The Alpha’s Mute Mate -
Episode 18
BROOKE
I had enough of this room; I needed to get out of this place.
I headed down the stairs; everyone was glaring at something. I couldn’t help but look at the sight before me. The girl from earlier, the one who came to my room and who beat me up. She was on her knees under the table doing something to that man.
I couldn’t help but look at him; his eyes constantly changed from brown to black.
What the hell?
It freaked me out; I didn’t know what was happening.
I turned on my heel and ran out through the front door. I didn’t look in which direction to go in. All I knew was I needed to get out of there. I ran toward the forest and headed in between all the trees. There were loads of wildflowers scattered around the place.
Suddenly, a big wolf was running towards the packhouse. It jumped over me. I couldn’t help but stumble back and fall on my a*s hard.
I can’t help but feel scared.
Why are there so many damn wolves around here?
“Are you alright?” someone says from behind me. I looked over my shoulder and noticed a good-looking man staring at me with a smile.
I smile but obviously can’t say anything. He holds out his hand and helps me to my feet. “Hi, I’m Alpha Josh, and you are,” he asks.
I didn’t do anything but nod at him.
I look around, I want to get out of here, but the man places his hand on my lower pack and guides me back to the enormous house I had just left.
I wish I could speak.
“I’m here human,” someone says in my head.
I looked around and looked at the man, but he wasn’t even looking at me. He looks ahead.
“Who are you?” I asked. I lose my mind if this person doesn’t answer me back.
The voice in my head giggles; I can see two black orbs staring at me. “You’re not going, mad human. I’m your counterpart, and I can’t tell you who or what we are later, but not just yet, as I can sense danger, but I am here to help,” she says.
I stared back at the black orbs. I didn’t feel danger, but only warmth from whoever she was. I felt safe and at ease with her.
Alpha Josh looks at me. “You are very quiet, can’t you speak?” he asks, but I notice we are nearing the steps to the big house and see Daisy running towards me.
She explains everything to Alpha Josh that I can’t talk. Alpha Josh looks back at me, and I can’t help but smile back at him. Suddenly, I was pulled into a hug. Daisy holds me for a few moments. When she lets go, I can feel her arm around my back. “Ah, a human wants to protect you,” says the voice. “She is a good friend.”
I don’t say anything, but I can’t help beginning to shake, primarily when a high-pitched screaming comes from the house, and a girl comes running out and heads to a man. He was the one she was trying to do something to under the table.
“That b***h will have to deal with me if she touches him again,” says the voice in my head, sounding angry.
I shake a little more; I think Daisy could tell as her hold on me tightens.
It’s not even for the girl who is shouting.
I realize that a crowd of people is forming in sight; even the girl notices.
Her attitude changed quickly, and she wasn’t petrified of the man glaring at her anymore, who I just now noticed was stalking her. I have to say, he looks mean with all the scars on his face, but you can see he was handsome before whatever happened to him.
The girl looks straight at me. “All this because of her; they want her. She was theirs, not yours, and they will come for her,” she yells.
What the hell have I done?
“It’s not to do with you; she wants our mate,” says the voice.
I can sense she is close; she is looking through my eyes at the whole show.
“What do you mean, mate?” I asked her.
“No one told you about shifters or mates, have they?” she asks, but she goes quiet for a few moments but comes back into view. Her eyes showed sorrow and guilt. “I’m sorry, human, I didn’t know what happened to you. I should have come back sooner, but after that night, I had to rest. You needed me,” she says in a whisper, but we are both brought back to the conversation when the girl mentions Madison’s name.
I can’t help but shake; she tortured me like Aubrey.
The black eyes look through as the girl recalls everything. “Madison likes to run her mouth off about everything,” she says. “Aubrey made a deal with a rogue to have her; she made loads of deals with them,” she says, but she turns her attention to my father and smirks. “The rogue in question is the only one who killed your first mate and nearly killed her. He wants his prize back,” my father growls, but the girl roars back. “Nope, old man, there are a few things more you never knew. Aubrey is that rogue’s mate; she enjoyed torturing her endlessly,” she says with an evil grin. “She made her weak; he wanted her that way. He was shocked to see a small little human survived a vicious attack, so he wanted her. He arranged with his mate, but you were too weak to look after her. He sent his mate to become yours. The rogue wants her back, and he will do anything to get his prize back.”
“I’m done with listening to this,” shouts the voice in my head. “She will be killed for endangering my human.”
Suddenly, I could feel myself being pushed back into my body. I couldn’t help but close my eyes.
I can feel her take over my body.
She wants to kill.
I can’t see what she is, but all I can feel is love, and she wants to protect me. That’s a new feeling, something I never had, not since my mother.
