NELL

I smirk as I watch the lifeless body of the wolf fall to the ground.

He meant something to that panther, judging by how her face looked. I look over the circle of vampires and I see her. She stares at me, and I can feel her power here.

“She’s powerful,” says Amir as he stands next to me. I can feel his anxiety kicking in.

I think he doubts we can take her on. But I know we are fine as long as the young panther is with us. She won’t come near us. She won’t harm the child.

The panther’s stood rooted to the spot, staring at me. But she falls to her knees, and I can see tears running down her cheeks. Another girl runs over to her, her eyes blotchy as she wraps her in a hug.

The wolf with a girl shifts back and stares at me, and I can feel his anger rolling off him. I can still feel emotions. They are slightly rusty, but I know most of them. My power might sense emotions ever since I took and killed Clara centuries ago.

“Grandpa,” says a small voice to the side of me.

I glance at the child; she looks like Clara and her mother.

“You killed my grandpa,” she screams at me as tears flow down her face.

I can’t help but smirk.

The vampire holding her lets her go as she runs over to the dead body and lands on her knees right in front of me. She places her hands on the human form and leans into him, and she cries louder.

I step back, taking my eyes off the child to watch the scene unfold around us; we are winning this war.

I can feel the alpha’s aura. It is strong, but it’s not coming from the old alpha who is tearing every rogue and vampire to get to us.

I smirk.

I glance over at Amir, who is holding the hybrid.

The hybrid stares at the young girl; something is off about him. I can feel it, but I don’t know what.

“We need to get out of here now,” says Amir, through clenched teeth.

I look at my mate; he’s right. I can feel more power surging, and it’s not coming from me.

I glance back up and notice the panther. Her eyes are glowing green as she comes towards every vampire that runs straight at her. Her one hand is a black claw, ripping throats out, or she rams her hand into their chests, pulling out their hearts. Her eyes connect with mine; I can see rage fueling her. But there was something else, grief.

I smirk.

The wolf I killed loved that panther; he must have been a family member.

I turn to Amir, who has watched the panther with an amused look on his face.

I glance down, and the hybrid stares back at me.

His eyes are blood red, like he wants to eat me.

The hybrid uses his strength and pushes Amir back full force, sending him flying.

I quickly move closer to the young panther child and grab her.

I lift her off the dead wolf and place my arm around her, ensuring my blade is nearer to her.

“GET OFF ME,” she screams, trying to wriggle away, but I hold my strength around her.

“MY MUMMY WILL KILL YOU,” she yells.

I turn to face the hybrid as he stares at me, hissing and ready to pounce on me. But he cocks his head to the side as he moves. I watch his every move.

What the hell is happening to him?

I know we tortured him when we had him. We wanted him to be our killing machine, but the feeling I’m getting from him is weird. He stares past me, but after a few moments, the young panther and I turn around as he looks at me like his next prey.

Amir tackles him, but the hybrid is strong, attacking Amir with full force with everything he has. He jumps on him, but two vampires come and tackle him.

I watch as I can feel the vampires that formed a circle around us, thinning.

Amir gets up, pure anger on his face. His fangs come down as he stares at the hybrid. “When we get to leave here, I will use your panther friend for my next meal,” he says. I look back at the hybrid; what my mate said to him hit a nerve.

I watched as he shifted into his wolf and completely shredded the vampires holding him. The hybrid moves quickly and runs behind me.

I glanced around once more, realizing that people were standing behind me.

I can feel the power and feel everyone’s eyes on me.

I stare at the people, placing my blade to the young panther’s throat.

“TAKE ONE MORE STEP, AND I WILL KILL HER,” I yell.

In front of me was the young alpha, a panther, a witch, and more wolves.

The hybrid had shifted back and stood next to one of the alpha wolves. But they all shifted back into human form, and the emotions that came off every person were pure rage.

Something was ultimately off with all this.

The power was strong.

I stared at the two young alphas standing close to one another.

I can see the young wolf and his mate, which the elder made us use. The wolf was an alpha. The girl looks at me, her face full of emotion, but she stares.

The three wolves part from each other, well, mainly the two young alphas, as a panther with glowing green eyes stares back at me. Her eyes were full of every emotion as she made her way towards us, but she stopped a few yards away. She shifts back into her human form.

I can’t help but stare at her. Her features are entirely the same as Clara’s all those years ago.

Images of Clara flood my mind; I killed her for her magic. I stared at the panther; I wanted her power to harness. I wanted to be more powerful once again, like all those centuries ago. My mate and I wanted to be the most powerful supernatural beings in the world.

Amir was standing beside us as we faced the last part together. I keep the young panther close to me with my blade pressing against her neck.

Amir places his hand on my shoulder, and I glance at him. His eyes are full of love for me; I notice all the vampires that circled us are now backing away.

What the hell is going on?
