Chapter 235 How Pretentious!

Back inside the car, Elias put on his seatbelt and could not help but take another close look at the picture. The girl remained utterly familiar to him. "Where have I seen you before..." he muttered.

Since he still had no recollection, he placed the frame on the passenger seat and drove away. Suddenly, his phone began vibrating, so he glanced at it and saw it was from Amanda. How astonishing was it that she was still willing to call him despite their situation?

He hesitated momentarily before picking up the call. As he expected, the voice that sounded was not hers but Aiden's. "Daddy! What are you doing?"

Hearing his son's voice, the man unconsciously smiled. "I'm driving. I'm heading home to sleep."

"Home? Are you coming back to Mommy's home?" The child's voice was filled with excitement.

The man smiled somewhat resignedly. "No, I'm busy lately, so I'm sleeping at the office."

"But you said you are going home to sleep. Is your office also your home? Hmph..."

When Elias heard the child's angry retort, he smiled even brighter. "Why aren't you asleep? Don't you have school tomorrow?"

"No, I don't! You don't care about me at all. Tomorrow's the weekend, so I don't have school. Can you play with me tomorrow? I don't want to stay home."

That made Elias frown. He had to meet a few clients tomorrow, so he might not have the time to accompany Aiden, but... he did not want to reject his son's request either. After all, he had already missed four years of his son's life, so why waste any more time?

"Alright, you be good and go to bed. I'll be there to bring you out once you wake up. How about that?"

"Yay! You're the best, Daddy."

"Go to bed now. Good night."

"Good night, Daddy."

Once the call ended, the man smiled happily. Everything that happened recently was troublesome, and only hearing the kid's voice could elicit a genuine smile on his face.

After returning to the office, Elias placed the picture frame on the side and dialed a number. "Come over to get the photo and restore the girl's face twenty years later. Give it to me as soon as you can." Once he hung up, his thoughts fell onto the picture again. Stephanie did not look much similar to her sister, and Amelia looked utterly familiar to someone he seemed to know. He stared at the picture for a long time, thinking the little girl was somehow close to him....

The following morning at Northern No. 1, Aiden woke up and obediently washed up to change himself. Then, he went to have breakfast and sat in the living room waiting patiently. Selina was shocked by the scene and wondered what happened to the little fellow to make him suddenly so obedient.

The bedroom door opened, and Amanda came out, yawning. Just as she was asking what was for breakfast, she noticed the neatly dressed Aiden sitting on the couch and was shocked for seconds. Then, she turned to Selina, asking, "Why did you wake him up so early? He doesn't have school today."

Selina shrugged, looking like she had nothing to do with this. "Not on me. Aiden woke up early and prepared all on his own. He's been this way since he finished his breakfast. I don't know what's going on either."

What's this kid up to? Amanda narrowed her eyes and sat on the couch, eyeing the child. And he specially wore his tiny suit? It's like he's going on a date or something. Is there a need to be this formal? The suit he was wearing was the one she had previously forced him to wear because he looked handsome in it. The kid was reluctant to comply back then and even vowed never to wear it again. What's up with him today? Why did he obediently wear this suit? He does look cute and handsome in it, but he's so tiny...

"Aiden Bailey, what are you up to? Why are you wearing a suit? Are you going on a date or something?"

"Mommy, you're annoying me. Eat your breakfast. Miss Selina worked hard to make it." Then, he looked at Selina. "Miss Selina, what time is it? Is it still morning?" "Uhm... Of course, it's still morning. It's only past 7.00AM."

"Then, why isn't he here?" The kid clearly remembered his father saying he could bring him out in the morning, but it was already time, so where was he?

Amanda asked, "Whom are you waiting for?"

Feeling aggrieved, the kid pouted his lips and was in no mood to talk to her. He now suspected that his father had forgotten about him, just like his mommy always forgot what she promised. The kid angrily mumbled, "Hmph! Adults are always like that. They don't keep their word, and he said he would come to pick me up when I opened my eyes this morning. Liar!"

"What are you mumbling about? What about grownups? Aiden, I demand that you make things clear!" Amanda was confused as she watched the kid change from being happy to being excited and then becoming disappointed and aggrieved.

Why is he acting up? And he's wearing his suit. What special day is it?

Just as she was wondering, the kid dejectedly got off the couch, seemingly not in the mood to entertain anyone, and even seemed like he was about to cry.

Noticing something wrong, she approached her son and embraced him. "Baby, tell me, what's the matter? Did someone give you a hard time?"

Right then, the doorbell rang. Aiden suddenly jumped off his mother's lap and ran toward the door with glistening eyes. He then opened up with his tiny hands. "Daddy! You're finally here!"

His screams almost scared Amanda and Selina, who both shot up and discovered it was Elias. Instantly, Amanda looked grim as she realized her son was all dressed up and woke up early for his arrival. It's just Elias. Does he need to dress up so nicely?

Truth be told, she was somewhat jealous. Especially when she remembered how Elias, the sc*mbag, said he did not want his son at the parking lot back then. Now he was pretending to be a loving father, lying to Aiden.

When Elias saw Aiden opening the door, he smiled and bent over to pick him up. "Let me take care of Aiden today. You guys can rest for the day," he informed the two women.

Amanda initially wanted to say something but stopped because she did not want to argue with him in front of their child. Meanwhile, Selina smiled and replied, "Thank you."

"Come on, let's go." He left with the child in his arms.

"Where are we going, Daddy?"

"First stop is my company. That's where I work."

While listening to the conversation between the two, Amanda unhappily plopped onto the couch and crossed her arms, muttering, "How pretentious of him! Acting like a loving father."
