Evelyn POV

I wanted to leave immediately but I needed to be clever, I needed to make sure everything was

planned correctly. My warriors were ready to go after a hearty breakfast and I made it very clear

there would be no stopping, that we would drive straight. Only stopping to refuel the cars.

The Red Stone pack was several hours away and I was hoping to get there just after midday.

Having taken a quarter of the warriors with me, I called upon the neighbouring pack that was part of the alliance to lend their warriors to help defend my borders.

My wolf was anxious that we didn’t leave our pack members vulnerable and she was right, we needed to plan meticulously.

My biggest debate was whether to take Elspeth with us or not. Noah wanted her to stay here but I just wouldn’t be able to function as a strong alpha without her near me. With Rex taken, I needed

her close.

We took six large SUV cars. Five had the warriors in and our car leading the convoy had me, Elspeth, Noah and Donnie.

The drive was horrendous, it was the longest journey of my life and my wolf was struggling to stay still. She was making me fidgety and it was Elspeth who kept her calm by reminding her that Rex was safe and well.

I never thought I would be back here, back on these grounds. I didn’t need Donnie to announce we were close by, I knew instantly when we had reached the surrounding lands

This time I have brought fire to his pack and I would make sure it burnt strong for taking my son.

Our arrival by border patrol was noticed long before we arrived to the gate. I could see wolves. running along the side of the road which was covered in trees and bushes, keeping a watchful eye on our approaching vehicles. This was the King’s pack after all, his security had always been tight

Donnie stops the car as we reach the manned gate and winds down his window.

“We are here to see the Alpha King!” He brazenly declares earning a growl from the guard.

“Is he expecting such a convoy? I think not!” The guard growls back at Donnie.

I don’t have time for this. I lean forward so that I can now be seen.

“Tell your Alpha that Luna Evelyn is at the gates, demanding entry!”

“Luna?” The man gasps, my appearance shocking him. His eyes glaze over as he tries to reach Reuben or Nate through the pack link.

“He will grant access but to ensure your vehicles are escorted.”

The Red Stone warriors didn’t give us an inch of space to take advantage, to launch an attack. We were escorted down slowly towards the heart of the pack, to outside of the alpha home Warriors. walked in front of the car to set the pace that we had to follow.

As we slowly entered the pack, I notice pack members coming out of their houses to watch our

slow procession. They can’t see me through the tinted glass windows, but I can see them. I look around the pack grounds, I can’t see children playing near the alpha home like they once did, I‘ used to enjoy talking to them and hearing about their school days. Things here seemed different somehow, almost dull and grey. Not blossoming and thriving as t were when I left. Had I caused this onto them? Had my revenge actually reached so far as to hurt the innocent pack member of the Red Stone pack. That was never my intention, they weren’t involved in the death of my parents.

Deep breath in, deep breath out!

This is what I repeat to myself as I slowly open the back door to the vehicle. His sweet leathery scent is overpowering now that I am back on his grounds.

I order my men to stand in the courtyard gathered behind me. Elspeth was being securely held in Noah’s arms on my left and Donnie flanked me on my right.

Pack members seem to have followed us to the courtyard, where they stood together whispering about my return, how I was back from the dead. That is was a blessing the true Luna had returned. I have a feeling I was about to rain on their parade. That this isn’t the resurrection from death that they dreamed of. I wasn’t here to return to them. I’ll make it very clear, I’m here for my son and my son alone.

Reuben POV

I had been up late after being secretly informed that the Silver Moon pack announced that they had been attacked. I had spies dotted around and this news reached me in the early hours of the

morning. Nate and I were trying to source information on what had happened and who might have

attacked them.

I contacted Alpha Ivo at the Blue Moon pack for confirmation but he denied knowing of any

reports.

I was tired recently, I wasn’t sleeping well. Evelyn’s face often tormented my dreams in some kind of parallel dimension where she was knocking on a sealed coffin pleading for release. Every time I open the coffin shouting for her, her corpse–like body would spring out at me causing me to

abruptly wake up.

Last night was no different and the interrupted sleep was screwing with my mind.

A

I skipped training this morning in favour of a lay in. I don’t think I’ve ever done that. I’ve always been part of morning training, been leading morning training or more recently watching morning training from the sidelines. But Nate and I didn’t finish our research until around 6am and judging by Michelle or Cassandra bashing around in the kitchen, it was now lunch time.

“Alpha!” My mind was already stirring, knowing I had wasted an entire morning.

“Alpha!” Nate roars at me through the mind–link.

