Chapter 22

SMITH POV

I just couldn't sleep at night. I was scared as I thought of what the alpha's decision will be. I know he will definitely accept Maria. I mean who won't. She's so lovely and beautiful so I'm sure that she will be accepted. But I couldn't help but feel nervous. "Don't be a p***y and man up. You have to be e strong for our beautiful maria." Chase my wolf said. "Can't you see I'm trying my very possible best? Don't lecture me on what to do and what not to do." I said to him.

He left when he noticed that I wasn't in the mood at all. I kept sitting down in the place where I was looking at the wall like it was the most amazing thing I have seen.

Rosie came and joined me shortly after that. Having a little conversation with her was relaxing. I don't know what I would have done without her. Talking to Rosie was really calming for real. I wonder how she did it like I don't know how she did it but while I was talking to her, I felt so calm inside of me.

But I couldn't get the thought after my head when she looked sad when she was taking about how I shouldn't reject Maria because she was weak. I think there was more to that because she wasn't happy when she said that. It was like she was either sad or angry. It was so suspicious. She almost sounded like someone who has been rejected before. If I didn't know better, I would have thought she was talking about herself.

I couldn't help but notice also that she was uncomfortable when she heard Evans name. It was like she was scared of him. Well not like I will blame her at all. Truth be told he wasn't so nice to her so she has every right to be scared of him. But then I was confused and surprised when she cursed him after I told her what Evans said.

She must really hate him so much for her to act this way. Well you can say she is scare of him and hated him.

I did my best as I was trying to comfort her. But I got confused when she began to cry. I began to wonder whether I said something offensive.

"Hey Rosie what's wrong? Why are you crying?" I asked her.

"Don't mind me. I'm sorry for crying it's just that your words touched my heart. You sure are a true mate who every girl out there will desire to have. Maria is lucky to have you." She said trying to fool me by acting so strong. "Are you sure you're okay?" I asked her again.

"I'm fine don't worry." she insisted.

I wanted to say something when we heard someone sniffing. I looked around only to see my beautiful mate looking so dashing.

"Hey Maria good morning. Hope you slept well?" Rosie said to her.

I watched as my beautiful mate nodded her head to answer my question. I can't believe I blurted out about my feelings to Rosie and Maria was hearing it. Like I just had to be shy. I didn't notice or even sense her eavesdropping. I didn't hear anything that Rosie was saying as my eyes were glued on the beauty who was standing in front of me.

I noticed her shake her head. I didn't get why she did that. Then I heard a beautiful sound coming from her stomach. Even the sound of her stomach growling sounds so pleasant to my ear.

'Smith what's wrong with you? You are so whipped. Get a grip of yourself. I thought to myself.

But I couldn't get a grip of my self. Her red face melted my heart. She looked cute as she was looking so embarrassed.

I heard Rosie laugh and told her to follow her to the kitchen. I didn't know why I couldn't just open my mouth to say a word to her. I was just staring at her like an idiot.

I watched as she followed Rosie to the kitchen but before they entered, she stopped.

I quickly rushed to her wondering maybe something happened to her.

"Hey are you okay?" I was surprised to hear how gentle my voice sounded.

I watched her turned to me. Looking at me right into my eyes. Her gaze made my legs feel weak but I had to stand strong. I'm a man after all not a lady.

I apologize for being rude yesterday and also eavesdropping your conversation. Also thank you for the kind words which you said." she said to me before she entered the kitchen.

I can't believe it. I just couldn't believe it. My mate talked to me. It was a miracle. I think Rosie was right. I couldn't stop myself from smiling.

I stayed in the living room feeling so restless because my mate talked to me. I didn't know how long I sat there. I stood up to leave when I heard them talking about me.

"So his name is Smith? The guy in the living room?" the voice of my mate melted my soul. The way my name sounded just as she called it was so refreshing.

"Yes that's his name. And do you know who he is to you?" I heard Rosie answer. I couldn't move as I stood there just listening. I know it's wrong to eavesdrop but I couldn't help it. I wanted to hear what my mate thought about me. "He said I was his mate earlier although I don't believe him." I heard her say.

'Why doesn't she believe me? I mean why would she not believe me.' I thought feeling so bothered.

"Wait why? Didn't you feel your wolf calling for him? Or didn't you feel the sparks when he touched you yesterday?" I heard Rosie asked her.

"I felt the sparks but my wolf is so weak and she isn't responding. Besides I was told I would never replace a mate."

Who the fuck said such a think to her. I will rip them apart. I felt my blood boil. Chase was also angry too. He was ready for whoever the bastard was. He wanted the person's blood.

"What? Who told you that?" I barge in feeling very angry. I needed the person's name badly.

I noticed that because of my careless behavior, I caused my mate to jump and I stood there as I watch my mate run to Rosie as she hid behind her.

What have I done? Why do I have to be so impatient.

Rosie raised her head to look at me she didn't look happy.

"Not now Smith, you are scaring her can't you see." she said warning me.

I looked behind to Rosie. I tried to get a glimpse of her face but got nothing. I closed my eyes and began to steady my breath so I could calm down. It began to work. Also with help of my mate scent that was on the air, I was able to calm down quickly. "Hey I'm sorry. I didn't mean to scare you like that. Just that I couldn't control myself when I heard what you just said." I apologized to her.

I waited for her to say something but nothing. I was about getting disappointed when I saw her peak her head to look at me.

"It's fine." she said before hiding back.

"Smith out of the kitchen. We are trying to cook here. Don't enter the kitchen again."

Rosie said.

Well I guess I have to let her and my beautiful mate have some fun. My presence won't let her have so much fun

"Alright fine. I'm sorry once again." I apologized to Maria. Before I left the kitchen.

I return when it was time to eat. Eating with Maria on the same table was fantastic. As usual my eyes were only fixed on her as every little detail of her amused me. Damnit I'm so whipped. The way she chewed her food was so I can't explain the word. I'm lost of words just looking at her.

I felt Nate hit my leg from under the table but I didn't look at him. His the least of my problems right now.

"Can you just did eat your food let's get ready to see the alpha or your going to keep staring at her like that?" I heard his voice in my mind. He had to mind link me. Seriously?

"Can you get out of my mind? Can't you see I'm busy right now?" I asked him feeling annoyed but immediately my eyes looked at my beautiful mate, I forgot I was angry for a moment.

"Just eat something and stop looking at her. Your going to make her feel uncomfortable." he said before leaving my mind.

I rolled my eyes internally. Such a kill joy. He just had to ruin everything.

But like I was ready to listen to him. I continued looking at my mate.

After eating we move to head to the alpha's house.

As I sat down and I listened to Maria speak. And wow this is the longest she has spoken.

I was so surprised when I heard her say she was a gamma's daughter who belonged from a pack. It was great to hear it although I wasn't happy with her kidnappers. I just wanted to catch them and snap their necks for harming my beautiful mate. She is indeed a strong and smart person. Her escape story really touched me. She was so young to experience all those treatment from those bastards. I can't wait to lay my hands on them. I won't let them get away from what they did.

"So my last question and we are done. Do you want to join our pack and are you ready to accept Smith here as your mate?" I heard Alpha Bryan asked.

I felt nervous hoping that she will agree to accept me as her mate.

"I would love to join this pack because I have no one to go to if I am to go back home. And I don't know anything about mates. I'm still not used to having people around especially the male gender because of the bad experience I had with them. But I will try to be a mate to him." she said as her eyes were fixed on me. I couldn't stop my self from smiling. I could see hope between the two of us..
