Chapter 43: Leave me alone

Alpha Drake POV

I couldn’t calm down, I was pacing around my office when there was a knock at the door. Hope flooded through me at the thought that maybe it was Isabella.

I ran to open it and was disappointed to see that it was only Erik. I hoped maybe he had some information about her for me.

“Come in.” I said while going behind my desk and sitting in my chair. Erik followed me in and sat in the chair across from me.

“What the hell happened?” Erik asked me with a short tone.

I told him everything that happened. Erik let out a heavy sigh when I was done and rubbed his hands over his face.

“Man, that’s not good.” He said, while shaking his head.

“I know. Things were already rocky between us and then this happened.” I replied letting out my own frustrated sigh.

“She thinks you setup the scenario to get back at her. That you wanted to hurt her.” Erik said with a serious tone.

“ I can see how she would think that, specially after the past couple of days. What do I do? How to I fix this?” I asked with desperation in my voice.

“I think you need to give her space. She’s pissed off right now. Trust me I know, she slapped me pretty good, thanks to you.” Erik said with a huff and my eyes went wide in shock.

“She slapped you?” I questioned with wide eyes. Erik just nodded a, yes.

“I have to try and talked to her, if I don’t she’s just going to think that I don’t care.” I said while deep in thought.

“Ya that’s true, well she’s on patrol tonight with Jared and I so maybe try and talk to her before and if she doesn’t want to talk, don’t push her. We can keep an eye on her tonight and you can try again in the morning.” Erik suggested and I agreed. I think it’s my safest option.

Her patrol shift starts in an hour so I decided to go up to my room and check to see if she had come back yet.

I got to my room and walked in, I immediately noticed that all her belongs were gone and I started to panic. Her scent was lingering, so I must of just missed her.

I went and checked her old bedroom and her scent got stronger, I knew she was inside, that made me feel a bit better knowing she was still here.

I knocked at the door and she didn’t answer. I tried again but still no answer.

“Isabella, I know your in there, I really need to talk with you, please open the door.” I practically begged through the door, but she didn’t answer.

I decided to wait outside of her door knowing she would be coming out within the next thirty minute to head for her patrol shift.

After about twenty minutes, I heard motion from behind the door and watched as the door opened. Isabella came out and completely ignored my existence. She shut the door behind her and turned to walk down the hall without even glancing my way.

I grabbed her arm and spun her around so she would be facing me.

“Isabella, I need to to talk to you, it wasn’t what it seem- – “ I was trying to explain myself before she interrupted me.

“No Alpha, I don’t need an explanation. Your not my mate, who you sleep with is your business.” She said coldly.

“It wasn’t what it looked like. She came – – -“ I again tried to explain myself but she cut me off.

“Stop Alpha, I don’t want to hear it. You win. I’m done being at your beckon call, if you want to keep punishing me, send me to the dungeon, I don’t want to be anywhere near you.” She spat at me.

“Isabella your punishment is done. Your not going to the dungeon, I just want to explain myse- -“ I tried talking, but she cut me off again.

“I said enough, I don’t want to hear it. I need to go.” She said angrily while glaring at my hand that was still holding her arm.

I let go of her arm and she turned and walked away. I watched as she disappeared down the stairs before I went back into my room and let out a frustrated sigh.

Oh goddess, how do I fix this.

Isabella POV

After Erik left me by the lake I stayed a bit longer trying to sort through all my emotions.

I had a patrol shift tonight and would have to change my clothes, so I decided to head back to Alpha Drakes room in hopes that he wasn’t there.

When I got to the room I opened the door and was happy to replace it empty.

Bri growled in my head when the faint lingering scent of Jill’s arousal hit my nose. I was instantly flooded with anger and jealousy.

I quickly gathered all my belongings and moved them back to my old room.

I was laying on my bed when I couldn’t hold it in anymore, tears started rolling down my cheeks. I felt heart broken and it angered me that I had been so stupid to let myself have feelings for him. I deep in thought when I was interrupted by a knock at the door. I knew it was Alpha Drake when his strong scent hit my nose.

I didn’t answer. I knew he was standing outside the door while I was getting ready, his scent never faded.

Once it was time to go, I took a deep breath before opening the door.

He stood there while I closed the door behind me and tried to leave. He grabbed my arm and spun me around forcing me to look at him.