“Fucking hell Nate!” I growl back at him, he’s pissed me off for forgetting his place. Why wasn’t he

asleep?

“What is so urgent?”

“The men on the gate. They claim the Luna has arrived with Silver Moon pack warriors. They

want access.”

“What? Grant access!” Shit, my wolf channels forward pushing me out of bed. An excitement taking over him that was uncharacteristically not like him.

“Order for them to be escorted slowly to the courtyard.” I command to Nate.

“Yes Alpha!” Nate confirms he understands my orders before cutting the link.

Fuck, she was here. My legal threat seemed to have done the trick after all. The Silver Moon Alpha was handing her back over to me, without a fight. Some fucking almighty alpha! Turns on her as soon as I remind him of a legal agreement in place. Even though the ones that agreed were now dead. I knew my dad was at least useful for something, his contract almost unbreakable.

I throw on some clothes, a T–shirt and some jeans will do. Just in case this turns nasty and I need to shift. I didn’t like warriors from an enemy pack being on my grounds, why did they need to come? If not to try and stir up trouble. I had to be prepared and I mind–link my warriors to join me

out front.

I was pacing in my office, the slow escorted ride down will take some time and I didn’t want to be waiting for them, didn’t want them to think they were welcome.

I could hear whispers from outside, gasps and even cries of jubilation that their beloved luna had

returned.

I take a deep breath in before placing my arrogant cocky alpha mask on and walk out of the front door. I walk past my warriors, who have congregated as ordered at the front of the alpha house. İ push past them, until I reach the front and replace her.

She stood at the front, in the middle. Her beauty took my breath away but something was troubling her, I could sense it in her eyes. Eyes that hadn’t slept. She didn’t want to return, she

wanted to stay away from here, from me.

She was flanked by the head warrior Donnie, with around twenty–five warriors standing behind her. I suppress a growl as Noah has flanked her other side, holding their daughter tightly in his

arms.

I felt very torn and I didn’t understand why. Words were struggling to be formed, and as her scent finally reaches my nose, I had an overwhelming need to touch her.

I take a step closer to those green eyes that were locked on me before Noah growls at me. I scoff at him, like he could take me o? I growl back, not appreciating the fact that they have entered my pack and made an aggressive move towards me.

Noah very carefully places his most precious item into the protective arms of an older she–wolf behind him before taking a step towards me.

His movement is stopped by Evelyn who places her arm out, hitting him in the stomach, to prevent him coming any closer. Oh yes, they remember what happened the last time he challenged me.

I can hear her high heels racing towards the front of the house, she had been in the garden doing some kind of yoga shit…why you need to do yoga in heels is beyond me. I hadn’t told her that Evelyn had actually been alive all this time and hiding at the Silver Moon pack.

I groan internally knowing I was going to get an ear full for missing out that big detail.

Vicky joins me in the courtyard, standing on my right. It takes her a few seconds to recognise the. person standing in front of her.

The Luna of the Red Stone pack.

“Evelyn…” She gasps under her breath before a growl emits from her chest.

Evelyn doesn’t move/ if anything her back straightens and her shoulders stretch out. She wasn’t the same Evelyn that I married. She was different. strong. But I could sense that something ached her heart.

“The Alpha of the Silver Moon Pack demands a meeting with the Red Stone Alpha!” The head warrior Donnie boldly declares as all the warrior’s demeanours change at the same time. Moving as one. They were well trained.

Before I get the chance to respond Vicky answers for me.

“Who are you to demand anything from the Red Stone Alpha? Where is your Alpha anyway? I am the Luna here…” She takes a step forward before I yank her back by her elbow. She wasn’t the Luna hefe, I had made this very clear and now she’s fucking named herself as such in front of the actual Luna.

A smirk from Evelyn rattles Vicky even more to the point of her wolf fighting her for control

“Correct me if I am wrong, but as I am alive, I believe I am still the Luna of the Red Stone pack?”

Evelyn seethes out, not taking her eyes of the female wolf close to shifting next to me.

Whispers and gasps erupt from the pack members watching this spectacle unfold before them,

I’ve had enough of this. Enough of the drama.

“I will speak with your Alpha, but he has failed to show!” I ensure my voice is strong, loud and

heard by all.

“The Alpha is very much here.” Noah meets my tone of voice only for Vicky to start laughing like

a banshee.

“Where is he then?” She links her arm into mine.

“Not he…” Evelyn takes a step forward, her eyes flashing to that of her wolf as she notices Vicky’s

arm linked in mine.

O

“She! I am the Alpha of the Silver Moon Pack!”
