The Alpha’s Mute Mate
Episode 27

HUDSON

After the big uproar with my father and mother earlier and every one hearing it, I am completely done.

My mind was so confused.

I shouldn’t want Amy but when I saw her earlier, my feelings came flooding back for a second. Even Asher was taken back by her beauty. I shouldn’t be thinking about another woman while I have found my mate.

I haven’t seen Brooke. I don’t think she knows but you can never tell with this pack, everyone likes to gossip.

But since the shouting match, both Rex and I are outside. Asher has blocked me as he is angry that I have feelings for another and not my mate. I want Brooke but it is hard to connect with someone who can’t talk.

I look towards the window but she hasn’t been there.

“Daisy won’t talk to me,” Rex says and sits on the ground under the tree.

I sit next to him.

“What can I do?” he asks but I can’t give him any advice as I have my own issues to decide but he did hurt my sister. She left her hand mark on his face which is only now starting to fade.

“I don’t know, give her some time and space dude,” I say.

“What about you? What are you feeling?” He asks.

I sigh “I really don’t know my emotions and feelings are all over the place. My mother isn’t speaking to me as well as Daisy. Jackson doesn’t know yet but that is going to be hard to deal with and Brooke” I say, but I stop and I look towards her window, I can see her. She is looking at someone, I turn my attention to who it was, Amy with the baby and Austin.

“What the hell is he doing bringing her to the pack house?” says Rex as I was wondering the same thing.

We both get up and run over but I can’t help but look at Brooke’s face at the sight of Amy. Amy is smiling but Brooke looks at her like she wants to kill her.

She knows.

I run straight over to them. “What the hell are you doing here?” I say with a snarl escaping but neither of them says anything but my father’s voice comes over from the front door “I asked for her to come, I wanted to hear her side of the story” he says with anger spread across his face.

They head into the office without even saying a word to us; both I and Rex look at one another. We turn to head in with them but my mother stops us as we get to the door.

“Nope you too are not coming in, this is between us. Both of you go to the training grounds. Beta Logan is waiting for you” she says and walks in.

My mother is still clearly pissed at both of us.

We huff and head to training both wondering what the hell is going on in the office.

The training was brutal. Beta Logan was punished severely. I also think he enjoyed it a little too much.

After training both Rex and I lay on the grass, Beta Logan left a few minutes ago.

“You both look like you trained hard,” says a voice; we both look over to see Austin, Tasha and Amy coming towards us.

“Where is your sister?” I asked her.

“I left her in daycare, your mother put her there,” she says.

She looks at me and smiles “We had an interesting chat with your father the Alpha” she says with a smile but it soon goes away when she looks at both of us.

“Why would you tell everyone what happened between us,” She says to Rex “It was a mistake.”

Rex growls……We both knew my sister was his mate but she was too young to understand at the time.

“I had to tell, I knew Daisy was my mate when I was with you, I should have been more careful and never gotten you pregnant,” he says.

Austin looks at both of us as he had to hear about it in the office but he has a blank expression on his face.

“You knew and still slept with me, no wonder she hates you,” says Tasha. She is angry hearing as I know she and my sister are really good friends but she turns her attention to me “And you Hudson, admitting to falling for a human who is not your mate to your dad, what about Brooke?”

I can’t even look at her.

“Who’s Brooke?” says Amy looking between all of us.

“She’s my mate, I had to come back to help save her. I never knew she was my mate” I say which somehow I receive a howl in my head from Asher “She was our mate, you knew it too but you forgot about her” he says before putting up a block on me again.

I wish he would stop doing that, just talk to me you silly wolf.

Amy looks at me and sighs “Hudson, you knew we weren’t mates. We both agreed only to hook up and meet. I would never come between you and your mate. Not even if either one of us had feelings for the other.”

“Do you have feelings for me?” I ask suddenly, no one is talking, they just listen to us.

Amy looks at me “No Hudson, I don’t. I have a mate” she says and smiles.

