The Alphas’ P**n Star Mate
Chapter 56 – The Alphas’ Porn Star Mate

Chloe

POV

The Beta smacked Billy on the back of his head. "Don't say it like that, you asshole. The bounty says alive and unharmed." "Ow! So?! It's on a hit list, isn't it?"

"Mr. Smith did?" I asked in disbelief. The man gave me the creeps last time we spoke, but this was insane. I didn't think he would do something extreme like putting a bounty on me, even though he did make that comment about kidnapping me. "You know who he is talking about?" Mick asked, concern laced in his voice.

I nodded. "He was a client of Darren's." I scoffed, thinking about his offer the last time I spoke to him. "An arrogant asshole but the richest one. Stupid rich. He basically tried to buy me the last time I saw him. Wanted me as his own personal sex slave or some shit like that." Both Mick and Miles let out a deep growl at that.

"That was right before you came over," I told Mick. "Darren told him I wouldn't be doing any more streams for him."

"Who's Darren?" Billy asked.

"Our friend," I answered and Mick nodded in agreement. "I did live shows with him a lot. He's the one that helped me get into being a cam girl."

"That's why he was so agitated. I thought it was because of me," Mick said.

"No," I shook my head. "Well, maybe you too. You didn't help, but we were all already weirded out by Mr. Smith's request."

Beta Desmond looked anxiously at Miles and then Mick. Miles' expression remained hard. He's been quiet and stoic since we arrived. Billy's eyes went wide the more we talked, and he was gaping at me.

"You don't seem to mind that your friend was with your Luuuun...., I mean, with Chloe?" Billy was staring at Mick. The beta scoffed at Billy and slapped him on the back of the head in warning. Billy winced but was still staring at Mick for an answer.

Mick shrugged, gripping my shoulders. "It was for work in the past. I'm not worried about it. Darren really is a decent guy and a good friend."

"Would you let him work with her again?" Billy pushed, wiggling his eyebrows.

Mick snorted. "Sure. If they really wanted." I smiled, knowing he just said that because Darren wouldn't work with anyone now that he's mated and neither would I.

"Really?" Billy's face lifted. "So, uh, Chloe. Let me tell you about this time I called dibs."

This time, both Beta Desmond and Miles slapped Billy upside the head from behind.

"That's enough," Miles said stiffly. "You have a job to do."

"Okay, okay," Billy muttered. "Geez. You're a lot grumpier since you found your mate. I thought you would be a love-struck puppylike Dez over here. Not such a sour puss." Miles groaned deeply, wiping a hand down his face. "Just work."

"Okay, Mr. Puss. Let me get my stretches in. This will take a while," Billy said, stepping to the side and twisting his body side to side, then stretching his arms up in the air. "Breaking the dark web is no joke. You're lucky I'm a fucking genius. The encryptions on this are going to be a bitch."

"Let me see," I said, curiosity getting the better of me as I flitted around the desk to stare at the computer. The screen was black and there were just a series of codes and random letters and numbers on the screen. I wrinkled my nose. "What is all this?"

Billy stretched his fingers, then sat in Miles's chair and started typing away. "I'm trying to remove the request on the dark web now. It might take a while. If this guy is as filthy rich as you say, that explains the complex coding, but I should be able to crack it."

"Billy has been working all night to get all the pictures and videos of your face off the internet entirely. That's when he came across your information on a hit list," Miles said.

"Why would he put me on a hit list if he wants me alive?"

"Because he said to kill anyone trying to protect you," Miles told me, stepping closer to peer over Billy's shoulder right beside me. I could faintly feel the sparks as he was only a breath away, and his drunken vanilla scent was delicious. Cortina was salivating, despite the pressing issue of Mr. Smith. "He offered a heavy sum of money. Too hefty to ignore. There will probably still be people out to replace you even after this gets deleted."

"No doubt about that. If you weren't my Luna, I might have been tempted myself," Billy murmured, still typing away.

"I'm not your Luna," I said softly. I could feel Miles's tension beside me, and when I glanced up at Mick he had an unreadable expression. I bit my lip, ignoring Cortina's grumblings in my head. I still don't think I can be a Luna again. The freedom I felt in the past year has been too sweet. I don't think I have it in me to put on an act all the time. No matter how wonderful Miles may be, or how much Mick's family wants him to stay here, living without my freedom still terrifies me. "Psh. Okay," Billy said, not feeling the tension in the room.

Miles cleared his throat, exchanging some heavy looks with Mick. Mick's brows furrowed, his pouty lip pursing.

"Regardless, we will do everything we can to keep you safe." Miles was staring at Mick while he said this, as if waiting for confirmation. Mick was the one who kept insisting we leave yesterday. Now, that would be more impossible than before. It won't just be Cameron looking for me now. Psychotic Mr. Smith, or whatever the hell his real name is, will be hunting for me too. Money will be coming after me from one side, and a monster from the other.

Guilt started to weigh heavy on me. "I'm putting your pack too much at risk. Maybe leaving would be-"

"NO!" Mick and Miles said at the same time. Even the Beta was shaking his head.

"We will keep you safe, Chloe. It's not a risk. It's a promise," Miles told me, his sharp eyes penetrating my defenses.

I bit my lip nervously, still unsure if I was worth all this trouble.

"Chloe, we're going to stay," Mick said. He had gotten closer, and I was now standing between him and Miles. Mick rested his hands on my hips, not pulling me closer possessively, but offering me the comforting sparks from our bond. "I'm not risking my miracle by leaving. I'm not risking you." was still gnawing on my bottom lip, stressed and anxious.

"We aren't a small pack, Chloe," Miles surprised me by reaching up and freeing my raw bottom lip from my teeth. Mick's hands tightened on my waist, but he didn't move to stop his brother, or show any of the signs of hostility he showed yesterday. Miles ran his thumb over my lip, sending tingles down my neck. I shuddered from the brief intimate contact as he dropped his hand with a vulnerable look. I don't think he meant to touch me. He seemed surprised at himself. He looked worriedly at Mick, but Mick's expression was observant and stoic. He was unreadable on the outside, and I could only feel a distraction in him, like his mind was occupied with too many things at the same time.

Miles coughed and then continued. "We aren't a small pack. We are actually the largest in this region and have influence in many places and plenty of resources. You will be safe here." His voice deepened with his resolve. "I promise you, you will be." "Okay," I said softly, my eyes caught in his sharp gaze again.

"Fuck!" Billy shouted, breaking me from the spell.

I shook my head and turned to look at Mick, who had just been quietly observing me. Again, I didn't feel the possessiveness or anger from yesterday, just contemplation.

Miles sighed, going back to hover over Miles again. "What? What's wrong?"

"My minesweeper! It's fucking rigged!"

Miles growled and flicked Billy in the ear, making him hiss and rub the side of his head.

"Ow! Why do y'all keep hitting me?"

"Get to work!"

"I am! Good goddess, grumpy puss. I was waiting for the software to catch up!"

Goddess, these men were a mess, but I found myself smiling at the comrade between them. It wasn't a bad feeling being in the presence of ranked wolves such as them.
