Chapter 195 Aiden Went to the Police Station

Elias looked at Howard's furious behavior and stayed silent.

Sometime later, he slowly got up. Without another word, he turned around and left the study. Howard watched Elias leave, then snorted in anger and sat back in his chair, panting heavily.

Elias stood in the yard of the Winters Manor, turning back to glance at the window of the study upstairs.

At that time, he couldn't determine if Howard had hidden the child. He felt a migraine coming on when he wondered how he should tell Amanda about this.

The man's slender fingers pinched between his eyebrows. He had no idea where he should start looking.

He should probably start from the amusement park.

Thus, Elias' sleepless night began...

Early the next morning, at North No. 1, Amanda slowly opened her eyes. She didn't dare check the time. If it were still night, she would have a long and torturous wait ahead of her. She looked beside the bed, her eyes filled with disappointment. There was no Aiden sprawling on the bed looking at her.

Can it be that Howard refused to give the child back? Hasn't Elias convinced his grandfather yet?

She was beginning to suspect that Elias was in cahoots with Howard and that they were working together to take the child away from her.

Amanda closed her eyes again, but she couldn't go to sleep. So, she grabbed her phone and glanced at it, surprised to see that it was already 8.00AM.

Why hasn't Aiden appeared in front of my bed?

Amanda sat up and found Elias' number in her contacts list. She hesitated, wondering if she should call him.

She knew that if she called him right now, the man would only give her excuses, but she couldn't help it as she dialed the number...

Beep... Beep...

When the call went through, the man's low voice sounded over the phone. "You're awake."

"How is it? Do you have any news about Aiden?" She was slightly looking forward to Elias' answer. Would he tell her the truth or continue lying to her? One second.

Two seconds.

Three seconds.

Just as expected, the man answered, "No, we're still looking."

Hah...

Between Amanda and Howard, Elias still chose to defend Howard and continued lying to Amanda.

Amanda asked, "Then when will you replace him? I miss him so, so much. I couldn't sleep well at all last night."

"I'm sorry, Amanda, but I'll do my best. We should replace him soon."

"All right, got it."

After hanging up, Amanda shoved the blanket aside, then went to the bathroom to wash up.

She stood at the washstand and looked at her reflection in the mirror. She looked like she had slept the whole night away, but her slumber was riddled with nightmares. She even seemed a little haggard. "Aiden, do you miss Mommy?" She posed the question to her reflection in the mirror.

Elias looked at his phone, which was still displaying the ended call. Amanda's emotions seemed off somewhat.

After investigating the whole night, he realized that the child truly wasn't with Howard. Where else would Aiden be?

After racking his brains through the night, he still couldn't figure out how a three-year-old would disappear in the surveillance footage. He looked through all the surveillance cameras from all sorts of angles in the amusement park, but there was no trace of the child ever since the merry-go-round stopped.

Yacob went back to the office with some breakfast he bought.

"Mr. Winters, you should take a break. You've been checking the surveillance footage all night." Yacob placed the food on the couch in the reception area.

Elias put a hand to his forehead as he leaned against the office desk, closing his eyes to rest. He had a splitting headache. After staring at surveillance videos for the whole night, his vision was getting blurry. "Did you get any news on your side?"

Yacob didn't say a word, which meant that there was no news. A hint of disappointment flashed across Elias' dark eyes.

His phone rang again. It was a call from Howard this time. He looked at the incoming call on the screen, unwilling to answer the call. In the end, however, he still picked up. "Grandpa..."

"You b*stard, have you found the child?"

"No."

"What? It has been a whole night, but you still haven't found a mere child? Look through the Winterses' enemies again and see if it might be revenge kidnapping."

"Got it! I'm still looking, so I'm hanging up now."

On the other end of the line, Howard complained again, saying, "I'll be waiting for you at the manor! Tell me as soon as you get any news. You can also ask me for help if you need a particular connection." "Yeah. Okay."

Elias can now confirm that Aiden truly wasn't with Howard, or Howard wouldn't be so anxious.

But where did Aiden go?

Meanwhile, at the police station, an adorable boy sat on a chair, sucking on a bottle of yogurt in his hands as his short legs swung in midair.

"Are you still hungry? Do you want some more?" A policewoman crouched down patiently.

The little guy looked upset, however. "Miss, I'm already three years old. Please don't talk to me in such a childish tone."

The policewoman was a little speechless. This kid has quite a temper.

"What's your name?"

"You've asked me the same thing for the whole night. My name is Aiden Bailey, and my mommy is Amanda Bailey. My dad... I don't know what his name is," Aiden repeated earnestly.

Last night, Dick took him to the amusement park. After the merry-go-round ride, he snuck away and managed to replace a police station nearby.

Amanda once taught him that if he got lost outside, he could ask the police for help.

The policewoman asked, "Do you know your house address? There are too many women with the same name as your mommy, so we can't narrow it down. Do you remember any buildings near your house?" Aiden remembered everything except for the address.

They had moved quite a few times after coming back, so he had no clue about the address of the new house they had recently moved into.

"I don't know the address... I thought I only had to remember my mommy's name."

"Then do you remember your mommy's phone number?"

The policewoman asked again. She couldn't get any replaceings after enquiring for the entire night. Instead, the little guy freeloaded in the police station all night and even made all sorts of unreasonable requests. Aiden said, "Yes, but I only remember the number of that phone. My mommy has a lot of phones, so I don't remember the other ones."

The policewoman sighed in exasperation. "But darling, that number you remembered is empty."

The confused child had recited the phone number confidently, but the number was no longer in use.

Too many women had the same name as his mother, and the police were still trying to pinpoint the correct person.

The phone number was invalid, and Aiden couldn't remember the address. It truly was a difficult task to help him replace his parents.

The policewoman looked at an old policeman at the side. "Sir, why don't we post a photo or a video online and ask for help? The news can spread wider that way. If we can't replace the child's parents, we can only hope that the parents come to us."

The old policeman had been playing with the kid for the entire night, so he was sleepy as well. He yawned and said, "Go ahead, then. I can't hold out any longer; this kid is too energetic."
