Chapter 182 Let Go of Your Hand!

It was obvious he had just cried. When Amanda saw this scene, her heart tightened, and she immediately walked to the bed and picked up the child.

The nanny rushed in and shouted, "You can't take the child away. I'll die!" Howard had ordered that she could bid goodbye to her life if the child was taken away.

"Get out of the way!" Elias forcefully pulled the nanny aside and walked into the bedroom. He saw his son in such a pitiful state and instantly became furious.

He took out his phone and dialed Grandpa's number. It quickly connected before he started yelling into the phone, "Grandpa! Are you turning into a kidnapper now? The child has been crying like this, so how long do you plan to keep him hidden in this secret room? If you continue like this, I'll have no choice but to send you to a nursing home."

Howard's voice sounded puzzled on the other end of the phone. "How did you replace the child? How did you know about this secret room?"

Elias did not have the patience to talk to Howard now, so he hung up the phone directly. Then, he took the child from Amanda's arms and said, "Let's go."

"Okay." The moment when she saw the child, she could not hold back her tears anymore. She stood up and followed the man, preparing to leave the secret room.

The nanny wanted to step forward to stop them, but Yacob pulled her aside and angrily whispered, "Don't you have any eyes? Offending Old Mr. Winters means death, but offending Mr. Winters means annihilation of your generations! Step aside quickly!"

At that, the nanny froze and obediently stood aside without saying another word.

Elias carried the child and walked out of the secret room, his expression extremely grim. He had never felt such disgust toward his grandpa before. Howard had always been the person who doted on him the most, but this time, he had indeed gone too far.

Just as they exited the secret room, they ran into Jennifer and Grace walking toward them. Amanda felt a somewhat distant feeling when she saw these two. She was starting to forget about them as she had not seen them for a while.

Especially Grace, whom Amanda would feel an itch of hatred for no matter when she saw her.

"Elias, what's going on? This child..." Jennifer looked at the child in his arms and felt a little doubtful. Is this the heir of the Winters Family?

Elias was in no mood to talk to his mother now. He coldly said, "It's none of your business. Just go back and rest."

He intended to brush past Jennifer after saying that. Grace, wanting to make her presence felt, could not help but say, "Elias, the child seems sick. Should we call the doctor? Dr. Smith just came to see Mrs. Winters and hasn't left yet. Why not bring the child over to have a look?" She wanted to reach out and touch the child's forehead as she spoke.

He quickly moved away while holding the child and shouted, "Take your hand off! Stay away from the child! You're never allowed to come one step near him! Otherwise, I'll kill you!"

This shout frightened everyone present, including Amanda, who stood by the side. She never expected Elias to yell at her in front of so many people.

Suddenly, the kid in the man's arms started crying, seemingly startled by him as well. He tightly grasped onto the man's clothes and softly whimpered, "Mommy..."

Amanda hurriedly walked over and held the baby's hand, saying, "Don't worry, Mommy is here. Don't be scared. It's okay."

Elias also realized that he had frightened his kid. His voice turned gentle and indulgent as he comforted his son. "Aiden, be good. Daddy is here. Everything's fine now. No one will lock you up again." He walked away while carrying the child without looking at his mother or Grace.

Amanda glanced at them, wanting to say something, but then decided not to. The most important thing now was the child, so she followed closely behind the man's steps.

The ladies were left standing there. Jennifer was shocked by her son's behavior, for she had never seen him so harsh toward Grace. Meanwhile, Grace's face filled with embarrassment. She clenched her fingers, nails sinking deep into her palms without feeling any pain.

She glared at Amanda from behind with resentment.

"Grace, why is Elias so cold toward you now? Not to mention no signs of affection; he even seems to hate you. Has he misunderstood something about you?" Jennifer asked.

Grace immediately put on a pitiful look. "I don't know either, but ever since Amanda returned, she's been constantly bothering Elias. Over time, he became distant from me. I did nothing wrong. He always suspects that I kidnapped that child. You know me, I'm scared of bugs and ants. How could I possibly do such a thing?"

Jennifer became furious instantly. "Is there even a need to think? Amanda must've been spreading baseless rumors in front of Elias. How could he become so confused, believing the words of a woman? Besides, it's still unclear whether that child is one of the Winters. We need to conduct a paternity test."

"Mrs. Winters, I'm afraid I can't be your daughter-in-law anymore. Elias doesn't care about me now, nor does he care about my brother anymore."

"No! I have to talk to him. He can't be this selfish. Has he forgotten how his father died?" Jennifer turned around with a worried expression and walked away.

Grace's face of grievances instantly disappeared, replaced by hatred. She would never be able to stay by Elias' side or even approach him as long as Amanda and the child were still alive.

She did not want to be this way, but Amanda and that child were simply too annoying. She could only replace true happiness and peace when this mother and child completely vanished from the world. At this point, Grace had already entered a state of madness. She could not allow herself to be abandoned so miserably.

At Northern No. 1.

Elias and Amanda returned to Northern No. 1 with the child.

Aiden was gently rocked back to sleep in the man's arms in the bedroom. His little hands tightly gripped the man's tie.

"Let's put him on the bed. You've been holding him for a long time. You must be tired," Amanda said.

The man acknowledged and walked to the bedside, preparing to put the child on the bed. However, the little hands holding onto his tie refused to let go. Aiden pouted and made a grumbling sound as if still restless in his sleep. He was even insecure in his dreams.

Elias' heart softened, so he sat on the nearby couch, still holding him. "Let me hold him a little longer. It's rare for him to rely on me like this."

He did not usually have this opportunity, and it was the first time this little brat had shown such reliance on him. It truly made him feel the responsibility of being a father.

She nodded, looking at the kid in his arms with tenderness. She did not know what Aiden had experienced that night. However, it was unsettling to see him so afraid and dependent, as it was something he rarely showed. Even sleeping seemed to be a fearful experience for him.

That secret room must have caused some significant psychological trauma to the child.
