However, neither Mel nor Matis expected Kat to have become a martial artist, and one with formidable strength despite her tiny frame. And the so-called Master Lawrence-some boastful, unseemly guest-was a martial artist too.

In fact, the five bodyguards were Matis' best men, but they did not even last a round!

"J-Just you wait!" Matis snarled and turned to leave the ward.

Mel was reeling too, but she kept it to herself as she hurried after her son.

Catching up to him in the hallway, she asked in clear frustration, "Matis... What are we going to do? Are we just going to let this slide?!"

"Of course not, Mom-just calm down for a moment." Matis sneered darkly. "This was never a problem. I'll call more people right now... they might be martial artists, but no matter how good they are, can they really handle a hundred men?!

Mel grinned smugly in turn. "That's my son for you. Go on-make the call."

"Yeah!" Matis nodded, whipped out his phone, and dialed a number.

Before the call was answered, however, he heard the commotion down the hallway.

Both he and mother turned to see a huge group of people, all fully dressed in white as they strode down the hallway.

"What? Aren't they..." Matis was taken aback, because he recognized his own boss among their ranks.

And upon a closer look, he realized he recognized all of them and clapped his mother on the shoulder excitedly. "Mom! They are all from the Sorano family-key members and retainers at that!" "What?! They're from the Sorano family?!"

It was the first time Mel had ever seen such a profound sight. They were a large group of men, with people clearing the path up front, and bigwigs wearing shades or hats from the back. They varied in age, but all of them wore the signature white suits of the Sorano family, clearly important figures within.

And at the center of Emilio Sorano himself, the eldest son of Zico Sorano, the head of the Sorano family.

Though their presence might even be more stellar than some star celebrities strolling down a street, Mel noticed something unusual at the very back.

Several men were carrying a stretcher, on which lay a youth who was biting into a mouthguard in clear anguish. He kept grunting and groaning, clearly fighting it.

As the group approached, Matis had an idea and hurried to his boss with a fawning smile. "Lobo, Lobo? Hey, it's me, Matis!"

"Matis?"

Lobo turned in surprise toward Matis, frowning as he asked, "What are you doing here in Loggins Apothecary?"

"Oh, nothing much... It's your birthday, isn't it? See, I already bought you a gift but I was robbed in broad daylight right here. And it's a martial artist..."

Matis lied unabashedly, dramatically shaking his head and sighing. "The five bodyguards I brought were all beaten up... I would've been hurt too, but I got away quickly." Lobo frowned. "Really? Did you tell him who you are?"

Matis could barely hide his inward glee even as Frank's face came to mind.
