The Alpha & Beta’s Regret – Chapter 106

Rafe POV

He and Jack were woken from sleep by a mind-link, his eyes flicked as he felt Jack’s body move from his as the man rolled onto his back, had been tucked into him, an arm draped across his chest. He half smiled at knowing he was right there. Liked that they were back to their seemingly normal state.

Their bond was fully back intact he thought, ‘They’re on the move.’ Was the voice that came down the mink-link to both he and Jack. He saw Jack sit up and put a hand on his bare chest. “Stay here,” Jack told him. “I’ll go.”

“Not a hope in hell of me staying here,” Rafe commented and got out of bed. He knew why Jack didn’t want Rafe going. Melissa could well be carrying a handful of those petals to throw at him. He would be prepared for it now, as Solar was, they would get out of the way very quickly.

Though a part of him didn’t believe those petals would work on him anymore, not with him knowing how he truly felt about Luci. He glanced at the clock, nearly three in the morning.

“Who’s watching them?” he asked, knowing Jack had organised something. Rafe had actually been exhausted and the moment his head hit the pillow after showering and dropping into Luci’s bed, he’d been out like a light.

“Titan, he wants a piece of them, so he was happy to be on watch.” Jack smiled at him “I got eyes everywhere.” He grinned, as they headed out.

Rafe had reminded all the roaming patrols and border patrols before going to bed, to be on the lookout for the Luna and her sister trying to escape punishment. He felt Jack connecting them both to Titan. ‘Where exactly? We’re on our way.’

‘Sneaking west towards the border, do you want me to confront them? I’d really bloody enjoy it, boss.’

Rafe did actually think the man would, seeing as what those two had done to him up there in Wolf Valley Pack, tried to have him killed, then when they couldn’t, bespelled him and fractured his memories. Poor bastard, he had to remember to ask West about getting Belinda to come here to help that man or take him home with him when they went back.

‘You got cuffs on you?’ Rafe asked.

‘Yes, I do, I was hoping they’d run for it, on my watch.’

‘Titan, that she-wolf…Don’t consider her your Luna anymore. She can’t order you at all from now on.’

‘Yes, Alpha.’ Titan’s voice came back, a happy note to it. He liked the idea of this, it seemed, and could get some payback of his own if she wasn’t considered his Luna.

‘Titan, hang on a sec, I have an idea. Jack, what say we play a game?’

‘The game would be?’

‘Let’s herd those two she-wolves right back to the packhouse, to the shaming posts.’ Rafe told them both. ‘They are actively trying to leave, even though they know the pack wants them punished. Let’s make sure they both get punished before they leave…let them think they’ve gotten away with it. Think we’re not going to retaliate against them. Their home pack is barely 200 and not well trained.’

‘Give them a few days to calm down and then stroll on in and extract revenge upon all that took Luci from us.’ Jack nodded ‘Lets.’

He heard Titan state ‘I want in on that boss, front and centre.’

Rafe smiled and opened a mind-link to all his elite warriors and any of them not already out on patrol or protecting Luci, Addi and the boys. Were pulled to him and Jack to hunt Melissa and Maria, who he informed were now trying to escape their punishment.

He heard several growls coming from many of them and he realised most of them lived within the packhouse itself, and that place had now been completely cleared of all aroma sachets. Going on 12 hours now, not having those within the packhouse had allowed their warriors to no longer feel connected to Melissa and Maria, it seemed. That was very interesting to him.

He was feeling a lot better, he realised, as he and Jack hunted along with Titan, and had no concerns over the thought of getting his hands on those two she-wolves. Thought about it and realised he actually didn’t care about Melissa at all anymore.

Wondered about their Mate Bond and realised that, just like Jack had stated, he didn’t feel like there was a bond to her at all, felt nothing but anger and disgust towards Melissa. Wanted to hurt the woman for all she’d done to him, to Jack, to Luci and the boys. To this entire pack.

He could feel all his warriors were out of the packhouse now, explained to them the plan, and everyone was off running and spreading out to encircle the two and cut off all their ways out of the woods. ‘Running south now.’ Titan told him. That man had actual eyes on them.

But he knew where those two were, he could feel it, had hold of both their tethers, and was now off at speed, as were the others to play a little game of hunt and capture. Heard a few minutes later that they had shifted to their wolves and were now running in wolfen form at speed, really trying to escape.