He tried to explain himself, but I didn’t want to hear it. He doesn’t owe me an explanation and to be completely honest his scent was suffocating me. I needed to be away from him.

When I told him I wanted to go, he let go of my arm and let me walk away. I didn’t miss the look of desperation in his eyes before I turned away from him.

I really just wanted to be alone. At least when I’m on patrol tonight I won’t be able to communicate with anyone while in my wolf form, so it will be like I’m alone even though Jared and Erik will be at my side.

I made my way to the gates and found that Jared and Erik were already there waiting.

Erik watched me with concern and sadness in his eyes while Jared smiled at me, clearly unaware of what happened.

“Glad to see your still alive after that coffee stunt.” Jared said jokingly. I didn’t reply I just made my way to a tree and shifted into my wolf form. I wasn’t in the mood to talk.

I came back out from behind the tree and found Jared and Erik had shifted as well.

We took off towards the border and started walking it.

Bri was whining in my head, she felt betrayed and sad, but still wanted to go back to Alpha Drake and hear him out. I on the other hand did not.

After a couple of hours of walking the border it had gotten dark out. The only light was the almost full moon in the sky.

Jared and Erik had stopped ahead of me and both seemed to be looking in the same direction, towards a thick bushy area.

That’s when it hit my nose, I smelt rogues! It was strong, they were close.

I was still walking up to Jared and Erik when I saw a flash to my right, I turned and saw a rogue running away but further onto our territory.

I looked back, but Jared and Erik where still focus on the bush in front of them. I was really irritated at that moment that I couldn’t communicate with them.

I didn’t want to lose the rogue specially since he was heading towards town, so I decided to chase after him and left Jared and Erik behind.

I sprinted in the direction I saw him and came to a stop in a clearing. I started sniffing the area for his scent when I heard a growl behind me.

I turned around and there was a large rogue standing there. He was one of those feral rogues, the ones that spent the majority of their lives in wolf form. They rarely shift into their human form they prefer to live like animals. I can tell by how matted his fur is with dried b***d and dirt. He smells extra potent.

I watched as he approached me slowly. I let out a low warming growl. He started to circle me, I never took my eyes off him and circled with him.

I was waiting for him to make the first move and it didn’t take long before he lunged at me. I moved out of the way just in time. He was faster then I expected, before I could turn around and face him, he rammed into me and knocked me down.

I felt his teeth puncture my abdomen and he tore a chunk of my skin right off. I let out a loud yelp of pain.

He tried to latch his canines into my neck, but I knocked him off, before he could get up I jumped on his back and sunk my teeth into his neck. I bit down hard, but not hard enough to kill him. No, I want this fucker alive.

I held him down by the neck, he struggled for a while to get free but eventually went limp bellow me. I didn’t let go until his injury was serious enough to force shift, into his human form. I let go of his neck and he hit the ground completely unconscious.

He looked to be in his 40’s, he was tall with a muscular build and brown shoulder length hair.

As I stood assessing the rogue I heard someone approaching me from behind, I spun around quickly and came face to face with a large black wolf.

I knew immediately that it was Alpha Drake. Bri let out a warning growl. I mean she’s pretty pissed off him to.

I watched as Devon stalked towards me, he started to circle me and he let out a whimper when he saw the injury. He tried to lick me, but I turned away from him.

I saw two more wolves come out of the trees and knew it was Erik and Jared. I hadn’t seen Alpha Drake shift into his human form since my back was to him.

“Isabella your injured.” Alpha Drake said with a soft voice as he approached me, I growled at him and he stopped in his tracks.

“Go back to the pack house, I’ll have a doctor meet you in your room.” He said with a stern voice.

I noticed that Erik and Jared had shifted to their human form and both had shorts on.

“Erik, Jared, restrain him and bring him to the dungeon.” Alpha Drake ordered while looking at the unconscious rogue with so much disgust in his eyes.

“Yes, boss.” They both answered in unison.

I turned to walk away.

“Isabella, I mean it, straight to your room, I’ll be up when I’ve debrief the warriors who are coming to replace you on patrol.” He said sternly.

I turned around and made my way back to where I had stashed my clothes. Once I was dressed I walked toward the pack house.

I’ve had enough for one day, I’m exhausted, I just want to take a long hot shower and sleep.
