The Girlboss Begs for Remarriage by Chu -
Chapter 1017
Titus remained impassive as he strode into The Dark Life. "What happened? Where's Sif?" he asked the bartender.
The bartender's legs were trembling as he stammered, "I-I don't know, Mr. Lionheart. All I remembered was her meeting with the South Sea Crow, and then I fell unconscious. She was gone when I woke up." Titus' eyes narrowed, clearly infuriated by the bartender's panicked recounting.
His family owned The Dark Life, but there were no official ties as Titus himself set up this place. They would use it to assign missions to Blackrank individuals, and it was an exceedingly secure spot. Naturally, the public would have no idea about that—all they knew was that The Dark Life was a bar, though not particularly eye-catching.
Even so, it was still illogical for a person to just disappear into thin air.
"What about the cameras?" Titus asked when he calmed down, turning back to the bartender.
"It's..." The bartender leveled a troubled look at the corner, where the cameras that were installed there had disappeared.
"Fine, I got the picture now. Just shut up." Titus waved him off in irritation and started thinking.
Sif's disappearance would have been nothing to him if it did not happen at this critical juncture.
Could the South Sea Crow have betrayed his family and defected to the Turnbulls-her sworn enemy?
Was there even a chance of that?
A growing sense of foreboding struck Titus, and the image of a certain person slowly appeared in mind.
"Frank Lawrence...?"
Titus was surprised that he would think that, but was it even possible?
Not only would Frank have no chance of knowing this place-even if he did, how could he have known when Sif would be here? And that was not all, would he just happen to destroy the cameras while knocking out everyone in the bar by lacing their drinks?
It was the work of the South Sea Crow, no matter how one looked at it. But why would she kidnap Sif? What good would that do her?!
Titus had zero idea what was happening.
And early next morning, he got a call from Glen Turnbull himself, whose tone was endlessly icy. "Mr. Lionheart, I'm afraid we will be annulling the engagement between you and Vicky." "Why?!" Titus' fingers clenched so hard around his phone that he could crush it.
"Because we have received word that your family has been in league with the South Sea Crow and culpable for the deaths of over forty members and associates of my family." "What?!" Titus was flabbergasted.
This was the worst case scenario that he absolutely did not want to happen.
The South Sea Crow really defected to the Turnbulls?! But why?!
"Mr. Turnbull," Titus said solemnly, keeping calm despite his shock and rage, "I'm sure there's some sort of misunderstanding here. I can come over right now, and we can all sit down and discuss this—"
"I'm afraid that would be unnecessary." Glen refused coolly and even chuckled. "You should worry about what you would be telling Simon. I mean, even he would be surprised that his son is so outstanding, conspiring against us Turnbulls since three years ago."
