The CEO's Lovely Twins -
Chapter 142 Often Came When I Was A Child
Night fell. The evening breeze at the hilltop sounded a bit cool when they felt it.
Hayden and Joseph walked around the hill while holding each other's hands. Seeing that Joseph was familiar with everywhere, she could not help but ask.
"Do you come here often? How come you're so familiar with this place?"
"The development right of this place is under the ST Group. It was originally meant to become a resort area but this project was delayed due to some matters after that. So, this place has become a deserted hill."
Joseph paused for a few seconds before speaking slowly.
Hayden's attention was entirely on the environment in the surrounding so she did not notice a trace of despondency in Joseph's eyes.
"Is it deserted? I feel that it's taken care of pretty well. There are flowers and trees all over the place and there are many large fruit trees over there. Many raspberries can be found there." Hayden seemed to have somewhat realized something. She raised her eyes to size up Joseph's face, "However, you apparently haven't answered my question directly."
Joseph's face stiffened. After a moment of silence, he let go of Hayden's hand and paced to the place where there was a draught. The wind at the hilltop entered his shirt and this made his shirt somewhat expanded. This inexplicably showed loneliness.
"I often came when I was a child." Joseph looked indifferent, "After my father passed away, I never come. The project of the resort was also stopped due to my father's death."
Joseph's father died in a car accident. Hayden frowned, "So, your father is..."
"Yes."
Joseph took a deep breath and showed a rarely seen sadness, "My father had an accident on this hill."
Hayden's heart tightened slightly. She walked up with an apologetic face, "Sorry."
She should not ask so many questions. This matter would probably cause him to feel very sad.
"It's okay. That is already a matter that happened many years ago. Also, I'm the one who wants to bring you here. I intend to restart the development project of the resort so perhaps this will be the last time for us to see the natural phenomenon here."
He backhanded to hold Hayden's hand and pulled her to his side, "When you come here the next time, there will be a place for you to stay."
Joseph suddenly embraced her and there was a trace of tenderness in his eyes, "I just hope that in the future, on this day every year, you can also think of some happy things rather than only thinking of the anniversary of your mother's death."
Hayden lay in his arms and her voice was slightly muffled, "Like what?"
"For example, today is the day you come to this world. Without this day, I won't have met you."
"You will meet someone else too."
Hayden deliberately teased him, "Such as Viola or someone else. If I don't exist, won't you have married someone else? Perhaps, your child will be given birth soon not long after."
"What exactly are you going to say?" Joseph frowned. His tone became cold but the tenderness in his eyes did not diminish at all.
This woman was indeed dropping a clanger.
Hayden blinked and said with great regret, "I've prevented you from having a marriage with others, I'm really sorry."
Her sly behaviour made her looked like a little fox. Joseph looked down at her and he could not see her clearly in the dark.
The next second, Hayden was carried by Joseph in his arms. As her legs were suddenly lifted from the ground, she wrapped her hands tightly around his neck.
"Oh my God..." Hayden's screams echoed throughout the hilltop, "What are you doing? Put me down..."
"Just scream, nobody will come and save you no matter how hard you scream."
Joseph placed her body on the backseat of the car and closed the door, "Do you know what the consequence of provoking me is?"
Hayden was lying fearlessly. Her shiny black hair scattered below her body and this made her looked even more charming.
"I know, of course," Hayden spoke softly and her red face looked like a temptation.
On Saturday, Hayden went to Scarlett's house to pick up the two children.
It was just nice that her uncle was also there, "Hayden is here. You've arrived just in time, stay and have lunch together at noon."
"No need." Hayden hurriedly excused herself, "I'm just here to pick up the kids, I've promised Joseph and we will go back to his house at noon to have a meal with his grandpa."
Harrison had called her a day in advance and asked her to take the kids to have a meal together. The purpose was undoubtedly clear. After all, he only had a precious grandson and a precious great-grandson. So, it was normal that he wanted to get in touch with her, who was Joseph's rumoured fiancée so that he would only feel at ease.
"Where is Aunt?" Hayden looked around and did not see Scarlett.
"You'll have to wait for a while. Have a seat first, she has brought the two kids for a morning exercise."
"Morning exercise?" Hayden slightly curled her lips. These two kids were used to glue themselves to bed, especially Noah. He was spoiled by others since young in which he could do whatever he wanted. Regarding when he wanted to sleep, it was always based on his temper.
Scarlett always had a habit to do morning exercise so she would wake up at six o'clock in the morning. It was still okay for Stella but was Noah able to wake up?
"Uncle, these two kids haven't given you any trouble in the past two days here, right?"
Knowing how these children were like, Hayden's heart leapt to her throat.
"Yes, they didn't." Hayden's uncle, Nathan, waved his hand and invited her to sit down while smiling.
"They didn't give me any trouble. It was just that yesterday noon, your second aunt brought her two naughty children to come over and they broke your aunt's record player. They accused that Stella was the culprit but the result was that although Noah could not speak, he could write down the whole thing clearly with logical evidence so Stella's innocence was proved. This child is indeed not simple."
Hearing this, Hayden could not help but reveal a proud look, "This child has always been smart."
"He's really a smart child as he has his own ideas from a young age. He is really close to you and it seems like he is your biological child."
Nathan put the teacup in front of Hayden. These words were spoken meaningfully and this apparently hit the nail on the head.
Hayden clenched her fists tightly and smiled awkwardly, "My aunt should be back soon, right."
"Yes, it's almost time."
Nathan glanced at the clock, "It's almost time. By the way, your aunt has asked me to give you something."
"What?" Hayden said curiously.
"This is the key of a duplex apartment in Plum Blossom Park. It isn't appropriate that you keep living in your friend's house. So, you should move in there afterward." When Hayden saw the key, she was stunned. After regaining her presence of mind, she quickly declined.
"Uncle, I don't want it."
"Your aunt's bark is worse than her bite. The house is under your name and the reason it isn't given to you for so many years is that we're afraid that the woman of the Downey family will snatch the thing your mother gave you. We also know that Brook has given you a villa in the Jinshui Villa area. However, we hear that the villa area is too old and not many people are living there. You bring your child to leave there, just take this key."
Nathan had aged a lot over the years. As Hayden listened to his words, she had a complicated mood and she felt bad. Overcome by a sense of sadness, the tears rolled down her cheeks.☐☐
