Darren, on the other hand, followed the instructions of the black-armored man and fled north. Assoon as he reached the gorgeous land, he noticed the looming darkness ahead.

'That should be the forbidden domain the black-armored man mentioned, * he thought.

Without hesitation, Darren dashed towards it.

But suddenly, a blue-skinned man appeared in front of him, blocking his path.

With the long spear in his hand, he stabbed the earth. It pierced through the soft ground, leaving ahorrible crack.

Darren's dark gold internal force surged wildly.

"You brat! Do you really think you can just get pass me while I guard the outer perimeter of theforbidden domain?"

Despite sensing Darren's terrifying aura, the blue-skinned man still put up a tough front by being asintimidating as he could.

The dark gold internal force reached out to the blue-skinned man until he was covered with itentirely. But Darren knew that it was harmless. He turned into a shadow and charged at the otherman.

Blood red light burst out from the void.

It shone bright and painted area scarlet.

And amid that explosion of color, a head was tossed out.

It was the blue-skinned man who was as powerful as a medium senior holy warrior. In just one blow,Darren managed to kill him. The poor man didn't even know what hit him before dying.

Darren assimilated the man's talent and jumped back into the gloom.

"Damn human brat, do you think you can escape?”

Thunder rumbled angrily in the sky. And from a distance, a colorful halo descended upon the land.It was the Misty Emperor.

His unparalleled aura fell heavily upon Darren who immediately felt its suppressing force.

'I must escape!” Darren knew that he could not stand a chance against the Misty Emperor. If he gotcaught this time, he wouldn't be able to get away again.

Nonetheless, he tried to stay firm against the onslaught of the Misty Emperor's pressure.

“The forbidden domain has completely blocked my spiritual sense. I can't detect anything at all, *Darren thought. But then, he was overjoyed by this because it meant the Misty Emperor would havedifficulty in locating him in the darkness.

Beyond the darkness, the colorful halo landed. The light slowly faded to reveal the Misty Emperor.He had a ferocious look on his face. It was as if he desired to rip Darren into pieces. However, hedidn't come any closer. He seemed to hesitate crossing over into the gloom.

All of a sudden, several blue figures appeared beside him.

They acknowledged the Misty Emperor with only a slight nod.

It was obvious that they were in a high position.

"Who enters the forbidden domain?"

"It's a human kid," the Misty Emperor replied through gritted teeth.

"Is he the one who stole the dark-spirit crystals?"

one of the blue men pried further. Worry shone through their eyes.

The Misty Emperor nodded his head. "Yes, he is."

"Humph, if it weren't for your father's sake, you would have been dismissed from your position.Now look at what you've done,” another blue-skinned man fumed.

The Misty Emperor turned suddenly at the man. His eyes were ablaze with murderous intent. "I begyour pardon?”

"Do you have a problem? You better take that human back, or no one can protect you!" The blue-skinned man met the Misty Emperor's gaze as steely and steadily as he could. Neither one seemedfazed by the other.

Until finally, the Misty Emperor gritted his teeth and his body began to fall into a relaxed stance. Thefire in his eyes had calmed as well.

"Very well then. I'll take care of it myself."

"That's good. Let's go.” Then, they all left.

"Old bastards. When I take control of the holy emperor's corpse, I'll kill you!" The Misty Emperor letthat promise linger in his mind as he walked into the darkness.

On the other hand, Darren was moving as fast as he could through the gloom. His pitch blacksurrounding was making it impossible for him to determine which direction was which.

However, the longer he stayed within the darkness, the thicker and stuffier the air began to feel. Itwas as if something terrible waited for him at the other side of the gloom, staring at him.

“The forbidden domain is called forbidden for a reason. I must be careful, * he reminded himself.He landed on the ground and began groping around in the darkness.

Gradually, Darren could hear soft trickles of flowing water.

The sound was like clear crystals clinking against each other. It was so pure and clean. Curious, hebegan to follow that sound.

After walking for a while, he began to notice the cold biting at his skin.

“What's it?"

An ominous feeling welled up inside Darren. It was a sour taste at the back of his throat. He almostgagged when the icy water began reeking of coppery, thick blood. It was the stench of malice.Activating the fire crystal, he condensed a fireball in his hand.

It was difficult to see anything under its light for a moment, but when his eyes finally adjusted, whathe saw made him fly back.

The river was actually full of blood. Its thick, scarlet color also glittered with a golden luster.

"How could there be such a river full of blood?" Darren was astonished to see this much red. Hecouldn't help but wonder how many living creatures had to die to create that kind of river.

It made him shudder.

Suddenly, Darren snapped out of his thoughts in a jolt.

“What's happening?’ The strange stone inside his mind was spinning.

“Can it be assimilated?’

Darren wondered, activating his assimilating skill at once.

As soon as his assimilating power touched the bloody river's surface, the river began to surgedramatically.

It churned and thrashed, threatening to rise and spill over.

A moment later, a bright beam of light descended upon Darren

One ray of light became two. It pierced through the darkness, illuminating everything around it.With his assimilating power, the light passed through his head and went straight for the black stone.Upon the light's touch, the strange stone spun rapidly. It was as if it was reeling in more light untilall the lights were gathered inside his head.

An hour passed when the lights from the bloody river ran out and the strange stone inside his headfinally stopped spinning.

Despite all that, Darren found himself completely unaffected. He couldn't feel anything specialchange inside him at all.

But there was one exception and that was the 12 crystalline faces of the strange stone hadreddened tips. They seemed to be drops from the bloody river.

'What could it be?

The only thing Darren knew was that the stone somehow manifested those red beams of light.However, he had no idea of their possible effects.

Darren's soul reached out to touch those drops.

When suddenly, a drop of liquid fell unto it.

"Wow!"

Darren shouted as a mighty, overwhelming force pervaded his soul.

A power so cold and ruthless immediately filled him to the brim. He felt like he had transformedinto an entirely different person.

It was as if he could smash the world in two with just one hand if he wanted to.

"This feeling... This reminds me of my dream." Wide-eyed, he recalled the sensation he had while hewas trapped inside one of his dreams. There, he became an invincible master. While he may be feelpowerful now, his dream version was still stronger than he currently was.

But a few minutes later, Darren could feel the powerful force receding.

And just like that, it had dissipated.

In the darkness, the Misty Emperor was getting nearer to where Darren was. His determinationpushed him to go faster.

He faltered when he sensed something in the air. He shivered.

“Damn it! Did the human brat trigger the holy emperor's soul? I can feel its power surging throughthe air.’

Fear and doubt clouded the Misty Emperor's mind. He wouldn't dare offend anyone with suchformidable strength in the forbidden domain.

He remembered how his father, one of the strongest half-step emperors in the realm, was severelyinjured by that thing. His old man eventually died. And now, he didn't want to thread the same pathas his father's.