“He is the Beta of the pack I’m from,” she says

“But you kissed him yesterday when we met you at the gates,” says Rex.

“I know and I shouldn’t have,” she says, still staring at me “I had to tell my mate and apologize to him when I went to the cabin”

No one talks for a bit but Amy looks at me “Hudson, you don’t have feelings for me. You have feelings for your mate” she says in a manor “By the way, she looks pretty.”

I smile, thinking about Brooke makes me feel warm inside.

“She is pretty, she is awesome,” says Austin “She can draw anything.”

Amy smiles “You will have to introduce me to her.”

“Brooke has been through a lot over the years, she doesn’t talk,” I say, feeling guilty about how I have been.

“How come?” says Amy looking at each one of us.

“She’s was attacked by a rogue who sliced her throat. She was barely holding on but she survived. She lost her voice box” Austin says as he could feel my guilt sweeping in.

“Oh my goddess, what about her wolf?” she asks but I shake my head.

“We all thought she was human until recently when her counterpart appeared as Brooke was fearing for her life” I say “Her counterpart isn’t wolf. All her life she has been human but not even Brooke knows what she is yet.”

Amy looks shocked “How is that even possible?” she asks.

I shrug “I don’t know but one thing is for certain, whatever she is……I think it is rare.”

“What do you mean?” asks Rex “Her scent is of human but there is another scent that comes through but I can’t put my finger on it”

“Her scent is human but her counterpart doesn’t let her scent come through,” I say but Austin looks at me “Have you done any research on other shifters? I did when you told me and let me tell you now; there are hundreds of different shifters.”

I sigh “I think we will wait till Brooke shifts and see what she is but Willow is hell bent on not showing us not till Brooke is ready,” I say.

“Willow is her counterpart,” says Amy, I nod.

“I have a uncle in the library of history that is local around here, if you want we could meet up with him and ask him if he knows any type of shifter that can do what Willow can do,” she says.

I nod “That be great.”

But Austin glares at me “You do realize that Brooke knows what you were saying back there on the stairs, she heard it all.”

I look back at him “She wasn’t…….where was…” but he cuts me off.

“She was hiding at the top of the stairs, around the corner. She has been in her room ever since. Alanna just checked on her but she’s asleep” he says.

Amy looks up at me with guilt and pity in her eyes “I’m sorry, I should have contacted you and asked to come here first” she says.

I shake my head “its ok, but I know I said some thing’s that has hurt her.”

We all stay quiet for a moment but I really need to be on my own. I need to think of a way to make it up to Brooke.

I get up and run to the packhouse, leaving everyone behind without a word. As I closed, my mother’s standing on the steps.

She looks towards where I came from and can see Amy “Why are you both together?” she asks.

“We had to clear up the air,” I say, running past her and heading to my room.

I came to my floor but stop outside Brooke’s room.

I open the door quietly and look in.

She is on her side facing the window so I couldn’t see her but I could tell she’s sleeping, by her silently snoring.

I stand there looking at her, her presence soothes me.

Asher is looking through, I can feel the love he has for her through the bond we have.

“You need to make it up to mate,” he says in a whisper.

“I will,” I tell him “Asher”

I know he is there but he doesn’t even say anything back.

“Did you know back when we were kids that Brooke was my mate?” I ask.

Asher comes closer and looks at Brooke as I have never taken my eyes off her.

“I knew she was special and that I wanted to be with her all the time. But when she left, I felt broken” he says with a whimper “I was a young pup and I couldn’t tell you as the moon goddess said it was too early but when we meet her again, she will need to replace herself and heal first.”

He goes quiet but suddenly “She also said that she is special, she is our fated mate and soulmate.”

I look at Brooke, she is special. Maybe taking a trip to see Amy’s uncle might be a good place to start.

I turn to leave but look over my shoulder to see my mate one last time.

I close her door quietly and head into my room. I needed a shower and rest.

I will make things right in the morning with Brooke.

I get undressed and shower quickly. Once I was sorted, I climbed into bed and I instantly drop off to sleep.
