The Girlboss Begs for Remarriage by Chu -
Chapter 1256
Could the rock actually be a treasure, but Frank was just trying to play down its value so that the other guests would not compete?
With that in mind, everyone was suddenly interested, while Travis was delighted.
Frank's move was basically promoting the rock!
Beaming, he asked, "Forgive my ignorance, Mr. Lawrence, but I've always treated it as a red gemstone. Would you mind telling me what it is, if it's not a gemstone?"
"It really is just a normal rock," Frank said calmly, despite the troubled look in his eyes. "However, it holds a special meaning to me, which is why I will buy it."
"Pfft."
Hugh was snickering-did Frank really take them for fools?
Whether it was really a gemstone or not, the fact that Frank tried to disparage it while trying to buy it meant there was something fishy going on.
He must be worried that the others would compete with him.
With that, Hugh looked up and grinned. "Since Mr. Lawrence is interested, there has to be something special about it, and I'll buy it for the sake of research. I bid 1.1 billion."
"Two billion," Frank said quietly even before the others could react. "Like I said, it's pointless for the rest of you. Don't screw over yourself."
"And why would you think that?" Hugh retorted, sneering. "Three billion!"
"Four billion," Frank said calmly. "I can keep going if you want."
"4.5 billion!" Hugh smirked. "It's not an issue, Frank. I have all the money I need."
"Uh-huh. Five billion."
Frank raised, still impassive. "This is my final raise. If you raise it again, I'd have to concede." Hugh snorted but considered Frank's threat.
If he raised again and Frank really gave up, he would end up having to buy that rock.
And to be honest, he just wanted to mess with Frank-he did not want that rock which was not worth a billion dollars, let alone five. Sneering in contempt, he decided that since he had managed to mess with Frank anyway, there was no reason to go that far.
Smiling, he returned to his armchair and smiled. "In that case, you can have it."
Frank snorted.
It was ridiculous that the rock which was not even worth a billion was sold for five billion.
Even if Hugh did raise the bid because he wanted to be mean, Frank must have had a brainfart, willingly buying a rock at the astronomical value of five billion.
While Frank could definitely get the money from Trevor Zurich, Helen, and Vicky, he refused to tell anyone about the rock.
He was not lying when he said that it held special meaning to him.
It was a perfectly ordinary rock, and the reason it was red was because it was covered in blood.
