The Supreme Man: Took Everything in Power -
Chapter 722 Cayden is Missing
"Don't worry, Mr. Nicholson. I know her very well. She has a kind heart, and she would never support evil deeds."
Kingsley patted his shoulder affectionately. "You mentioned that your son has a sharp eye, but it seems you do too. You've found yourself such a wonderful wife!" Cassius grinned. "It runs in the blood."
Soon, Shannon emerged from the kitchen, carrying two plates of stir-fried dishes. Although her eyes were slightly red from crying, she had managed to regain her composure.
It seemed that finally unraveling the burden she had carried for so long had lightened her spirit, and the gloom on her face had subsided.
"Mr. Nicholson, our place is small with only two bedrooms. Is it okay for you to sleep with Cayden tonight?" Shannon posed.
Cassius chimed in quickly, "His room has a double bed, it'll be perfect."
Kingsley nodded warmly. "Of course, I'm not particular about where I sleep. I used to sleep on grass, snow, and mud during the war. I've seen it all."
Shannon uttered, "Alright, then I'll get a blanket for you."
Later on, Kingsley had a few more drinks with Cassius before retiring to Cayden's room.
Cayden had to attend school the next day, so they couldn't sleep in too late.
As Kingsley lay in bed, about to drift off to sleep, Cayden reached out his small hand and gently tapped him. "Uncle Nicholson, are you asleep?" "No, what's the matter?"
Kingsley turned to face him, and in the moonlight shining through the window, he met Cayden's innocent gaze.
"Uncle Nicholson, did my mom cry just now?" Cayden sighed, sounding like a wise little soul. "Uncle Nicholson, can I join your gang? That way, I can protect my mom."
Kingsley fell into a thoughtful silence, gently patting Cayden's head. "You're still a young boy, and you should focus on your studies," he advised.
"But I don't like studying," Cayden pouted. "I want to be like my dad, wandering the world and fighting for justice while protecting my mom."
Speaking softly, Kingsley replied, "There are many ways to be a hero and protect your mother. If you study hard and become an outstanding person when you grow up, that would also be a way to protect her." Cayden blinked, his determination evident in his eyes. "But I still wish to join the martial world."
Knowing that children of his age often start to rebel, Kingsley pondered for a moment before making a promise. "Alright, how about this? When you become the top student in your class, I'll let you join my faction. Deal?"
Cayden's face lit up with excitement. "Really?"
"Absolutely!" Kingsley nodded earnestly. "In our faction, there's a guy named Hades, and I'll have you train with him. He's excellent at training new warriors of the martial world."
Ecstatic that his dream was finally attainable, Cayden threw his arms around Kingsley. "That's great! Starting tomorrow, I'll study hard and top the final exams."
As Kingsley felt Cayden's trust and reliance on him, his heart warmed with indescribable affection.
The next day, Cayden arose early, eager to embrace his educational journey at school.
Cassius and Kingsley were deep in discussion, making plans to put the Gemstone Stationery Shop up for sale in a couple of days. They intended to return to Cleapolis together, accompanied by Shannon and Cayden.
The clock had just struck nine in the morning when they were seated on the sofa, engrossed in discussing the primary business focus of their new faction. However, their conversation came to an abrupt halt as Shannon hurriedly rushed back home from the stationery store.
In her trembling hands, she clutched a cell phone, her eyes brimming with tears, and her voice filled with panic. "Something's gone wrong. Cayden is missing!"
