The Alpha’s Feisty Mate
Chapter 50: She’s gone

Isabella POV

After the morning training session and my confrontation with Alpha Drake, I was furious. That man certainly knows how to push my buttons.

I walked back to my room and laid down in bed trying to calm my nerves. My birthday is tomorrow. I wonder if my mate is part of this pack. I sure hope not, because as soon as I take care of the Rogue Alpha, I’m going back to my old pack. I miss my brother and everyone else there.

I looked over at the clock and saw that it was 2:00pm training starts at 3:00pm, so I figured I would get ready now and go replace Clair so we could go over todays training schedule.

I got dressed in a pair of spandex shorts and a navy blue tank top. I tied my hair up in a loose bun and left the room.

I made my way to Clair’s bedroom and knocked. After a minute and no one answered, I knocked again. Still no answer.

Maybe she went to the training field already, I thought to myself, as I started to walk down the stairs towards the front doors.

I left the pack house and made it to the training field, but Clair wasn’t there.

Hmm, I wonder where she is, I asked myself, as I started to lay out the mats for training.

I looked at my watch and saw that it was now 2:40 and she still wasn’t here. I started getting worried. Clair was just as excited about this job as I was and yesterday she showed up extra early to help get everything ready. I know Clair well, she’s like my sister, this is out of character.

Some of the teens started to arrive at the training field and were just chatting amongst each other. I decided to run back to the pack house quickly to see if I could replace her, or even Jared.

As I was walking in through the main doors of the pack house, I ran into Erik.

“Hey have you seen Clair or Jared?” I asked.

“I haven’t seen Clair, but Jared was with me up until fifteen minutes ago. He went back to his room after the meeting.” Erik replied.

“Oh, ok, I’ll go check in their room.” I said while frowning.

“Why what’s up? You look serious.” Erik asked.

“Well, Clair didn’t show up early, to help me setup for the teen training, it’s out of character. I just came to see if I could replace her, you know, since I can’t mind-link.” I told Erik.

“ Oh, let me try.” Erik said before his eyes glazed over telling me he was trying to mind-link someone.

A minute later. “She didn’t reply to my mind-link” Erik said, while frowning.

“Let me try Jared.” He said before his eyes glazed over again.

“She’s not in their room and Jared hasn’t heard from her. She hasn’t answered his attempts to mind-link her either.” Erik said and now looked concerned.

“Where could she be? I hope nothing happened to her.” I said while panic started setting in, at the thought of what might of happened to her.

“Jared is on his way to meet us. I’ll have a warrior replace you for the teen training today, at least until we replace her. I’ll also mind-link all the warriors and the day patrol and see if they saw her.” Erik said and his eyes glazed over.

A minute later I saw Jared running down the stairs towards us looking panicked.

“Has anyone heard from her?” Jared asked me, while trying to catch his breath.

“No nothing yet, Erik is mind-linking all the warriors and the day patrol shift, to see if anyone has heard from her or noticed anything suspicious this afternoon.” I told Jared, trying to stay calm for his benefit. I could see the panic in his face.

“Something happened. I can feel it in the bond. Usually, I can sense her emotions, now I’m getting nothing, like she’s asleep or something, but she’s not in our room, so it doesn’t make sense.” Jared said, while pacing the floor nervously and running his fingers through his hair.

“I just heard back from the last warrior. No one has seen her and nothing suspicious was reported.” Erik said, while frowning.

“Let’s go tell Alpha Drake, after that we can search the entire territory for her.” I said while squeezing Jared shoulder reassuringly, before we all heading towards the Alpha’s office.

We got to the office and I knocked.

“Come in” I heard before opening the door.

Alpha Drake was seated behind his desk looking over documents, before he lifted his eyes to meet ours.

“Aren’t you suppose to be training the teens.” Alpha Drake asked, while frowning.

“Clair’s missing, she never showed up for training and she’s not answering anyones mind-link’s.” I blurted out anxiously.

“What?” Alpha said, while abruptly standing and looking concerned.

“It’s true, I can’t sense her emotions through the bond either.” Jared added.

“Erik, have all the warriors that aren’t on patrol meet us out front of the pack house. Let’s search the territory first see if she’s still here.” Alpha Drake ordered, while he looking deep in thought.

“I’m on it boss.” Erik replied before leaving the office.

“When did you last see her.” Alpha Drake asked both Jared and I.

