Chapter 29: Feeling betrayed

Rogue Alpha Ryan POV

I threw my glass of whiskey against the wall and it shattered to pieces. I was was angry I could see red.

Two of my warriors stood in front of me shaking in fear.

“What do you mean they are all dead?” I asked my voice seething with anger.

“They all had fatal stab wounds Alpha.” One of the warriors said with a shaky voice.

“What about Isabella?” I asked.

“There were no signs of her.” The other warrior answered with the same shaky voice.

“So your telling me I lost eight men and I still don’t have Isabella?” I asked already knowing the answer but can’t wrap my head around how this is even possible.

“Yes, Alpha.” They replied in unison.

“Leave!” I yelled and they practically ran from my office shutting the door behind them.

How the f**k is this possible? Who killed my men? Did she have help? Where is that little she-wolf? So many questions running through my head.

I won’t give up, she is mine and I won’t stop until I get her. Maybe I need to think of a different approach, what if I took someone she loved? She maybe just come knocking at my door. I thought while rubbing my chin with my fingers.

Isabella POV

I woke up feeling sore all over, like I was run over by a bus. I had a killer heading and my brain was still foggy.

‘Hey Bri, you alright.’ I asked my wolf.

‘Ya I am. What happened?’ Bri asked and I heard her yawn like she was just waking up.

I told her everything and she was shocked. She said she was still groggy from the wolfbane so she went back to sleep at the back of my mind.

I guess it’s time I confront my brother. I’m surprised he’s left me alone this long.

I got out of bed and hoped in the shower. The warmth of the water caressing my body really helped sooth my aches.

Once I was done I got out and dried myself off, I wrapped a towel around my body and walked out into my room.

I jumped in shock when I saw Alpha Drake sitting on my bed waiting for me. He looked livid. His eyes looked so intense they were almost piercing through me. I didn’t know what to say, so I just stood frozen. I was actually a little nervous for the first time. What is he going to do with me now?

I watched Alpha Drake stand from the bed and stalk towards me in a slow predatorily manner. His eyes never leaving mine. I took a step back each step he took towards me until I hit the wall and there was no where for me to go.

He caged me in placing his hands against the wall on each side of my head. His face was only inches from mine and he was still just staring. Say something already, I thought.

“I’m sor- -“ I tried to apologize before he cut me off.

“Are you crazy? Do you have a death wish?” He asked, anger lacing his words.

“I told you I needed to get revenge and I did.” I replied with as much confidence as I could muster. Truth be told, I wasn’t as confident as I usually was at the moment.

“Do you know what could of happened to you?” He asked.

“Are you talking about being kidnapped by the rogue Alpha’s?” asked crossing my arms over my chest and paused for a second before finishing. “Were you ever going to tell me that I was what the rogues were after?” I asked now with my own angry tone. Alpha Drakes face looked surprised and I could see the regret in his eyes.

“We did it to protect y- -“ he started to say before I interrupted him.

“Bullshit! I don’t want to hear it. Get out of my room, I want to get dressed.” I practically barked at him. The hurt look in his eyes was breaking my heart. Why do I care? He’s the one who kept vital information from me. Why does it bother me so much that he’s upset?

He didn’t move and just stared at me for a minute. He had so many emotions in his eyes, regret, hurt, anger, desire. I didn’t understand why he cared so much, it doesn’t make sense to me.

“I’ll be in your brothers officer waiting, you have ten minutes to get your a*s down there or I’ll come and get you myself.” He said while glaring at me.

“Fine.” I replied. He took one more look at my face before he turned and walked towards the door.

“Oh and Isabella, don’t think you won’t be punished for your defiance.” He said shooting me his signature pointed look over his shoulder before he walk out of the room and shut the door. Heat flooded to my core and was that excitement I felt at the thought of him punishing me? Gosh, pull it together, your mad at him remember.

I got dressed in a pair of skinny jeans and a purple tank top. I let my hair loose to dry naturally and slipped on my my white runners before leaving my room.

Once I got to my brothers officer I could hear whispering inside. I couldn’t make out what they were talking about but it sure pissed me off, so instead of knocking I walked right in. Declan was seated in his chair and Alpha Drake was seated in front of him. They both stopped whispering and looked at me.

