Talented Martial Hero -
Chapter 845 Stewing The Black Monkey
After coming out from the Raksa Sea, Darren and Barnes the Holy wasted no time in flying over towhere Hanson was.
It took them two days to arrive. As soon as they landed, Darren hurried into the cave's openingwhere the old man was waiting.
"Darren! You're back!"
Darren took out the medical materials he had collected and laid them all out. "I have collectedeverything you need.”
"Good. I'll make the pills right away,” the old man said.
Darren nodded and went straight into the cave.
He reached the bed where Hanson was lying on. The latter was pale and his face was contorted inpain.
"How are you feeling, sir?"
"Not bad. I think I can manage a few more days.” Hanson struggled to give a reassuring smile, buthis strength was on its last straw.
"Barnes the Holy, come here." Darren called out towards the entrance of the cave.
"What's going on, Darren?" Having not seen the black monkey before, Mathew stood beside Darrenin shock.
Too preoccupied, Darren introduced Barnes the Holy briefly. "Sir, this is Barnes the Holy. Barnes, thisis Mr. Mathew Xiao."
Suddenly, Hanson began to tremble.
The inside of Mathew's head also began to buzz in disbelief. Was this really the legendary man?How could he still be alive? And now, there he was standing before them!
Mathew shot a skeptical look at Darren. "Darren, are you sure?" he passed on to Darren through hisspiritual sense.
Darren gave him a reassuring gaze. "There is no mistake. He is Barnes the Holy."
With that, Mathew stretched out a hand for a polite shake. "Nice to meet you, sir.”
Barnes grasped the proffered hand. "You can just call me “bro’. That would be enough.” Then, hemoved to stand beside the bed where Hanson laid.
"Wow, those rubbish surely did it." Something dark flashed through Barnes’ eyes. In a blink of aneye, his fiendish aura covered Hanson.
"Ahhh!"
Hanson began to writhe in pain, screaming hoarsely.
Mathew was immediately on his guard, deeply troubled by what he was witnessing. "What?!"
"It's alright, sir. Barnes the Holy knows what he’s doing. He's been poisoned with the same venombefore. He must be driving it out of Hanson,"
Darren hastily explained, putting an arm out to calm Mathew down.
It took four hours of agony before Hanson fell into a peaceful slumber.
"How did it go? Were you able to remove the poison?”
"Of course not. My ability can only do so much. I was able to drive out large portion of the venom, but the toxic bug remains inside his body.
If we don't kill that bug, the poison will continue to spread throughout his body.
He can still live for three or five years after my treatment. But when the poison acts up again, he willbe in grave danger."
"Thank you very much. Your help has definitely lend us some more time in refining the pills,”Mathew said. His gratitude shone through his eyes.
As Barnes was about to turn around, he sensed a powerful aura radiating from Mathew's breath."Well, you really are something! This is the killing sword intent!" he could not help but exclaim.Mathew smiled in modesty. "I'm flattered that such a cultivator like you have noticed. To be honest,I'm simply lucky enough to have stumbled upon the Killing Cultivation.”
Barnes snorted in contempt. In his head, he thought humans were hypocrites. They disguise theirarrogance and pride under the facade of luck.
"Darren, I'm afraid I won't be able to keep you company at the moment. I would like to walkoutside,” Barnes said rather coolly.
"Where are you going?"
Barnes rolled his eyes at Darren's question. "Nowhere? Anywhere? I'll just be hanging around.”"There's something ferocious about him. I'm afraid that he might cause some trouble if he goesout," Mathew said with a frown as soon as Barnes was gone.
"Don't worry, sir. He is suppressed by a strong force so he's in a weaker state. I'm sure he won't becausing trouble.”
"Really?" Seeing Mathew's curious expression, Darren sat down and explained everything to him"It's good to know that his powers are suppressed at the moment,” Mathew said. "If he regains hiswhole strength back, I'm not sure if he can be stopped.”
Darren shrugged and sighed. "That may be true. Anyway, I have something else to do. Please takecare of Mr. Hanson Xiao."
"Very well. Go ahead.”
Since Darren hadn't told the Giant Ape that he had found Barnes the Holy, he decided to go to thePurgatorial Tripod.
But, a realization suddenly hit him. "Wait," he murmured to himself. Barnes the Holy and the InnerFiend had been mistaken for the other.
This meant there was a possibility that Pasquale’s master was the Inner Fiend, but not Barnes theHoly!
Pasquale's master was described as someone covered with golden hair. If that was so, Barnes theHoly was not his master.
Darren rushed into the Purgatorial Tripod.
He was greeted by the sight of the eager Giant Ape.
"Ha ha! Here you are, Darren. How are you doing? Were you able to replace my master?”
Darren thought for a while, unable to replace the correct words to say.
"What is it? Did you fail or did you replace him?" A downcast expression fell on the Giant Apes face."Well, I did replace Barnes the Holy. But I'm afraid he's not your master.”
The Giant Ape looked puzzled. "What do you mean? I have followed my master for tens ofthousands of years. How can I possibly not recognize him?"
"I think your master is the Inner Find of Barnes the Holy," Darren finally revealed.
The Giant Ape looked aghast. "No way! My master has golden hair and has a righteous spirit. Howcould he be the Inner Fiend?"
"Well, it's hard to explain, but I'll try to make you understand.”
With that, Darren told everything he knew to Pasquale.
But Pasquale still refused to believe him. His master couldn't possibly be the Inner Fiend, could he?"My master has never killed anyone innocent. He can't be the Inner Fiend!" he insisted.
"Darren, you won't give up on saving him, will you? You promised me you would save him, right?"Tears began to well up in Pasquale's eyes.
"Don't worry. I plan to keep my promise to you. I will replace a way to save your master and get to thebottom of the story soon,” Darren said, reassuringly.
With a heavy nod, the Giant Ape expressed his gratitude. "Just wait for my good news," Darren said. With that, he prepared to leave. But he didn't immediately return to where Mathew and Hansonwere.
He decided to walk around instead to get some fresh air.
Unknowingly, he stumbled upon a strange place.
The wind blew quietly, caressing the grass as they swayed with its breath. The whole area was silentand almost barren.
This made Darren feel restless. Unbidden, Elsa came suddenly to his mind. The bitter feeling of painblossomed inside his heart. It caught his breath like a punch in the gut.
Amid the pain, anger rumbled sleepily inside him. Gradually heating up until it boiled inside him.Looking up the sky, he couldn't help but say, "Immortal, where is she?"
Then, as sudden as it came to him, he felt drained and powerless. The immortal was a powerfulcreature. Even Barnes the Holy couldn't defeat him. How could Darren possibly face such invinciblebeing? The gap between them in terms of power was too wide to possibly overcome.
Suddenly, the voice of Barnes rang out across the dense forest.
"Fuck off! Release me!"
Darren was baffled. "What? Why is he here?"
'Did Barnes the Holy come here to replace peace as well? he wondered.
A burst of white smoke rose from within the forest. Faint voices began to stream out of it as ifseveral people were speaking all at once.
Darren dashed towards the source of sound. When he finally reached it, he found himself tornbetween laughing and crying.
The black monkey was all tied and thrust up inside a huge iron pot. Fire roared beneath it, happilystewing the contents of the pot as well as the black monkey.
Two men sat around the fire, watching the pot intently as they waited for the stew to boil. There wasa bit of drool coming out of their mouths as they stared. "Elder brother, what kind of a monkey isthis? Why does it speak?
How long before it is finally cooked?" one of them asked.
"Sixteen hours. The soup will taste delicious."
"Yeah, yeah." They continued to wait.