“I saw her right before the meeting, so 12:50pm. Goddess, I hope nothing bad happened to her.” Jared said, looking like he was loosing control of his emotions.

“I haven’t seen her, since training this morning.” I replied.

“We will replace her, let’s go meet the warriors outside. We can help with the search, it will get done faster.” Alpha Drake said while walking around his desk and heading for the door.

Jared and I followed behind him.

Once we got outside, we saw several warriors approaching from different directions. Once everyone was gathered, Alpha Drake spoke up.

“Clair, my Beta, Jared’s mate, is missing. She isn’t responding to any mind-links and hasn’t been seen since 1:00pm” he announced to the group, I heard some warriors gasp and other started whispering to each other.

“Break off into pairs, come and see me when you have a partner and I’ll assign you a search quadrant.” Alpha Drake continued to announce.

I watched as the warriors did as they were told. Alpha Drake had a map rolled out and circled areas as he assigned the warriors their search locations.

Everyone had walked off in different directions to start the search.

“Isabella, Jared and Erik, search the entire pack house. I’m going to my office to start calling the other local pack Alpha’s, maybe they can help, or at least I can make them aware of her disappears and ask for them to contact me if she shows up on their territory.” Alpha Drake said to us while frowning. We all nodded our acknowledgement before we broke off inside the pack house searching for Clair.

Jared POV

I had a bad feeling that something happened to Clair, I should be feeling her emotions. Where could she be? Was she taken?

My wolf and I were starting to lose control. Panic and concern were taking over. I need to replace her, she’s my whole life, I don’t know if I could survive with out her.

I’ve only known the women for a few weeks, but she means everything to me. I had been waiting to replace her, since I was a kid and learned for the first time about mates and the bond. She’s the other half of my soul she’s the breath that keeps me alive.

I started to search the main floor, going into ever room and searching every square inch for Clair, but I found nothing.

I headed back to our room to see if maybe I missed something, a clue that could help me replace her, but there was nothing. The room was in the exact condition it was in when I left her, this afternoon.

I made my way towards the front doors of the pack house and came across Erik and Isabella.

“You guys replace anything useful?” I asked, hopeful.

“No, nothing.” Isabella said, sounding disappointed.

I watched as warriors returned form their search and headed towards the Alpha’s office to report back. I decided to head there as well, incase anyone found anything useful.

When I reach the office, the door was open. Alpha Drake was standing beside his desk looking down at the territory map, while a couple warriors were standing near him. I heard them say, that they hadn’t found anything out of place in their search quadrant.

Alpha Drake used a marker to mark an X over the area that they had been assigned.

Once the warriors had left the office and I was alone with Alpha Drake, I asked.

“Anything?”

“Nothing yet, but there are still two groups that haven’t reported back.” Alpha Drake said while sounded frustrated.

“We have to replace her, I can’t live with out her.” I pleaded.

“We will Jared, I’ll do everything in my power to bring her home.” Alpha Drake said with determination.

I know he means it. He’s my best friend, he’s like my brother. I know it’s hard for him to see me upset and vulnerable. I truly believe he will help me replace her.

“Alpha!” I heard a warrior announce and I turned to see two warriors entering the office out of breath. My full attention was on them and what information they had to report. Please have something that will help me replace Clair, I thought to myself.

“We found this, by a bench in the garden.” One of the warriors said while holding up a syringe. My eyes went wide as I grabbed it from his hands.

“It’s wolfbane, I can smell it.” I announced and looked at Alpha Drake concerned.

Panic started to grow inside of me, who did this? Who took her? Why? Please, keep her safe Goddess, I silently prayed.

“Someone took her.” I Alpha Drake said while looking both concerned and angry.

“What the hell are we going to do?” I asked starting to feel angry myself.

Isabella and Erik had followed the warriors to the office, so they heard the update and looked just as concerned as I was, at the realization.

“Let’s expand the search outside of the territory. Maybe we can pick up her scent.” Alpha Drake replied.

“Erik can you arrange that search.” Alpha Drakes asked Erik.

“Yes boss, I’m on it.” He replied to the Alpha, while nodding his head.

“No one saw anything suspicious and it happened during the day. I wonder if it’s the same person from our pack that is helping the Rogue Alpha?” Alpha Drake said to no one in particular with anger clear in his voice.

I’m going to bring you home Clair, I promise you that. Stay strong my love.