“Oh please, don’t stop whispering on my account.” I said while crossing my arms and furrowing my eyebrows.

“Sit down Isabella.” Declan ordered.

“No I think I would prefer to stand.” I replied defiantly. My brother shook his head with disapproval but didn’t push me further.

“What did they tell you?” My brother asked.

“No, why don’t you tell me what I should already know, no bullshit or I swear to the goddess I will leave this territory and never look back.” I spat back. Declan lowered his head in defeat.

“Isabella sit down and I’ll tell you everything.” He said and instead of arguing this time I complied and sat next to Alpha Drake. Just hoping to get answers.

“Dad kept a secret from us till the day he died. Mom was the royal princess and way back when the kingdom was destroyed and everyone was killed, she was the only survivor but no one knew that except for dad, or so he thought.” He told me and I was shocked. How could they have kept this from me? I felt so betrayed why would my father keep that from me?

“After Derek stabbed father, he bragged to him about how the rogue Alpha knew his secret all along and that all the attacks were specifically orchestrated to kidnap you..” he said but paused for a second watching my reaction. “He wants you as his mate, Isabella.” He said with concern in his voice.

“Why would you keep this from me?” I said completely overwhelmed and unsure how I felt anymore.

“Alpha Drake and I both worried that if you knew the truth, you wouldn’t hesitate to sacrifice yourself to prevent anyone else from dying.” He said with so much sadness in his voice.

“That’s my choice!” I spat while I stood from seat and started to pace the office floor.

“I love you Isabella, I can’t lose you to.” Declan said with a strained voice.

“So does this have anything to do with why I’ve been locked in a room this past week?” I questioned while glaring at Alpha Drake. He watched me with his eyebrows furrowed for a minute before he answered.

“Yes, your father made me promise before he died that I would protect you and keep you safe.”He said without breaking eye contact. I shook my head in disbelief.

“You both betrayed me. I need to be alone.” I said, when Alpha Drake stood to protest I shot my hand out stopping him.

“No, I don’t want to hear anymore.” I shook my head before I stormed out of the office and headed back to my room.

Do they seriously think I would be ok with all of this, being left in the dark? Treated like a weak she-wolf who needs to be protected? The rage flowing through my veins was almost to much.

‘Let’s go for a run.’ Bri suggested.

‘Ya, that’s a great idea, I feel suffocated, I need out.’ I replied and headed straight for the front doors of the pack house instead of my room.

Once I reach the tree line I quickly stripped out of my clothes and shifted to my wolf. Bri was excited to be let loose, I don’t blame her after being knocked out by wolfbane, she needs a good stretch. I let her have full control and she took off like a bat out of hell.

We ran for hours, neither one of us ready to go back and face reality. We laid next to a lake and enjoyed the beautiful picturesque scenery, the air was fresh and the birds were chirping, it helped me clear my mind and just enjoy the simple life, even if it’s only for a few minutes.

‘They are going to start worrying that we aren’t back yet, we should head back’ I said to Bri with a huff. She huffed back clearly agreeing but not wanting to go.

‘Ya I guess so.’ She replied before getting on all fours and running back towards where we came from.

Once i reached my clothes, I shifted back to my human form and got dressed.

I walked back towards the pack house and found Alpha Drake, Declan, Jet and several warriors standing out front.

Alpha Drake spotted me and we locked eyes. If looks could kill I would be dead.

“Where the hell have you been? We were about to send a search party.” He asked with so much anger in his voice.

“I went for a damn run, back off.” I spat back.

When I got closer I could see his eyes were black, his wolf was taking control.

Declan stepped between us trying to calm things down.

“You should of told someone Isabella, we were worried that’s all.” Declan said.

“I’m not a damn kid, stop treating me like one.” I replied.

“Start acting like an adult and maybe we will.” Alpha Drake spat back. I was fuming now, matching his own rage.

“f**k you! Why do you even care about what happens to me?” I yelled at him and he seemed lost for words. Like he didn’t know how to answer my question.

“Exactly what I thought, you don’t have a reason except for needing control.” I said to him before storming past all of them and headed for my room.

I’ve had enough of this emotional roller coaster for the day. I just want to be alone.