He told everyone to shift and corner those wolves, let them run all over the pack, never allowing them to stop or anyone to actually capture them. Bit by bit, they made them turn and run back towards the packhouse but made sure that everyone kept them away from the eastern side of the pack and where Luci was. He didn’t want either of them anywhere near Luci. They’d done enough damage to them, caused pain to Luci.

Two she-wolves verses an Alpha, his Alpha Unit, plus 20 elite warriors, they had no chance of getting out of this pack. Why they even bothered? They had to know it was highly unlikely they were getting out of here. Though he supposed they’d spoken to their father, and he’d relayed that traitor’s message to them and they now understood it was over and had to escape or were going to die.

An hour later, Melissa and Maria’s wolves were fleeing back towards the safety of their rooms in the packhouse. Likely a place they thought neither he nor Jack would go, seeing as what had happened to Rafe, loosing his memory and all.

He mind-linked to his head omega, ‘Sherry, please go to the Alpha and Beta suites, and clean up any and all aroma petals that may be left up there, old or new, dispose of them properly.’

‘Yes Alpha.’ She replied.

He and Jack had raced on ahead of the two she-wolves, were shifted and had pants on, and were waiting for them to arrive. Stood by the front doors so they couldn’t pass. He saw both their wolves skid to a complete stop and stare at them.

“What did you think would happen!” he stated, “when I got my memory back and found out what you did to us?”

He got snarled at by both their wolves and watched as Rella took a full step forward towards him, looked like she was willing to fight him. He saw the rest of his elite warriors starting to form up behind and around them, “Really, you want to take me on, fight me?” he shook his head.

Watched as Rella took another step towards him, all her teeth bared, and he wondered if she thought he wouldn’t, if what she’d done to him and Solar 24 hours ago was still working on him on some level. Saw Allen’s wolf, Cosmos step right in front of him to stop the fight that was coming.

He didn’t doubt he could win a fight with her, it was likely his whole unit were thinking that Melissa and Rella thought they could get another hold on him if they touched him. This was the reason for stepping in between them.

Rella and Melissa alike knew what would happen if she actively attacked Cosmos; they would be obliterated into a bloodied red mist, just like anyone else attacking the pack Gamma. He watched on as Rella backed up a step, “You can’t get away, give it up.”

Saw her wolf turn and look around her, realised they were fully surrounded and she snarled at everyone, in her unhappiness.

“Shift and confront me.” He stated, “or I’ll force you both to shift back.”

‘You can’t make me.’ Melissa’s voice came down the mind-link angrily.

“I can actually. You were initiated into this pack. I am your Alpha.” He told her with full authority.

He did not believe they were actual Mates now. It was very unlikely that he had Marked and Mated the girl, couldn’t have done, if there were no pains of betrayal. There was no real bond at all. He was curious about that, how that mark on both he and Jack was made.

The ones on them were made, in fact. Had to be some sort of magic, he supposed. But those two had been initiated into his pack by him, so he was their Alpha. That much he understood, and he could order them at will. They’d have no choice but to bow down to him.

He gave them both a full 30 seconds, and then when neither of them attempted to shift, both were still just standing there, likely talking to each other and trying to decide on what to do. He and Solar snarled all Alpha at them both “Shift.” Flooding his aura down upon their wolves and watched as the two were forcibly shifted back to stand before him.

“Clothes,” Melissa demanded of him.

“Why?” he asked “You’re about to be shamed, so being naked will just add to that. It will make for a better punishment.”

“I’m the Luna of this pack.” She lifted her chin defiantly. “No one inside this pack will allow harm to come to me.” She stated firmly, sounded like she really believed that, like another part of that spell, he thought to himself. “The pack loves me.”

“Really?” he snorted “The Luna to this pack? I don’t think that you act very Lunaly, at all. Poisoned your own Alpha, with what and for how long? I’m curious, and I will be replaceing out how you made me loose my memories as well.”

She was glaring up at him now. “You won’t hurt me, I’m your Mate.” She shot at him. “Hurting me, will only hurt yourself.”

“Really?’ he smiled right at her now “I don’t think so. Jack, did you feel anything when Maria humped the hell out of Titan, or kissed him while they were away?”

