The Billionaire's Mistake (Anya and Daniel)
Chapter 274: His irritation

"They didn't agree at first. But I talked to a friend who had pull and begged till she spoke for me and they let me," she said and he nodded. For some reason, his eyes lingered on her face for a bit.

He was not sure why her story angered him a bit. Was it because he was now calling her his wife? Or was it because he had their marriage registered abroad. He could not put his finger on it, but his anger was slightly hot.

"How is that not bullying?" he said coldly, squeezing her hand. "They ignored you just because of some rumors?"

Vivian met his gaze, a small smile tugging at her lips.

She could tell he was angry on her behalf.

For some reason, she felt her heart sing. He was behaving unusually. He would call her baby at any moment and touch her when he felt like it.

Or some reason, she was not revolted by this. She could not tell was this man was thinking, but she understood he wanted her to get used to him. They could not act as a couple if she was so afraid of him and flinched at his every touch. She was not sure why he needed a wife, but it did not matter. As long as he was dedicated to taking care of Maya's medical needs, she would do her part..

"It stopped in college. I may not have made deep friends, but people talked to me. And it got better when an ex, Donald introduced me to his friends," she said and Mathew's mood dipped. He was not sure why but he did not like the idea of her having an ex. "You met him in college?" he asked and she felt he was angry.

"Yes. Now that I think about it, be approached me first. Even though it seemed that we met coincidentally, it was definitely a set up. Never mind it is a long story" She said, brushing the topic away.

Mathew also did not want to hear more about this. He was trying to understand his mood. The thought that she had someone she had loved when she still kept him at arms length bothered him for some reason.

"What do we do about the marriage thing? When will you register it? Won't people replace out we only registered our marriage if they check?" she asked. She was worried that those she had met claiming to be his wife would look into it.

"What is there to worry about? Even if they check, it will show that we are married," he said.

"What?" she asked.

"I pulled some strings," he said.

"Pulled as in..." Vivian thought that she had heard wrong.

"As in, it is legal and according to records, we have been married for a month," he said and she stared at him as though he had grown two heads.

"Wait, we just talked about this yesterday. I did not even have the time to decide, yet you went ahead and registered the marriage?" she basically screamed.

"This is out of you hands now, Vivian," he said standing up. She was able to tell he was getting ready to leave.

"Since last night, there was a family matter. I can't have such a lie being dug up. Don't worry. As long as you do not tell anyone, no one would know," he said and started to leave, but she grabbed him.

"You just went ahead to file some document I did not even sign and back dated it without saying anything?" she asked in such a low voice that it pierced his heart. For some reason, Vivian was not okay with the fact that she did not even sign the document and she is now married. It bothered her greatly.

"Vivian, you may have forgotten what kind of relationship we were in," he said coldly and she let go sharply.

The moment those words left his mouth, he regretted it. Her reaction and the look in her eyes made him want to punch something.

"Mr. Shaw, I have a feeling you want a bait. You said you will take care of Maya and you would protect me through out. But you never said you will be gorging documents. I apologize. I thought I would know when it happens" she said softly.

How could she have forgotten who

this was? How could she have gotten comfortable enough to forget who he was? This was Mathew

Shaw. She was nothing to him. What if he killed her out of anger?

"But I improvised regardless. It is necessary and useful to me. I will protect you,.Vivian, but something's need to be done," he said and she felt her anger boil and almost spill, but she held it in. and like that she was married without even holding a pen or seeing a priest.

"Is there any other activity Mr. Shaw expects of me?" she asked and Mathew felt like a wall had come up between them. For some reason, ke panicked slightly. But he was not too sure what this girl was doing to him. He did not like how much control she was slowly having over him, but he was starting to care about her too much.

But for what was about to happen, he needed to be hardhearted, or he would never go through with his plan.

He may have taken care of his former butler who was a spy, but he still had to clean up the rest of his men. The plan was important.

When he thought about this, his tone cooled and he looked at her coldly.

"We have an event tonight, it is mostly for collateral families and affiliated clans," he said and she nodded.

"We must look in love for me to catch who I need," he said and she nodded and stepped back.

Mathew instinctively wanted to step forward towards her but held back.

He had to admit, he was obsessed with her. He was not sure why, but he could not help it when he talk to her. He had become impulsive, but he knew what he wanted. He wanted her. He almost could not agree with the plan tonight, but it needed to happen. So, he turned around and left.

Vivian was not ready for what cam after. When she was ready to leave for the even, the driver took her alone and told her Mathew would be joining in a moment.

They had tot driven for when the car was hit from behind.

She suddenly heard gun shuts. Her head spun as her vision started to tunnel in. as her vision went black, she heard the men talking.

"They really came as predicted. Surround them boys," one of them said.

"And the madam?" another asked.

"It seems she had gone unconscious," she heard someone say. At that moment, Vivian understood again. She was bait. Her job was to be bait.

The house was silent and solemn when Vivian was settled in Mathew' room. When Mathew stepped down stairs, he found his mother, father and grandfather waiting for him.

He sighed and took a sit before pouring himself a drink.

"Are you two really married?" Old Master Rhodes asked and Mathew raised a brow.

"Yes," he answered.

"Then why did you do it?" Wendy asked. It was clear his immediate family found out that he had used Vivian as bait. He was not shocked they knew he was married.

"What did you think was going to happen when people found out I was married?" Mathew asked and they saw his point.

It was the same for Christopher when he had married Wendy. Their enemies saw it as a chance to move. It took a lot of work out eliminate people around her.
