Chapter 187 The Escape Plan Failed

Selina suddenly remembered that she had to inform Amanda about this as soon as possible, or Elias would replace her in no time. She dialed Amanda's other private number, and the call went through soon enough.

Her voice rang out from the other end of the line. "What's the matter, Selina? I'll be boarding the plane in thirty minutes."

"Amanda, get out of there! Your ex-husband came just now, and I've already told him what you taught me to say, but he quickly sensed something was wrong. I didn't spill anything, but he already deduced you were running away. He's now sending people to the train station, the airport, and the harbor to look for you!"

Amanda fell silent for a few seconds on the other end of the line. "All right, got it. I should turn off this phone too, or he'll replace me right away."

"Okay, be careful."

At the terminal.

After Amanda ended the call, her face turned a little pale, and her fingertips even began to tremble subconsciously. Elias had already caught on and sent his people to look for her everywhere...

She knew how capable this man was. If he wanted to look for a person, he could replace them in the blink of an eye. She looked at the boarding port, wishing she could board the plane sooner. Still, it would take almost forty minutes to drive from the city to the airport, so he probably would not be here in time.

Amanda glanced at her watch. She would be boarding in thirty minutes, so she might be able to make it...

She gripped Aiden's tiny hand beside her. No matter what, she would not be separated from her son.

"What's the matter, Mommy?" He was drinking from the juice box he held in his arms when he felt her taking his hand, his small face tilting upward.

She smiled bitterly. "Nothing, Aiden. No matter what happens, you'll choose to side with Mommy, right?"

"Of course. I love Mommy the most."

When she heard his determined reply, she could not help but chuckle. He was such a sweet child.

Time ticked by, and Amanda kept looking anxiously at the number, every second feeling like an eternity. She chanted in her heart, Hurry, let us board the plane now...

She dared not turn to look behind her because she feared she would see Elias' figure as soon as she did. It was even scarier than encountering a ghost in a haunted house.

Meanwhile, Elias' bodyguards were looking high and low for the mother and son. "Yacob, check the train station, and I'll go to the airport." Elias gave his orders in the car.

Yacob nodded, then pulled up by the road and said, "I just checked the surveillance cameras in the community. When we drove in, Miss Bailey and the kid had just gotten into a cab. Judging from the direction they went to, they might be headed for either the airport or the train station. The harbor isn't quite probable, so we can scratch that."

"Alright. I'll take the airport."

Hence, the two got out of the car before Elias got into the driver's seat and sped to the airport. An aggressive and domineering look filled his dark eyes. He would never allow Amanda and the child to disappear from his sight.

Four years ago, he did not know anything, but things were different now. He understood his heart and finally recognized the most important things in his life. "Amanda, don't ever think of escaping..." He set his gaze ahead and floored the gas pedal, muttering to himself.

It would usually take forty minutes for him to arrive at the airport, but he took only thirty minutes. After getting into the terminal by special means, he began looking for the mother and child. However, the airport was huge, and there were too many people, so it was tricky to replace someone.

Elias looked around him; every woman who had a child with them looked like Amanda. He stepped forward and grabbed a woman's shoulder, and when she turned around, it was an unfamiliar face.

"Are you all right, sir?" The woman looked at the tall, handsome man in front of her, bewildered. She thought he was flirting and wanted to get her number.

The expectation in his eyes turned into disappointment again. "Sorry. I got the wrong person."

The woman also looked a little disappointed as she turned around and left.

The man continued walking in the sea of people, looking for Amanda and their child. There were almost a hundred boarding ports at the airport, so if he kept searching like this, he had no idea when the search would end.

He gradually began to feel annoyed. Would Amanda be here? I have no idea either, but my sixth sense tells me she might be at the airport.

Also, according to his analysis, she no longer had any friends or relatives in this country. Her only relative was that gambler of a father, but she did not miss him anyway, so she might take her child abroad again.

Meanwhile, the boarding process had finally begun, and a smile appeared on Amanda's face. She even felt like sighing in relief because they had finally started boarding the plane. Since she did not see Elias anywhere, he probably would not be here before she boarded the plane.

However, Elias happened to stride past nearby. He would have caught sight of the mother and son if he had just altered his path a little bit...

Amanda took Aiden's hand as she queued up to check in their boarding passes.

"Mommy, where exactly are we going? Uncle Elias promised to take me—"

Before he could finish speaking, she interrupted him. "I'll go with you wherever you want to in the future, but let's not trouble Uncle Elias anymore."

"Mommy..."

"Be good and line up, Aiden. Hold on to your boarding pass. The pretty woman will check it later."

"Oh, okay..." He felt his mommy's emotions were a little off, but he dared not ask more questions.

It would be their turn soon; only two people were in front of them in the line. Yet, at that moment, Aiden was looking around him and suddenly noticed a familiar figure in the crowd.

He frowned as he studied the tall figure before realizing who it was. He excitedly waved his little arm at Elias, who was some distance away, then shouted, "Uncle Elias!"

In an instant, Amanda's expression turned stiff. Uncle Elias? Elias is here?

She froze on the spot, her face pale, and her pupils constricted as she turned to look. Just as expected, she spotted Elias in the crowd-radiant, tall, handsome... and furious.

"What a coincidence, Uncle Elias! Are you here to board a plane too?" Aiden was still waving his little arm at Elias.

Amanda had the urge to cover Aiden's mouth, but it was too late. Oh, shoot... Our escape plan... failed. How do I even get out of this? It's impossible.

When Elias heard his son's adorable voice, he whipped his head around and spotted his targets. In a few seconds, he experienced the joy of recovering something he lost and the relief resulted from a near miss.

The man's anger exploded in an instant. He suppressed the rage in his chest as he walked toward them.

Aiden, however, was waving at him innocently. The child was truly blameless, for he did not know anything, not even where he was heading.
