this time.
Though in a way, he was fortunate that both Arlo and Dexter hadn't joined their fight.
Otherwise, the united force the four men created would have long defeated the old man, andHobson would have been killed long much earlier in the fight.
Suddenly, to his utmost relief, a heavy rumbling sound rang through the stone hall.
Like the pouring rain, countless blade and sword shadows floated down covering the entire place."It's the blade and sword intents! It's Darren!" Hobson exclaimed, shivering with both terror and joy. He'd been on the verge of death, for just when the bloody palm was about to end him, Darren'sblade and sword intents reached them in time and destroyed the palm, rescuing him.
"What amazing blade and sword intents!" Hobson said in wonder.
He could feel that both the blade intent and the sword intent Darren had just utilized were at anextreme level. But that wasn't all, they were even more powerful when they were combinedtogether.
"It seems that Darren has become more powerful than me!” Hobson murmured, feeling relieved.
A man's figure finally appeared from above.
He floated in the air, tall and proud, with his robe fluttering in the wind and his black hair whippingaround his face. His presence seemed to overpower everything, for there was a strange butinvincible aura wafting around him that caught everyone by surprise.
Bang!
A dark gold internal force shot out from Darren and sprang at Jordan.
Jordan, sensing the otherworldly power of the internal force, activated his Holy Will runes in anattempt to fend off the attack.
He succeeded in deflecting the dark gold internal force. However, behind the internal force, therelurked the blade and sword intents.
Once again, Jordan transformed his runes into a shield and hid behind it.
While the sword and blade intents were also blocked, Jordan still staggered several feet back by thesheer force of the attack. The old man, who was now back on his feet, sprang forward before Jordancould replace his footing again. Within a few seconds, the old man had carried out thousands ofpunches in Jordan's chest until he was all beaten up.
"Hobson, let's hit him together!" Darren suggested.
Jorden already suffered from a bad wound in his head, making him less powerful than he used tobe. The old man's attacks had only added to his wounds. There was no doubt in Darren's mind, nowwas the best time to end the dwarf.
The old man was naturally aware of what Darren had meant. In order to help them achieve theiraim, he activated his Space True Rule and moved Darren and Hobson. In a flash, the two menvanished without warning and then reappeared right in front of Jordan.
Darren's powerful sword and blade intents, Hobson's overbearing spear intent, and the old man'shard and tough palms, all simultaneously fell on Jordan.
"Ah!"
Jordan was terrified going dreadfully pale. Under the old man's control of the Space True Rule, hehad no chance of escaping this place.
In his despair, he let out all of his runes and set the strongest defense line that he'd ever triedbefore.
Bang! Bang! Bang!
After a series of heavy rumbles and harsh clashes, his defense line was shattered to pieces. Now, hewas laid bare to his enemy.
In the meantime, Darren and Hobson, being so close to Jordan, were also crushed to pieces by thedispersed Holy Will runes. Immediately recalling his strength, the old man activated his Life TrueRule and brought them back to life.
Having used up all of his runes, Jordan was out of options. His end was coming, it was clear hedidn't hold the slightest chance of survival.
"Jordan, you can go to hell!"
Darren yelled and assimilated his Spirit Power.
“Good! I've reached the peak of the level twenty-six Spirit Power, * Darren observed and smiled withsatisfaction. After the assimilation, his Spirit Power had increased a lot.
As all of that transpired, Harrison had watched with terror and did not dare to take action. He wasn'tcertain if entering the battle with the injuries he'd sustained would lead to the same results. Hewasn't one to risk his own life to save others, so he chose to stay where he was, away from danger."You two idiots! Don't you see that Jordan is dead? What good will come out of tussling with oneanother when your life is now at risk?" It wasn't until Harrison had growled those words that thefight between Arlo and Dexter subsided.
"You are a force to reckon with, Arlo. However, if we keep fighting, I'm afraid that we'll all be killed,"Dexter cried out. He was in a state of panic and weariness. They were both badly injured fightingone another, making them easy targets for Darren and Hobson. He realized that with the help of theold man, they would very likely put them to death by the end of the battle.
As Dexter had already stopped, Arlo drew away finally and paid attention to Darren and hiscompanions.
"Let's go." After standing there and pondering for a while, Arlo surprisingly chose to flee instead ofengaging in the battle. He ran towards the broken space passage.
"Damn it!" Harrison cursed, looking furiously at Arlo's receding figure. “Even Arlo has fled away, thenwhat is keeping me here?" Making up his mind, Harrison quickly followed wherever Arlo washeaded. Dexter also followed them.
Darren and Hobson were about to chase after them when the old man stopped them.
They turned to him and found drops of sweat coursing down his face.
"Stop chasing them! I am so very exhausted. Let's get some rest until my Spirit Power isreplenished,” the old man suggested, panting heavily. Needless to say, as he had been using twokinds of true rules from the start of the battle, he had now consumed too much of his energy. HisSpirit Power also seemed to have now become fragile and unclear.
"Are you all right, sir?" Darren squatted down and helped the old man up by the arm.
"I have activated my Life True Rule for more than a thousand times today. It's hard for me to holdon anymore. I need to recuperate,” the old man explained.
It was widely known that one needed to consume a significant amount of Spirit Power to resurrect alife, not to mention reviving a life so many times in such a short period of time.
"I understand. We'll go after them after you've completely recovered,” Darren answered and noddedhis head.
Apart from his concern over the old man’s health, Darren knew that his enemy had no power toescape the Mythological Palace. With that in mind, catching up to them would be just a matter oftime.
Suddenly, the old man's eyes were full of fear.
"Oh, No. It's coming,” the old man murmured
"What's wrong, sir? Are they coming back?" Darren inquired, looking puzzled. Hobson looked up atthe space passage warily, but he didn't see anything out of place.
"No, it's not them. It's the punishment.” The old man's face went as pale as death as he wailed. Before they could understand what was going on, a stone door appeared in the air above the oldman.
With a creaking sound, the door slowly opened. Nothing could be seen except for the completedarkness that came from within.
Gradually, a streak of faint red lightning lit up and streamed towards them. The space seemed tohave no restriction over the red lightning. It grew both brighter and stronger, until it fell on the oldman's body.
