The Sweet Pursuit by Golden Autumn -
Chapter 15
Suzy turned back and looked at the strange man in confusion.
The man took two steps forward and looked down at Suzy as his fox-like eyes flickered in the sunlight. "Even if you can't promise your heart to me, the least you can do is buy me a meal!"
After he finished speaking, he stretched out his right hand and said, "Let's get to know each other. My name is Sherman Miller!"
Suzy looked at the well-defined hand in front of her but did not shake it. She merely turned around and continued to walk forward.
Sherman was startled and quickly followed suit. "Hey, didn't you understand a word I said?"
Suzy stopped and looked at him. "I do, but I don't have to buy you a meal. I could've solved that issue without you just now. We merely met by chance, so there's no need for us to get to know each other. That's all from me. I'm heading to class!"
Afterward, Suzy turned around and left without looking back.
Sherman stood there, looking at the woman's back. He did not return to his senses for quite a long time.
Was he rejected by a little girl?!
Even if she did not know who he was, he should have been invincible with just his appearance alone. He did not need to rely on his identity as a Miller. How could she be so arrogant as to reject him?! Sherman scoffed in disbelief!
...
On Tuesday the next day, Suzy only had one class in the afternoon. When she left the school, she saw many women gathered around discussing something. She walked to the bus stop and heard a woman next to her shout excitedly, "Is it really Sherman Miller?"
"Yes. I've seen photos of him with my sister Sammy. It's definitely him."
Suzy subconsciously glanced in the direction where everyone was looking and paused.
There was a Rolls-Royce Phantom Roadster parked by the school gate. The backseat of the car was full of bright red roses, which was particularly eye-catching. What was even more eye-catching was the man sitting in the car. He was wearing a white shirt, a slim-fitting vest, and gold-rimmed thin-framed glasses. His exquisite and gorgeous facial features made him look like a prince from a cartoon.
Sherman Miller had become increasingly famous in River City in the past two years. The Millers were a famous wealthy family in the city, and Sherman was the only heir to the Miller family. However, he was not famous for his impressive achievements in the business world but because he never stopped having scandals with female celebrities.
He was handsome, fickle, and extravagant in terms of spending. Moreover, Sherman still had business acumen. This was the label given to him by the people of River City.
At this moment, the prince from the cartoon stepped out of the car with his long legs and walked toward Suzy with a red rose in his hand.
There were shrieks coming from the group of women, and their eyes were focused on Suzy. They were either filled with jealousy or envy.
There was a Bentley parked on the opposite road. Jessie looked out the window and said, "Isn't that Ms. Shirley?"
George was sitting in the backseat and looking down at his document. Hearing Jessie's words, he did not realize which 'Ms. Shirley' Jessie was referring to and raised his head inadvertently. Seeing that it was Suzy, his eyes deepened and landed on Suzy's somewhat astonished expression.
The driver who was supposed to pick Enoah from school had something to do today. Since George and Jessie just happened to pass by River University, they came to pick her up. At the moment, the car was parked here as they waited for Enoah to come out. Seeing someone confessing their love to Suzy was an unexpected surprise.
Jessie explained aloud, "Sherman Miller is Wendell Miller's son. He grew up abroad and came back the year you went abroad. In the past two years, he joined the Miller family's Zeron Group and did a great job. By the way, it's Sherman who's competing with us for the land under Goldenwater Bridge."
George nodded lightly. His dark eyes appeared calm as he watched Sherman walk toward Suzy one step at a time.
Suzy was indeed a little taken aback. It was not surprising that Sherman knew she was a student of River University, but he came here to wait for her today, indicating that he already knew which department and class she was in. What on earth did he want?
She simply did not believe that such a person had fallen in love with her at first sight.
Suzy looked on as Sherman approached her. Her face remained composed as usual. Her glistening eyes were so clear and did not contain a hint of surprise. There was also no deliberate indifference, only a look of vigilance that was not easily discernible.
Sherman stopped in front of her amid the gasps and sighs all around.
His foxy eyes smiled at her as they glittered. He looked at Suzy and said in a low voice, "Perhaps you won't believe me, but I fell in love with you at first sight. Since you refused to buy me a meal yesterday, how about giving me the honor of treating you to a meal instead?"
Suzy heard someone in the group of women whispering, "My heart stopped beating! Quick, call 911!"
Suzy looked at the flower Sherman held up in front of her and shook her head lightly. "I'm sorry, but I have something else to do!"
Sherman seemed a little surprised but smiled gently. "It's just a meal and doesn't mean anything. Think of it as appeasing me for my lack of sleep from thinking of you all night."
There were screams going off all around.
Beautiful, rich, and affectionate. He was the kind of man who could only be seen on TV. The scene made the onlookers' go wild instantly. They were even more excited than the protagonist.
Sensing that someone was taking a photo, Suzy was somewhat irritated. Her face was still, but her attitude was more determined now. "I'm really sorry."
She was about to leave when Sherman stopped in front of her first. His eyes were cool, and his lips were curled into a smile. He lowered his voice to say, "Don't be like this. Too many people are watching, so leave me with a sense of dignity here. I'll take you home after dinner."
Suzy did not want to get entangled in this anymore. She refused again and continued to move forward.
Sherman frowned and subconsciously grabbed her arm.
Suzy immediately took a step back. She quickly looked at Sherman. Her eyes were no longer tranquil and calm but stern.
Sherman was stunned for a moment. The woman's eyes were filled with warning and irritation. She was not playing hard to get. She simply found him annoying.
His red lips were slightly pursed, and he took a step back. "Okay, no meals. Then accept these at least."
He pointed to his car that was filled with flowers behind him.
Suzy's attitude was cold. "I don't want them!"
"Then would you like us to continue to argue here so others can watch?" Sherman said with a low smile and a hint of smugness in his eyes.
He could sense that Suzy did not like the attention.
Suzy took a deep breath. "Do I have to?"
Sherman's eyes were burning hot with persistence. He said teasingly, "Yep! I won't let you go unless you do!"
Inside the Bentley, Jessie was frowning as he said, "Sherman appears to be making things difficult for Ms. Shirley."
George could sense it as well. A dark glint flashed in his eyes, and his hand was already on the door handle. Just as he was about to open the car door, he saw Suzy suddenly turning and walking toward Sherman's sports car. He stopped moving, wanting to see what she was going to do.
Sherman's eyes followed Suzy as well as if he was watching a good show. There were so many flowers that it was impossible for Suzy to take them all by herself. Ultimately, she would still have to get in his car and go with him. A little girl who had yet to enter society was always a little reserved and aloof, so he was willing to give her a way out of this.
As long as Suzy entered his car, they could talk about having a meal together. After the meal, it would become a matter of course to go to a hotel.
In psychology, this would be called the stage-to-stage formation.
He had told Sena that this matter would be done in three days. It seemed like he did not need three days at all!
