Chapter 234 The Other Daughter From the Allegras

Meanwhile, Elias sat there and frowned. Amelia? Lost for twenty years? Does that mean the Allegras have another elder daughter but lost her?

Jack glanced at him and felt humiliated, so he slammed his hand on the table and roared, "We're talking about Steph, so why are you mentioning Amy? What does her disappearance have to do with me? Do you dare say that it has nothing to do with you? We only have Stephanie now, so of course, I must replace someone reliable for her to spend her life with!"

At that point, Edith was sobbing. She could never control her tears whenever Amelia was brought up. "I miss Amy so much. I don't even know if she's still alive or doing well....."

"That's enough. Don't you replace it embarrassing to argue in front of Elias?" Cassandra could not stand it either and chastised the old couple.

At that moment, Stephanie could not hold back her emotions any longer. "Enough! Can the two of you stop mentioning my sister's name before me? Is it my fault that she's gone? Why do you have to put all the pressure on me because she disappeared? What have I done wrong to deserve this?"

Ever since Amelia disappeared, her mother had been devastated, and her father had never stopped looking for her. He had thought of many ways and searched for twenty years but found nothing.

There were times when Stephanie felt like she was Amelia's replacement. It was because Amelia disappeared that her parents gave all their love to her. Would she need to return the love once her elder sister returned?

"Steph..." Edith stopped crying and stared dazedly at her daughter, who ran away with her face in her hands.

Meanwhile, Elias seemed to see an opportunity. He narrowed his eyes, thinking that Jack was an incompetent father for not being able to replace his daughter after twenty years. However, if he could locate Amelia Allegra, then Jack might be willing to hasten their plan.

Otherwise, if Jack waited until they finished their wedding to take back the shares, Anna might have already transferred all those assets to offshore accounts.

Elias slowly rose to his feet. "I'll look for her." Soon, he left the dining room as well.

Stephanie cried while she ran. While standing in the garden, she looked at the sea of flowers but could not stop crying.

A while later, a tall man appeared behind her. She looked behind and thought Elias was here to comfort her, so she chastised him, "Don't try to comfort me! Leave me alone!"

The man sneered before taking a seat on the wooden bench. "You must be mistaken. I have no intention of comforting you." He did not care whether Stephanie was feeling down because he just wanted some useful information.

Puzzled, she thought she had misheard. Was it not natural for a man to take the initiative to comfort a sad woman?

"Then, why are you here?"

The man replied, "I just want to ask you about your sister. You have an elder sister, right? Is her name Amelia?" "Why do you care? She's been missing for twenty years. Don't tell me you can replace her," Stephanie rebuked. Smiling, Elias offered, "What if I can? It'd be a good deed for your family."

When she heard that, she wiped her tears and turned to stare at the man. "If you can replace Amelia, my father will take away all the effort he put into me, and everyone will be able to relax." "That's precisely what I want. By then, you can live the life that you want too."

"Then, do it! She's been gone for twenty years, so where are you going to look? My father has been looking for twenty years but found nothing." She did not believe Elias could succeed.

He asked again, "So, you gotta tell me something about Amelia. Give me a picture or something."

"Amelia was 6 when she disappeared. If she were still alive, she would be 26 this year, so I don't have a picture of what she looks like now."

"I meant when she was younger. I can use modern technology to estimate what she looks like now," he explained.

Slowly, Stephanie realized the serious man radiated an air of reliability, causing her to spill all the details naturally. "I do have a picture of when we were young, but it's hard to be sure whether Amelia is still alive..."

"Then, we can only hope she is. As long as she's alive, she can save us." Elias smiled slightly.

After a while, Stephanie led Elias to her room to get the picture while Jack watched everything from the side. He believed he did not choose the wrong man for his daughter. It was almost impossible for someone to calm the crying Stephanie, but Elias did with just a few words. "Steph, I hope you can understand my good intentions." He sighed.

He had lost one of his daughters, so he could only rest assured once he ensured his other daughter had settled down.

Inside the bedroom.

It was the first time Stephanie brought a man into her bedroom, so she was somewhat uneasy. She sat on her bed and grabbed a picture frame with a photo of Amelia and her before giving it to the man. "Here this is the only photo I have with Amelia. I was three, and she was six, which was the year she disappeared."

After receiving the picture frame and taking a look, Elias felt his heart skip a beat. He felt the girl in the picture seemed familiar for some unknown reason like he had seen her eyes before...

Standing under the sun, the girl in the picture had cute ponytails and an ice cream in her hand. Her smile was bright and adorable. Why does this face look familiar? Have I seen her before? But I can't remember where...

"Can I have this picture? So that it's easier for me to replace someone to reconstruct her face."

"Sure, take it. If you can replace Amelia, I'll admit that you're a brilliant man." Stephanie wore a look of disbelief. She did not believe Elias would be able to replace Amelia. After all, it had been twenty years. He replied, "I'll give it a try."

Therefore, he brought the picture frame when he left, but Jack's voice suddenly came behind him. "Elias, what are you doing with that?"

Stopping in his tracks, Elias looked at Jack and answered, "Little Steph looked adorable, so I'm taking this for my desk."

"You don't have to hide the truth from me. You wish to replace Amy, right?" Jack smiled.

This cunning old man. Nothing goes past him, thought Elias.

Jack added, "Don't waste your efforts. You won't replace her. I've already searched for twenty years."

"Let's give it a try. Perhaps there will be a miracle." Elias then left with the picture frame.

However, Jack watched him leave and sighed heavily.
