The Supreme Man: Took Everything in Power -
Chapter 721 Righteousness Over Family
"I can speak on behalf of the Nicholsons and assure you that it's not your fault." Kingsley neither confirmed nor denied, hoping to alleviate some of her guilt.
Shannon was taken aback, her hand instinctively covering her mouth, leaving her speechless for a moment.
Cassius' expression mirrored the astonishment.
Both of them sensed there was a significant connection between Kingsley and the family that tragically perished years ago.
"I'm so sorry." After a moment of silence, Shannon's voice carried sincere remorse. "I apologize for how I treated you."
Her apologies flowed genuinely, directed at Kingsley.
Then, her teary gaze shifted to Cassius. "Cassius, Mr. Nicholson's visit is about asking you to return to the martial world, right? To make amends for our past selfishness, you must wholeheartedly support him and stand by his side."
Cassius' last doubts vanished as he listened to Shannon's words.
He nodded. "Rest assured, from now on, my life belongs to Mr. Nicholson."
As Kingsley observed the couple, his emotions were a whirlwind of complexity.
This encounter not only exposed the mastermind behind the tragic fire but also gained an ally like Cassius. It was far beyond what he had expected.
However, at the same time, the truth behind his parents' deaths became increasingly intricate.
With each revelation, more layers were unveiled, and the web of connections seemed to spread wider, potentially implicating many others.
In light of this, Kingsley's determination strengthened even more.
No matter who lurked behind as the hidden mastermind, Kingsley was resolute in exposing them and exacting revenge for his parents.
And it all started with John Timothy.
With this in mind, Kingsley turned to Shannon and uttered, "Mrs. White, even though you aren't close to your father, I feel it's essential to tell you in advance that I'll avenge the Timothys."
Kingsley considered the fact that Cassius would be joining him in the future, yet he knew that he had to confront his wife's father.
If he didn't clarify this matter beforehand, it could lead to future troubles. Blood ties ran deep, and despite Shannon's resentment toward her father, there must still be some lingering emotions. Upon hearing Kingsley's words, Shannon was taken aback.
Cassius' heart raced, knowing that if Shannon expressed any defense of her father, Kingsley would surely cut him off. That would mean Cassius, as the only person aware of the Ashton Birch incident, might be silenced for good.
Feeling tense, Cassius witnessed Shannon's wistful smile. "He committed grave wrongdoing and must face the consequences. If I were to plead on his behalf, who would seek justice for the family of three who perished in the fire?"
She then looked up at Kingsley.
"All that I ask for is to leave his body intact, so I can give him a proper burial. It would be my way of repaying the twenty years he raised me."
Kingsley had anticipated that Shannon would plead on her father's behalf, but he was surprised by her unwavering sense of righteousness.
Without saying much, Kingsley made a heartfelt promise. "If Cassius joins me, I'll ensure a bright future for him. As for you and Cayden, I'll guarantee your safety, and I won't let the Timothys tear you apart." Shannon wiped her tears and expressed her gratitude. "Thank you, Mr. Nicholson. Let me cook a few more dishes for you. Let's not talk about this anymore."
With that, she stood up and headed back to the kitchen.
Kingsley didn't stop her, understanding that she needed some private moments to shed her tears.
To uphold righteousness and sacrifice her father must have brought tremendous pain to her heart.
Listening to the drone of the kitchen's exhaust fan, mingled with faint sobs, Cassius couldn't help but let out a heavy sigh.
