Chapter 101: Going Their Separate Ways.

Charles went silent when he heard this.

"Prepare the papers and send them over. Make sure you sign it," she said. Charles was pissed when he heard her tone. She was the one who was eager to marry him before, and now she wants to leave just like that? Why should he give her what she wants? "I don't care what you are messing with; better stay home and stop causing trouble," he said.

"Are you actually dismissing the freedom I am offering you? Didn't you always want to be free?" she asked,

"Even if you do not care, can that little lover of yours wait?" she a

asked.

"Is that what this is about?" he asked. He always knew his wife was bothered by Melanie. But

even if she is acting out, there is a limit.

"I do not have time for all your nonsense. Do not call me if there is nothing important."

"If you refuse to sign, I will make your little lover famous. She dares to be the mistress of a married man? I will make sure she is all the media talks about. If you know what is good for you, send over the papers and let's go our separate ways," she said and ended the call. It was clear she had been a fool all these years to assume that he would love just because she married him. She felt that she had done herself a great disservice by marrying him.

It was either dealing with his crazy mother, his unruly sister, or a mistress on the outside. As she walked up the stairs, she felt like laughing. She could not believe that she, Emma Hamilton, had degraded herself to this point.

She walked into the room she had stayed in, a room that should have been their matrimonial bedroom, but her husband had never come back once to lie on the bed. It was as though the room mocked her.

She had been a widow in her marriage, keeping vigil all day while he went around with his mistress. Very few people even knew that they were married to each other. Even less knew that he was married, and those who knew have never seen his wife's face before. She was somewhat glad that this was so. She thought of the shame she had put herself through all these years and was quite happy that no one knew she had married him.

She crawled into bed to sleep, but sleep was hard to come by. Even though she had come to her senses, it did not change the fact that it hurt. Everything about what Charles had done to her hurt her greatly.

She stayed awake deep into the night before she finally went to sleep. When she woke up the next day, she turned to a maid and asked her to start packing all her things. The maid paused but nodded. She dressed and picked up her document to leave. But the moment she stepped out of her room to walk down the stairs, she received a call from her mother-in-law.

This woman, Cecile, was the most annoying woman she had ever met. She looked down on her because her son, Charles, was self-mad, and she wanted a wife who would be useful to her son.

From the day she had stepped foot in their home, Cecile had been very vocal that she did not

like her.

Emma picked up the call, and Cecile's loud voice tore through her ears the next moment.

"Why are you not here yet? Do you not know that I have things to do today? You are the one who wanted to be a wife of our family, yet you cannot even behave like a good wife. Hurry up and get here this moment, or get lost from our family!" Cecile shouted. This was normal. Every single time Cecile opened her mouth, it was to threaten Emma with divorce.

If it were any other day, Emma would have tried to reason with this mother-in-law, but she was not having it today. She was tired and wanted out of this hellhole,

And with her fatigue came impatience.

"You do not need to worry too much. Your son and I are getting a divorce," Emma said coldly. She was done with this family.

It was as though the line had gone dead on the other side. Emma already knew Cecile had never thought it was possible for her to leave her son.

"What did you say?" Cecile asked.

"You heard me. Your son and I are getting a divorce. You do not need to call me again to scream. I can take it as your daughter-in-law, but when I am no more, you will receive a slap, Emma said and ended the call.

She texted her husband to meet her at a specific location. Seeing that he did not respond immediately, she called him.

"If you do not arrive there on time, I will drive to the nearest media house and do an interview," she said and ended the call.

She made her way there. All through the drive-over, she felt empty.

When she stepped into the restaurant, Richard was waiting inside. He was a lanky mid-aged man in a sharp dark blue suit.

"Emma," he called her, and she smiled.

"Richard," she greeted him as they made their way to the second floor

"I am glad we will be getting this over with," Richard sald, and she smiled lightly while glancing his way but said nothing. What could she possibly say to that?

Every time she met him, he had been this way. Richard had taken up her divorce as though it was a personal matter.

She was ready to return to her maiden state, as though the nightmare that was Charles did not

exist.

When she walked into the restaurant's private room, Charles was there with his lawyer.

When Charles saw her walk in in a red suit, he could not help but stare slightly. He had to admit that his wife was quite the beautiful woman.

"You are the one that wanted a divorce, but you sure took your time to get here," Charles commented.

Emma nodded to Richard, and he handed over the documents to Charles's lawyer.

"Sign it," Emma said.

"What kind of tantrum is this? I already told you when we got married what you should not expect. I only missed your birthday, and you are throwing a tantrum? Are you a child? Know your place, Emmal" he scolded.

"If you do not sign, I will be releasing pictures of your infidelity to the press," she said and he scoffed. It was clear he did not belleve she had any such plctures.

Emma took out her large file holder, opened it, and unloaded the pictures Inside on the floor. When the pictures scattered all over the floor, Charles could see there were pictures of himself and Melante in compromising situations.

"Even if these pictures do nothing to you, it will destroy Melanie. After all, her entire image is about being a religious person. How will her religious fans take it?" Emma asked.

Charles's face was extremely ugly at this moment. He stared at the pictures and looked up back

at Emma

"Where did you get these pictures?" Charles made to step forward, but Richard stopped him with a sentence.