“No. Nothing at all,” Jack stated calmly.

He watched as Maria’s eyes went wide. “Yes, Jack asked Titan to do that, to see if he would feel the pain of betrayal. Did you Jack?

“No.” Jack stated once more, “Just like neither of them felt it when you and I kissed.”

Melissa snarled instantly “You betrayed me. I knew it.” she roared, turning to the warriors “Your Alpha betrayed me, your Luna. The Beta betrayed my sister with that b***h of a concubine. They’re the ones in the wrong, attack them. Protect us.”

“We did not,” Rafe stated calmly. Though he noticed not one of his warriors moved like she expected them to. Was trying to make them. “Jack and I kissed each other.”

He saw her eyes go wide now and he heard many of his warriors just chuckle at hearing he’d kissed their Beta, likely not a big deal for any of them. Likely knew it was coming, having one Mate between them could well see them l*p locked or more, he didn’t know, but would be replaceing out, it was just a matter of time now.

He had no aversion to kissing Jack at all, and Jack himself had just kissed him back. Flare hadn’t reacted as far as he knew. Both wolves, from his understanding, had simply lifted their heads and snorted, with what he and Jack each thought was amusement and that had been it.

“You can’t make my own pack attack me, not when I don’t believe you are actually my Mate.” He stated out loud for all to hear.

“We are Marked and Mated, we are Mates.” She told him, waved a hand at her neck, to the mark there, though she sounded cold and uncaring about it.

“I no longer believe that.” He stated just as coldly as she did, “Jack, do you believe Maria is your Mate?”

“No. That is why I sent Titan to Wolf Valley Pack, to watch them, see what they did out there. If Titan came back under a Luna’s order not to talk about what he saw.”

Both Melissa and Maria were glaring at Jack now, finally understood what was going on, he’d already figured it out and that was why something was blocking the Beta.

“Which he did. Thankfully, Alpha Addison was willing to go rogue so that Titan could speak freely to her about what went on, what he saw, what you did to him.”

“I’d like all my memories back.” He heard Titan grate out angrily.

“Yes, so would we.” Rafe stated, “Lucky for us, we are affiliated with the Royals, and they have seers for just this kind of thing.”

He saw Melissa’s eyes shoot to his. Yes, she knew what they could do. “No king, would send a seer for this.”

“Hm, Jack. Alpha Terence, what’s his real title?”

Heard the clear smile in Jacks voice when he spoke “Prince Terence, born I believe to the youngest Royal, Princess Belinda, sister of King Christian himself.”

“That is my understanding.” Rafe nodded “Jack, do you think those, whatever they are, let’s call them bespelled aroma sachets throughout the packhouse, would be considered a magical threat to one of the royal family members, seeing as he’s here inside this pack currently.”

“Yes, I do believe any kind of threat, no matter how small, would grant us a seer.”

He was watching Melissa and Maria now, saw Maria clutching at her sister, and he saw both their eyes glaze over, were once again talking to each other. He moved his eyes to Titan and waved the man over to cuff them.

Saw that man smile and all his wolves converge on the two, stood by and watched on, as did his unit, as those two she-wolves tried to fight his warriors off, yelling about being the Luna and Beta’s mate, not to touch them. None listened, it took all of 30 seconds for them to be cuffed with silver. Forcing their wolves away from them.

Rafe strolled right over to his so-called mate, “You and I.” he grated out at her “Are over. I reject you as my Mate and Luna.” He grabbed her arm and hauled her off to the shaming post. Which stood to her left, Ian was already standing there holding open the iron ring on the top of the post. He put the chain of her cuffs through it and Ian snapped it shut and it locked into place.

Jack hauled Maria over to another shaming post, and she was locked into one herself. He heard Jack grate out “I don’t believe you are my Mate, but just in case there is a bond of any kind between us. I reject you, Maria, as my Mate.”

Neither he nor Jack felt any pain, no severing from either of the two she-wolves and neither did they. Neither of them said anything, didn’t accept their rejection and he knew why it was not needed. This only confirmed to him and Jack, to everyone here standing on watching. There was no bond at all between them. Not the Alpha and Luna, not the Beta and his Mate. He and Jack had been tricked into it. These two had used some sort of magic upon them and continued to do so all those years, to make them think they were Mates.
